Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The ADVAN Apex V601 is Yokohama's Max Performance Summer tire for drivers of sports cars, performance sedans, and sporty coupes who want a tire that builds on the lessons learned from five decades of performance innovation. The ADVAN Apex V601 is designed to deliver maximum grip and precision handling in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, it is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

A high-grade, micro silica tread compound is molded into the ADVAN Apex V601's asymmetric pattern. Optimized groove angles are designed to minimize noise for a quieter ride, and the rounded rib profile promotes even contact pressure with the road to reduce uneven tread wear. The wide, outboard rib features very low void for maximum lateral grip, and the solid center rib creates constant contact with the road for high-speed stability and precise handling. The narrow, outer groove helps dissipate the heat generated under aggressive cornering, and the three inside circumferential grooves effectively evacuate water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning.

The single-ply, rayon casing of the ADVAN Apex V601 features a high turn-up, creating a two-ply sidewall for enhanced lateral stability and handling. Two wide, steel belts support the tread and are reinforced with two spirally wound, nylon cap plies.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage. Tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Yokohama ADVAN Apex V601 Reviews

Customers think the Yokohama ADVAN Apex V601 delivers excellent dry traction (9-10 ratings) with precise steering and confident cornering, living up to its Max Performance Summer intent. Wet traction scores (7-10) show strong grip and hydroplaning resistance, though a few note reduced performance in heavy rain. Comfort receives generally positive feedback for a performance tire, though some mention road noise at higher speeds. Treadwear ratings (5-10) highlight durability for a summer tire, but variability suggests driving style or conditions may impact longevity. Overall, it's praised as a capable choice for drivers prioritizing dry and wet handling in summer conditions.

...Wet traction is fantastic and better than expected hydroplaining resistance.

These tires are great for under 500hp. Great cornering, handling and traction. Wet traction is fantastic and better than expected hydroplaining resistance.

...Wet traction and turning grip is good and not a shortcoming, the wide outer tread blocks definitely help in this regard. Traction loss during a turn is easily noticed and corrected, very predictable...

I'll preface this review by saying this is a summer tire focused on the sports car market and you should not expect them to ride the same as a 50 sidewall luxury Continental. But I'm sure you're aware if you're reading reviews for this style tire.

My car is FWD and has about 270whp with an LSD.

These tires are great on a wet highway, they perform as well as you can expect any tire to in the rain that is not a 200tw, will go 80+mph.

At 11k miles and about 1.5 years I am about halfway through the total treadlife of this set, I will probably manage 20k miles. Given my driving style being spirited and taken them to a track event once at MidPond, I am pleasantly surprised by the life of the tread and would buy these again.

Wet traction and turning grip is good and not a shortcoming, the wide outer tread blocks definitely help in this regard. Traction loss during a turn is easily noticed and corrected, very predictable.

In colder climates about 30-40F with no snow or ice (which these are not recommended for) straight line traction is reduced but can still be managed. Corner grip is reduced as well but not as much as straight line grip and can still be fun. But don't even bother trying to put your foot down if it's cold and wet as a warning, because I know a lot of us still run summer tires year round. This is not a shortcoming, as I said these are not recommended for cold climates.

Road noise is a bit on the higher side, but my sidewall is a 35 and I have stiffer suspension so road noise from imperfect asphalt is translated to NVH at a greater volume.
The tires themselves do not generate much road noise when the asphalt is more fresh and smooth so I will not fault the tires.
Though this does not bother me as I have a louder exhaust, as will many of you reading this.

Overall I will say these tires are a fantastic choice if you don't want to spend the $$ for michelins but still want very decent performance for street use and occasional track use. Exactly as designed.

This tire is meant for the Civic Si, fantastic tire. The grip in the wet and dry in Florida is amazing, along with being much more comfortable and quiet that the OEM all-seasons. If you live in an area that has nice weather year-round or can switch to these in the summer, highly recommended and elevates the driving experience. Looking forward to see how these hold up in autocross later this year as well.

...I've had many canyon runs with them and they grip very well...

Excellent tires. I’ve had many canyon runs with them and they grip very well. However if it is raining hard these tires are dangerous. I was driving to work in the early morning and I was sliding off the road with 1-2y old tires. Very scary but every other time I’ve driven it’s been outstanding. Doesn’t rain much where I live.

...Dry performance is excellent and wet weather is as good as it gets in moderately heavy rain fall...

I have this tire on both my RWD and FWD performance cars and I'm equally happy with both. Dry performance is excellent and wet weather is as good as it gets in moderately heavy rain fall. The price is also a factor and this has replaced Kumho Ectas as my go to tire.

First time buying high performance tires and these did not disappoint. Compared to my stock Michelin Primacies these are much more responsive, smoother, and comfortable. The ride quality is actually very nice, road noise and bumps are much less noticeable than before. And if you know how to, it's not too hard to let the tail out with these tires.

No experience yet with wet driving.

I have them on my daily driver, and the v601 is very smooth on the highway as a summer tire. You may expect some road noise for tires in this category, but the v601 is on the quieter side. The wear is good too. I got about 25k miles for my front tires and 17k for my rear(I have always have this wear problem in my stationwagon).
On the other hand, because of the soft sidewall, you lose some steering respond. Wet traction can also be improved. They are slippery in a cold foggy morning on back roads, yet still acceptable on a rainly highway for commute.
Highly recommend for people looking for a daily driver summer tires without sacrifying comfort.

...Also the tread wear has been excellent...

I have a VW Golf R that I can’t help but drive it like I stole it, and I have typically bought Michelin Pilot Sports. I decided to give these Yokohamas a try and I have been very happy with them. I’ve been very impressed by how they handle in the wet since with 4wd I don’t change my driving behavior when it rains. Also the tread wear has been excellent. The one thing I have seen is when I launch the car (I have the DSG) it doesn’t seem to hook up quite like the pilots. But since I don’t launch it very often it’s not a huge factor. Bottom line I’d recommend these tires and I’ll definitely consider them again, especially for the price point.

...These tires last probably twice as long as the OEM tire, and probably twice as long as a 200 treadwear high performance tire. Also for some reason they wear super evenly with minimal tire rotations.

For the performance level of this tire and how will it grips, they wear like iron. Very quiet and smooth for use on an electric car. These tires last probably twice as long as the OEM tire, and probably twice as long as a 200 treadwear high performance tire. They probably have 80 to 85% of the grip of a 200 tread wear high performance tire. Also for some reason they wear super evenly with minimal tire rotations.
