The Geolandar CV G058 is Yokohama's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, small- and medium-sized utility vehicles and minivans looking for reassuring year round traction combined with a comfortable, quiet ride. The Geolandar CV G058 is designed to deliver balanced dry performance with dependable wet and wintertime traction and long treadlife, providing a confident drive, even in light snow.

Yokohama Geolandar CV G058 Callouts

An advanced CV-2 compound featuring Micro Silica is molded into a five-rib, symmetric pattern, utilizing chamfered edges and rounded rib blocks on the shoulders and intermediate ribs. This carefully constructed block profile increases dry traction and spreads out load characteristics, promoting even and longer treadlife. The Geolandar CV G058 is designed with a distinctive, five-pitch variation pattern to help cancel noise that naturally develops as the tread elements roll along the road surface. Hydroplaning resistance is managed by large circumferential and Pass Thru grooves, which are constructed to efficiently evacuate large amounts of water from the tread face. A combination of 2D and 3D sipes work in conjunction with the wet-focused CV-2 compound to boost traction in slippery conditions. The biting edges created by the sipes combine with serrated outer grooves to promote wintertime traction and stability.

Internal construction of the Geolandar CV G058 consists of a two-ply polyester casing providing a robust and responsive package. Twin steel belts are reinforced by a nylon cap ply to further enhance handling and high-speed stability.

These tires are hands down better than the Goodyear Assurance Max Life I had previously. These tires handle the wet roads better than the Goodyears. They don't hydroplane and give me greater confidence on wet roads. We have had some light snow and ice storms since I purchased these tires and my confidence in these tires has been night and day vs the Goodyear tires. These tires perform great on dry roads as well as wet (light snow/ice) in my experience with them. I am recommending them to a relative. I think if you try these tires, you shouldn't be disappointed.

...I also have no problem getting off my mountain when there is moderate snow and ice (driving carefully). Previously even with my descent control, I would slide around, but these tires keep me locked on the road for moderate east coast ice/snow events. We didn't get any snow past 6inches this season so I can't say how they do in deep snow (I would just stay home anyway)...

The oem Falken tires that came on my '19 Forester were absolutely scary to drive on. They would squeal on on/off-ramps like I was speeding while doing a moderate speed. They felt darty on dry roads. They were also scary to drive on in the rain. It rained the day I bought the car and they scared the crap out of me. I have a vintage muscle car on bias-ply tires that handles better than the OEM tires. I was hesitant to change out tires with low miles on them but ultimately decided on these. There weren't many reviews but I've had great experiences with this brand in the past.

I live on a mountain with a mix of gravel road and paved. The paved roads are very windy and often hundreds of feet of elevation change in a short distance. These tires exceeded my expectations. They handle as well on dry roads as they do wet. I also have no problem getting off my mountain when there is moderate snow and ice (driving carefully). Previously even with my descent control, I would slide around, but these tires keep me locked on the road for moderate east coast ice/snow events. We didn't get any snow past 6inches this season so I can't say how they do in deep snow (I would just stay home anyway). I can say for certain that I get up and down the mountain with these better than my neighbors 4x4 with snow/offroad tires.

I feel comfortable saying these feel very much like a summer tire on a small SUV in the warmer months, and in the winter and rain, they have the traction of high-quality 4 season offroad tires for road use. They're also super quiet. I'm not afraid of my "new" car on dry roads anymore. Honestly, this was probably my happiest tire purchase in decades and my 4th or 5th set from Tirerack. Even if I get half the mileage claim that these have I would be happy to buy another set.

YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR CV G058
2005 Honda Element 2WD (one year driving with the tires)
For my street/ highway use application in Southern California, this is a very good tire. My family races cars, not this one however, so we are familiar with tires. This tire provides good road feel feedback, very good wet and dry traction in acceleration, braking, corning, starting on steep hills and is comfortable and quiet. The ride quality is noticeably better than the factory tires and other tires we have used in the past. I have not noticed any fuel mileage differences. The appearance is a nice balance between a street/ SUV tire with just a hint of off road styling. The tread is deep with narrow blocks and can pick up small rocks. Mounting this tire is tricky because the side walls are soft and getting the first air in to seal the bead takes an aggressive blast of air. After they are mounted we have no issues. I am very happy with this tire and will replace them with the same when the time comes. We have had this car for 18 years and driven 260,000 miles and this is the best tire we have had on this car.

...These are first impressions; the first difference was the reduced steering effort. The second thing noticed was the lack of wheelspin, when moving away from a stop on a wet road, there was a slower response to steering inputs but, that can be attributed to the tread depth on the new tires...

