Yokohama Geolandar G91F Reviews

Customers think the Yokohama Geolandar G91F delivers confident dry traction (scores 7-10) and a smooth, quiet ride, with many praising its comfort. Treadwear receives positive feedback for longevity, though some report variability. Wet performance is generally reliable, though a few note hydroplaning concerns in heavy rain. Winter traction is a notable weakness, with low scores (0-5) in snow and ice conditions, making it less ideal for severe winter use. As a highway all-season tire, it excels in dry and wet conditions but falls short for drivers needing consistent winter capability.

I don't understand all the negative reviews on this tire. I have not driven it in snow or ice but on dry asphalt and wet it does a great job. Down here in Florida we get daily rainstorms, not just a drizzle but torrential downpours. I have no problem with hydroplaning whatsoever. The Crosstrek feels stable and planted at all times and it has always been a comfortable ride. I've also taken it on some trails and obviously would not rate it a 10 on gravel, sand, or rocky surfaces but how much can you expect from an all season highway tire? Comfortable ride, little road noise, not bad for oem tire.

Yes, I agree that snow traction not the best. But for the dry or wet road they are awesome. And I have raced competitively -I drive the snot out of this car around every corner. Someone has seriously criticized the longevity?

I did not purchase these tires from Tire rack. They came on my newly purchased 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. I actually was surprised at how well the tires preformed on dry roads. They hold the car steady in tight, fast cornering and accelerate and break very well. I was VERY surprised and SHOCKED how well they handled in rain whether it was light, medium, or a down-pour. I was coming off an off ramp...maybe to fast since my confidence driving in heavy rain went way up. I thought to myself "oh man, this is not gonna be good!". My tires didn't slide out one bit. Currently, we have had 15 inches of snow over the past few days in the Seattle/Lake Stevens area, so you may want to know, can they handle snow, or are they crap? I am VERY surprised and shocked of what I got out of them so far. I can roll through 3-6 inches of snow with no problem, and plowed through 15 inches of snow with ease. I'm trying to figure out if it's the tires, or the Subaru. I can drive up a hill in the snow...shallow or deep, as well as go down a hill with ease. I feel comfortable enough to park and stop in 15 inches of snow, and drive out of it later with ease. Slush was no problem either or hard packed ice. Now to clarify, slush and ice was driven on with care and patience but it still did well. And breaking on the snow was good, but not perfect and the slush and icebreaking were worse so with these tires, if like on any tires, give yourself distance to the situation you are in. And no, they do NOT perform like a now tire, but if you drive with common sense, these tires will take care of you in dry, rainy, snowy and slush roads if you're a good driver. I felt I needed to write a review on these tires since I've seen some bad reviews on them on some sites. Like I said, we have 15 inches on snow on the ground now. It is also currently snowing now, and we'll be getting 3-8 inches more tonight and have 5 more snow days to come in 8 days. They are serving me & my car well.

...Gripped the road like a sport-car, rain or shine, and quiet...

OEM tires on our 2020 Crosstrek. These tires were wonderful in the spring/ summer/ and fall. Gripped the road like a sport-car, rain or shine, and quiet. Look very good as well.

Then our New Hampshire winter comes around and when it snows you feel like you are on ice-skates. And that is the positive. On ice there is virtually no traction. Very experienced winter driver, not a single accident in my 60 years of life, yet I can recount spinning and sliding more than I ever want to remember on these tires. Thank I never hit anything on these travels!

One last thing, down to 4/32nd @ 38,500 miles. Was hoping for more life.

...Very comfortable ride and great handling. Mostly highway use in my case...

These tires came on my 2015 Forester and I have 84,000+ miles on them. My dealer says I have nearly 40% tread life left -- amazing!! Very comfortable ride and great handling. Mostly highway use in my case. Would definitely buy again. I am in the process of changing the wheels and putting these tires on my wife's 2017 Forester Touring model to improve the ride comfort. The Touring model has 18" rims and 55 profile series tires which contribute to a much harder ride.

This you're was on the car when I purchased it brand new from the dealership. I replaced them at 74,000+ miles! I was amazed at how long they lasted. I'm not easy on my vehicles. I live on a dirt road and do a good combination of country roads, city and highway driving. I'll purchase again!

These tires came on our car and still have a lot of tread on them at the 50K mark. The typical experience is that original equipment tires do not last long, yet these hold the road well, have just begun to get a bit noisy, but are still very good in wet conditions. We have followed a strict rotation and air pressure regime. When I took the car to a tire dealer to have the tires evaluated he couldn't believe the car had 50,000 miles and recommended I get another set of Yokohamas. We certainly will.

Winter traction shows concerning scores, with many ratings between 0-6 citing slippery snow performance and lack of ice grip. While some report 7-10s, frequent low marks highlight unstable handling and traction loss in winter conditions, making it unreliable for all-season expectations.

...Winter: The scary part was the random total lack of braking on what I call X. ... For X conditions, suddenly there was ZERO traction for stopping, none, pure frictionless. ... Going slow I slid 200 feet at one point and I was not moving fast, slowing down for a left turn lane with the light against me so I knew I had to stop...

OEM on the 25 Forester. No issues with them for summer and no noted hydroplane in summer wet. Frankly if this was dry seldom snow country, they would be acceptable. I would still move to get a better tire that does the edge seasons even if all you had was edge seasons.

Winter: The scary part was the random total lack of braking on what I call X. It was ok on ice normally. Ok in snow pretty much all conditions. For X conditions, suddenly there was ZERO traction for stopping, none, pure frictionless. Going slow I slid 200 feet at one point and I was not moving fast, slowing down for a left turn lane with the light against me so I knew I had to stop. That is just nuts. I have had some like tires on ice, not great but not that bad. I would rate them ZERO for that reason, for no fault of yours using all normal winter precautions you could hit someone or something when you were giving more than due dligence.

X Condition baffled me. It was not ice, it was not new snow on ice. It was a bit older snow on some older ice. Not what I ever experienced with the worst tire ever before. I had the one 200 ft slide (looking to stuff into a berm) and one shorter, same thing but less slide but zero stop for too long. I was able to catch thick snow at the edge of the lane and could then slow down. When I got home, I checked the street, I saw nothing for a cause. MO was to do test braking at all times any trip.

Its other Zero would be the sudden break out in a turn on ice (known ice, pushing it a bit but not hard). Phew. No warning, only avoidance was to stay well off any speed on a 90 deg turn (or 45).

First winter ok, this winter when it manifested, I discussed with my wife and got Blizzaks at about $2000, it had to stop (in all senses of the meaning). Zero because I could not determine from conditions when it was going to go from so so to nothing. A pox on these tires. Subaru AWD buy should be ashamed.

...Then winter hits and you're on ice skates... Completely useless in snow...

These tires feel like you're driving a sports car in Spring and Summer. Corners incredibly well, responds well, and feel awesome. Then winter hits and you're on ice skates. I understand these are "Highway All-Seasons", but what's the point in putting highway tires on a Crosstrek? Completely useless in anything other than asphalt. When push comes to shove, these are great tires for one season. There are a lot better tires out there for what this car can handle, these just aren't it.
