Disc brake pads and rotors are wear items and as such, should be inspected regularly and replaced as necessary. Read More.

Hawk Performance HPS-High Performance Street disc brake pads are designed for sports car, coupe, sedan, pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers looking to improve brake performance and stopping power. Hawk Performance HPS Ferro-Carbon compound brake pads provide advanced braking characteristics to enhance the driving experience. This unique compound combines the safety and quality of aerospace design partnered with the braking technology of motorsports.

Hawk Performance HPS pads offer 20-40% more stopping power and higher resistance to brake fade than most Original Equipment or standard replacement pads. This makes them more responsive and durable than most standard original brakes and makes Hawk Performance HPS pads the first...and least expensive...way to increase the stopping power of cars and light trucks.

As standard brake pads wear, brake dust is released as the friction material wears in everyday braking. Hawk Performance HPS brake pads are formulated to run cleaner and release extremely low levels of dust in normal street driving.

Features and Benefits

  • High friction/torque hot or cold
  • Gentle on rotors
  • Very quiet, low noise
  • Improved braking over OE pads
  • Extended pad life

Brake pads are wear items and as such, should be inspected regularly and replaced as necessary. Pads should be replaced when approximately 1/8th inch of friction material remains on the steel backing plate.

Note: Even though Hawk Performance burnishes its brake pads as a final step in the factory, all brake pads have to be bedded-in with the rotors (new or used) that they will be used against. Properly bedding-in new brake pads results in a transfer film being generated at the pad and rotor interface to maximize brake performance.

I have been using Hawk HP+ brake pads quite successfully for autocross for the past 20 years. Unfortunately, Hawk has discontinued that compound, so I decided to try a set of HPS pads. On the positive side, they are quiet, generate little dust, easy to modulate and are not prone to lockup under hard braking. On the negative side, they just don’t stop very well compared to the HP+ pads. I overshot several elements on my first few runs and had to back up my braking points quite a bit. These are probably better suited to street use, although thinking of wearing these during a panic stop makes me nervous. These are coming off and going in the trash.

Worked very well overall. Stopped pretty quick on stock rotors (323ci). Purchased for my rears for my E46, well spirited driving/ casual cruise and commutes. Makes little no noise and dust is pretty mild. Considering I have silver wheels (Style 71s) and a white car. When I upgrade to 330ci rotors which are bigger, I will consider getting them for my rears when I upgrade, as well as the fronts if they re available. Installed them on September 4, 2025, and the time of this review is March 24, 2026. They still have a lot of life left. Honestly good brake pads. Recently took my car to the canyons 3/21/26 for the first time and they held up super well and felt the same through all the hard driving. HAWK, I think should be considered for your whip; make sure you look into any type of brake pads before you purchase. Car isn t that fast so brake pad wear will be less, also keep in mind my style of daily driving. I m young, sick car, decent mods, not fbo, that all adds up to what type of driver I am. I am very considerate and mindful of other drivers. I am not a goofball on the road, when I drive, I DRIVE.