For the last 50 years I have purchased tires from all sources; junk yards, chain retailers, small local shops and mail order/on-line purchases. For those of you that have been at it this long, think JC Whitney. This is my second purchase from Tire Rack and I consider both their pre- and post-sale customer service to be exemplary. I found their tire reviews and comparison ratings very helpful in selecting the right tire for my cars.
I live in South Fla where I have no concerns with winter driving conditions. For my type of driving, I look for long thread wear "summer" tires best characterized by "Touring" category. Within this group, and in addition to thread life, my priorities are superior dry and wet driving characteristics and low road noise on the highway. I remember a tire add by Uniroyal describing the then new "Steel Belted Tires". It showed an illustration of a sedan shod with steel tracks, like a bulldozer. The caption went something like this: "Buy the wrong kind of steel-belted tires and you'll be reminded for the next 40000 miles" My current vehicle is a Honda Element, like the minivans that I have own in the past, the large flat floor tends to resonate and amplify road noise. In the case of the Element, the floor is only covered by a rubber mat with no sound insulation between metal floor and the interior of the car. So, low tire road noise is very important to me.
I selected the Yokohama Geolander CV G058 tires. It ticked all the important boxes, and the price was very attractive, especially with the $70 rebate offered.
These are first impressions; the first difference was the reduced steering effort. The second thing noticed was the lack of wheelspin, when moving away from a stop on a wet road, there was a slower response to steering inputs but, that can be attributed to the tread depth on the new tires and lastly, the extreme quietness of these tires on the highway. I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend these tires.

I bought based on comfort and quietness ratings but still good snow traction.......put them on and next day took on a trip to the Black Hills. Much, much quieter than the BF Goodrich tires it replaced. The wife even noticed how much quieter they were. Smooth but controlled and tracked true. So far driven only on highway surfaces, wet and dry. This is the 3rd set of tires I have bought from Tire Rack. I like to be able to tune the vehicle/driver needs to the tire strengths. Use these ratings to get what you are after in the tire characteristics that matter to you. Prices are fair too, especially when you consider that the tire hazard is included with the price. Saved $240 after installation from best price I could find on same tire in my city.

I purchased this tire because my wife has them on her 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe and the tires were so quiet and the ride was so nice. I put them on my 2016 Honda CRV EX-L and the ride is so nice. They are a very nice tire. I had them filled with Nitrogen and all tires were balanced and the car had a 4 wheel alignment. I am very Happy with my purchase. Tire Rack has been great and I picked up the tires from the Delaware Tire Rack place. I got fast service and I saved some money doing this.

I put these on after the Pirelli Scorpians we’re ready to be replaced at 55,000 miles. Two major differences with the Yokohama Geo is
1. Way more comfortable, better ride. The Pirelli were low profile and looked good and cornered excellent , but the comfort level is way better on the Yokohama tires.
2. Also better in snow. Getting close to having to replace. I have 56,000 on them and are starting to shop again. I missed one rotation and it shows on two of them. I do check psi to reduce premature wear.

...I've managed several times to get 50-60k miles on cheap tires too. My experience here tells me they can last upwards of 80k miles before being done-done...

I purchased Yokohama Geolandars for my 2007 Toyota RAV4 and my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. Of all the tires I've ever purchased for my cars, I have to say Geolandars are well worth the money.

I've gone the cheap route before and paid the price for failing lesser quality tires in the past, but I have yet to have a single Geolandar of the 6 I currently have fail on me. (3 more on the way to complete the switch over at the time of writing this)... I've managed several times to get 50-60k miles on cheap tires too. My experience here tells me they can last upwards of 80k miles before being done-done

My driving takes me into many large apartments where road cleanup is not great as well as salvage yard frequently. Not to mention in town and highway driving. These tires are no joke good.

My only "Complaint" with them is they're not stellar with snow or icy conditions but keep in mind my truck is rear wheel only... My car is front wheel only. So I have experienced some icy conditions with both types of drives. This "May" just be as simple as my cars not having 4WD or AWD.

Also one last thing to mention. I'm a very apprehensive person who reads reviews with a grain of salt and I'm skeptical about a lot of things... When I'm enthusiastic about a product it's because it's a VERY good product. I can tell you that I will be back when the time comes and I will be sticking with the Geolandar series. Buy into the Geolandar series and you very likely won't have to worry about them failing prematurely.

Thanks for reading and I sincerely hope everyone who buys these for their SUVs or Trucks have the same great experience with these tires.
