The Blizzak WS90 is Bridgestone's Studless Ice & Snow winter tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, minivans and crossovers looking for confident control in a variety of difficult winter weather. When winter driving conditions are at their worst, Bridgestone's Blizzak WS90 winter tires are designed to be at their best.
The directional pattern of the Blizzak WS90 features increased block stiffness to deliver more responsive steering in addition to improved wear life, and Bridgestone's EdgePerformance Technology Package includes full-depth features and interlocking sipes to provide impressive performance longer through the tire's life. The tread pattern features greater contact area and 15% more block edges than the Blizzak WS90's predecessor, increasing ice traction and reducing braking distances in slippery conditions. It is molded from Bridgestone's next generation Multi-Cell compound with bite particles, which allows the tire to remove the thin layer of water that develops between the tread rubber and icy surfaces, enabling the tire to better grip the ice. Silica enhancements in the compound further improve grip in snow and on ice.
Blizzak WS90 Studless Ice & Snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Blizzak WS90 tires feature snow platforms that act as winter wear bars and notify drivers when they are near the end of the Multi-Cell compound (actual depth of Multi-Cell compound varies slightly by tire size). Beneath the Multi-Cell compound is Bridgestone's best winter compound, but without the Multi-Cell feature.
Install Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 tires in sets of four only.
Due to the traction capabilities of Blizzak WS90 tires, Bridgestone recommends using them only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

...Driving on dry pavement, or during a rain storm, is especially impressive, as the tires are not noisy and traction is excellent.
We live in the mountains of Wyoming, and snow tires, here, are mounted for 5 months of the year. This car is used for driving around town, which means some driving at highway speeds, a lot of driving at city speeds, some driving on gravel or dirt roads. It isn’t used for driving more than 15 miles from our home. The performance of the tires is excellent, whether in the transition months, when the roads are not always snow covered, or during the peak months when we get snow almost every day. Driving on dry pavement, or during a rain storm, is especially impressive, as the tires are not noisy and traction is excellent.

These tires are nearly unstoppable in the snow. I previously had the Blizzak WS80's for about 4 years and loved those, so I bought these as a replacement in late 2023. After 2 winters in New England, I have yet to actually get stuck. I don't even need to shovel out my car because it can drive out of snow banks taller than its ground clearance. The only times I've felt uncertain of my traction were during a couple rain-snow-mix storms where the roads were ultra-slick. During dry conditions, they feel like normal tires, although some road noise is noticeable. It's more than worth it though for feeling safe driving through nor'easters.

...These tires plow through the snow... In my opinion these are the best snow tires on the market.
Excellent for rain and snow. These tires plow through the snow. They are a little noisy in dry weather, which is to be expected due to the aggressive tread pattern. In my opinion these are the best snow tires on the market.

...The WS-90's are far superior to their Blizzak predecessors, especially when driving at higher traffic speeds on interstates. Blizzaks have been on all my cars for decades. All sets of tires have been mounted on their own extra rims. The WS-90's are far superior to their Blizzak predecessors, especially when driving at higher traffic speeds on interstates. The much stiffer shoulders on the tires have really helped me trust that they will not exhibit any squirming during obstacle avoidance or lane changes, especially on dry pavement, which was an issue for me with previous iterations of Any winter tires.
As for ice; nothing helps - just hope to find some nice crunchy snow, at least! In my region, studded tires are illegal.

...They make a distinctive high-pitched whirring noise on dry roads but that is normal with winter tires...
Purchased these tires in December 2022 for my winter beater Crown Victoria. They are the best snow tires I have ever experienced. The braking traction on snow is incredible. They make a distinctive high-pitched whirring noise on dry roads but that is normal with winter tires. Highly recommended!

...Even the treadwear is excellent for a winter tire...
These tires are outstanding. About as close as you can get to driving on dry pavement. I have them on my Infiniti G37xs, and they work great. Even the treadwear is excellent for a winter tire. My work van has studded tires and even these work better than those tires do.

...I drive very spiritedly, and even with routinely strong acceleration/braking/cornering, the tread has held up well and shows hardly any wear after a winter season...
Phenomenal snow tire with good manners and good wear resistance outside of winter conditions. This tire pulls through snow better than any other tire I’ve ever driven. The tread is also truly exceptional at evacuating slush and deep water, tracking straight in slushy conditions and is very hydroplane resistant in heavy rain. Ice traction is solid and confidence inspiring, but I would say the Michelin X-ice III narrowly edges it out in ice and smooth pack snow conditions. It grips adequately in the dry, but is not a sport tire. What makes it a great snow tire results in a fairly delayed response to steering input, but if you steer anticipating that, it will carve through the back roads just fine at reasonable pace. I drive very spiritedly, and even with routinely strong acceleration/braking/cornering, the tread has held up well and shows hardly any wear after a winter season. I occasionally run up and down off road logging trails and they are excellent for light off roading as well. Combined with the AWD of my CRV, it feels like it can go anywhere, rain, snow, dirt, mud, up or down fairly steep mountain roads on these tires. This tire is also a favorite in SCCA rallycross racing classes requiring a DOT tire. This was actually my initial experience with the tire on a FWD Hyundai and it is excellent at that job as well…held up really well for what is essentially off road autocross racing. This is the definitive winter tire in my opinion. Just but it. You won’t be disappointed.

...Have almost 4k miles on them now, so I can't say much as far as tread wear.. (They don't have noticeable wear at this point)...
Saw a lot of great things about the blizzaks, so I got a set late fall. Have almost 4k miles on them now, so I can't say much as far as tread wear.. (They don't have noticeable wear at this point) But I have driven thru the majority of a harsher NW Montana winter, and I have to say I'm seriously impressed! They're fantastic in powder, ran in about 5-6" (on the road) at one point, and they practically didn't bat an eye. Was able to maintain my normal "5 over," (barely dropping down thru decent turns) Only time they start to struggle was when the car starts to push snow, as in 6-8" up a steep windy drive. Even on a sheet of glazed ice, up said driveway, they still have a fair bit of traction. They'll spin and complain, and carry on, but there hasn't been a time so far, that I haven't made it up. Slightly louder than regular tires on a dry road, but a good ways from obnoxious. (studs are significantly louder) I've contemplated trying studded tires, with the amount of ice I run in, but we'll see. I still have another season or so to decide. Highly recommend!
