    Do not remove the centering plastic ring..that is necessary to make the wheel hub centric. You can have vibrations and possibly ruin your wheels, hub, bearings etc. The ring will not melt. It is made of the same plastic under your hood, it can withstand the hear from track days. If you are worried about it, you can buy aftermarket hub rings in aluminum but that may void your BBS warranty.
