Highway All-Season run-flat tires provide temporary self-supporting run-flat mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph, even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. They are designed for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.

O.E. Highway All-Season run-flat tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. run-flat tires' performance category and specifications.

NOTE: Run-flat tires are only recommended for vehicles that are originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. the first 20,000 miles are very good. dry and wet grip were strong on turns. I had confidence taking sweeping turns 15mph above posted speed during steady rain conditions and 25mph above in dry conditions. rotated every 10k miles with no uneven wear.
at 25K mi., I approximate less than 25% tread remaining and wet grip decreased noticeably.
I do not recommend these tires due to price point and will consider other brands such as Michelin CrossClimate2 in 235/55/17.
I will not use these tires to completion and am ready to dump them post haste

...good grip wet or dry...

Not sure why this tire gets generally low ratings...I have about 8k on this new set of RFT's and they seem to be a pretty good 3 season tire: good grip wet or dry, quiet, a bit firm on cleveland pothole strewn streets, but that could be the BMW X50's firm suspension more so than the hardness of the tire. Not too many miles so far, but reasonalby impressed with this RFT (which I generally loath). True convession - I did buy a seperate set of snow tires to get throught the Cleveland winters - these tires are weak in the snow/ice. It would be totally embrrasing to end up in a snow bank with an X5...and I don't like to slow down just for a little snow.

...Good tires, looking for SECOUND set...

This is the first time I have gotten more than 40,000 miles on a set of tires. I'm not sure if it's the tires or the car, the BMW X 3 almost wants to be driven hard . The faster you go the smoother the ride .I live in St. Louis , Mo. We get all kinds of whether ,110 and dry last summer, 05 and 6 to 7 inches last winter, not one problem even on unplowed city streets. Good tires, looking for SECOUND set. 04/12. Al. N.

255/50R19 that came with MY13 BMW X5 35d.
Overall positive experience, with one exception - this tire has absolutely no grip on icy surface. None whatsoever.

Tires were rotated every 10,000 miles.
Great dry traction, good cornering stability.
I replaced them at 67,000K miles with 4/32" remaining thread.
Never had air leaks, even thread wear, no noise.
They would of lasted another 20,000K on dry roads, but I needed something different for snow days.

Summary
If you looking for everyday highway tire - this is good choice. Ice and snow - these tires are not an option.

This tire is not all season, but reacts more like an UHP Summer Tire. Simply put, this tire is treacherous in ANY winter driving conditions, no matter how little snow or precipitation. The back end will slip and slide with even minimal snow or precipitation...

This tire came with the purchase of my 2013 X5. The first year I had the car I did not drive it winter conditions. This year I drove it on and off over the winter. The results are terrible. This tire is not all season, but reacts more like an UHP Summer Tire. Simply put, this tire is treacherous in ANY winter driving conditions, no matter how little snow or precipitation. The back end will slip and slide with even minimal snow or precipitation. Steering input is also compromised in winter conditions making tracking very difficult. Thank --- I've graduated from the Bridgestone Winter Driving School or the X5 would be totaled by now. I am also thankful that the tires wear very poorly so I won't fell badly about replacing them after 22k miles.
Horrible Tire for anyone driving in other than dry conditions.

My biggest problem with these tires is that over bumpy terrain they are really really bad. When I say bumpy terrain I don't mean rocks and boulders I mean ordinary roads that are not very smooth. On certain highways the car really shudders over the older sections...

On certain highways the car really shudders over the older sections. I think most of the issue is caused by the technology used to make these tires run when flat. The sidewalls are so stiff that every road imperfection is transferred to the cabin and between bumps the tire does not have a chance to settle down so a series of bumps leads to chaos from the tires. On long drives I find the tires to be ... tiresome. The near constant feedback into the cabin from every minor road imperfection adds up on long drives. These are the only run-flat tires I have ever driven so maybe they are all this bad or these are worse than others. This problem is even worse when off road. The tires don't really yield to the contours of rocks and you cant deflate them slightly for use on sand. They are useless in those places. When the road is smooth then they are good tires. Better grip than expected on dry roads, and thanks to the stiff sidewalls they offer excellent cornering stability. They provide sufficient confidence on wet roads. I have not driven them in snow.

These tires, OE on my RAV4 Sport, are incredibly noisy, literally forcing you to raise your voice to converse at highway speeds. They have an annoying, jarring ride (in combination with the sport-tuned suspension on the RAV4 Sport) on all but the smoothest pavement...

These tires, OE on my RAV4 Sport, are incredibly noisy, literally forcing you to raise your voice to converse at highway speeds. They have an annoying, jarring ride (in combination with the "sport-tuned" suspension on the RAV4 Sport) on all but the smoothest pavement. They also have mediocre tread life: mine need replacement at 55K, not impressive for an H-rated tire. My main objection is the cost and inconvenience of owning these tires. The Bridgestone owners' manual states that their RFT tires are "not repairable" if the tire was "operated" with less than 15 lbs psi. What good is having run-flats if they must be scrapped if driven after they go flat? Isn't the capability to drive after a flat occurs the chief reason you have such tires on your car? And how can you avoid it in most events, since you have no spare and no jack?? Even worse, these tires are very hard to find, not even kept in stock at the Toyota dealerships! At 20,000 miles, 2 different tires went flat within a few weeks. No shop would repair either flat, which I understand to be a common problem: repair shops are afraid that you exceeded the speed/distance limits while driving after the tire went flat. The first time, no one in the (downstate Illinois) area had them in stock. I had to buy a similar conventional tire to finish a road trip home to Chicago on time, where of course it had to be replaced by an OE tire. Since the second flat was also "not repairable", the 2 flats cost about $700 to fix, the price of three new tires, mounting charges, etc. I believe that the supposed advantages of run-flats are far out-weighed, at least in the case of Bridgestone products, by the harsh ride characteristics, excessive noise, and much higher costs involved. I agree with the advice of other reviewers of Bridgestone run-flats on this site: replace them with conventional tires, carry a can of Fix-A-Flat, and get an AAA membership.

My Sienna has 36,000 mile on it and I just had to replace the tires for the second time.The first set of Bridgestone Dueler 400RFTs lasted 23,000 miles and wore out, $1,156 dollars to replace. The second set had a front tire wear through the second set of the cords on the inside of the front tire, while traveling on vacation. I discovered this after driving 5 hours an was unpacking the van. The local Toyota dealer replaced the 2 front tires and performed a 4 wheel alignment, no defects in the alignment were found, $619.05. I consider that to be a real bad tire. The dealer put on Bridgestone Dueler 400RFTs. unfortunately the following week I found that I had picked up a nail in a rear tire and had them replaced, $609.34. This independant tire shop put on 2 Bridgestone Turanza EL 400-02R tires. I truly love my Sienna, but when these tires go they will not be replaced with anything made by Bridgestone or any other run flat tire. I will be looking at the best that Michelin has to offer and get a set of tire that will last 45-60,000 and handle better, quieter and give a smother ride.
