The Potenza RE980AS+ is Bridgestone's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans looking for high-speed capability and predictable handling in dry and wet conditions combined with confident year-round performance, even in light snow.
Compared to the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS it replaces, the new Potenza RE980AS+ shares the same performance-tuned tread design, featuring a new, updated compound developed to increase light-snow traction.
The Potenza RE980AS+ molds the updated all-season compound into an asymmetric, noise-optimized tread pattern to balance dry and wet performance with quiet comfort. The tire's lateral slots feature chamfered edges to improve rubber-to-road contact and aid in dry braking, while the 3D full-depth sipes interlock for tread stability. High sipe density creates the biting edges for traction in slippery conditions, and their full depth helps maintain performance over time. The Potenza RE980AS+'s tread pattern slots and grooves are interconnected to facilitate water evacuation from the contact patch, and open shoulder slots combine with high levels of see-through void to further reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
The internal construction of the Potenza RE980AS+ consists of three polyester sidewall plies and two polyester plies in the tread area to balance handling response and ride comfort. The high-stiffness sidewall filler resists distortion for responsive handling, and the twin steel belts are reinforced by a spirally wound, nylon wrap for high-speed capability.

I've experienced these tires in all types of weather and they are great. Being Bridgestone RE series tires, it's a given the dry handling would be superb, but they are also very good in the wet. Today I got to experience them in the snow and they are surprisingly good in snow covered and icy road conditions. They're not Blizzaks, but they're quite good. I would definitely recommend these, and in fact, I already have.
BTW... Not sure why it's not listed, but my car is a New Beetle Sport. It's FWD, turbocharged/inter-cooled 150 hp, with traction control and anti-lock brakes. It's the direct predecessor to the Turbo model.

I bought these tires about two weeks before my trip to Georgia and I live in Arizona. I had General G-Max AS 05's on the car prior to the Bridgestones which were very good for my style of driving. As with all NEW tires these were very smooth and quite right off the bat. The more I drove on them I began to realize these were a GREAT tire. We took off on our trip and it was a joy to drive on them. The more I drove the more the tires shinned. I usually drive around 80 MPH, on the interstates, plus or minus,to keep ahead of the trucks. Just outside Fort Worth we ran into a helluva rain storm which lasted until we were on the east side of Dallas. I was running around 75 to 80 to keep up with crazy Texas traffic. The rain was heavy and there was a lot of mist being generated by the traffic ahead of us. The tires were great and I mean it. These are beautiful handling tires and they are also quiet and very comfortable. The tires never broke traction or hydroplaned and I felt very confident while in those bad conditions. As usual, I broke them in gently as I always do and it seems to get me some good mileage out of all the tires I buy. I am 77 yrs. old if you were undering. I do recommend these tires and I will purchase them the next time.

These brand new tires are absolutely amazing! This new plus (+) model offers enhanced ride comfort, improved snow performance and better treadwear than the Potenza RE980AS I previously had. They have significantly improved in the snow handling and traction department as well. Also, they are more comfortble and have better treadwear when compared to the original model.
Amazingly, even though my vehicle is a Cadillac XTS these tires do the job quite well, even minimizing the noise impact on the road. Surprise, surprise. 😉 My previous set of tires were the original Potenza which were alright, and even before that the Goodyear Eagle Touring is what I used and they were absolutely atrocious in all areas!
So overall this tire is a great new edition and I'm hoping more people get to try and actually review them once they get a chance to try them out. I don't think many people will be disappointed with this new fantastic upgrade. 👍

This is a phenomenal tire. My previous BMW had Yokohama UHP tires which were quite stiff but potent but these are stiff in the corners yet provide amazing smoothness and comfort at high speeds while inspiring great confidence.
I do not use dedicated snow tires and have never needed them since the Bridgestone tires are so capable in heavy snow and cold temperatures. Very minimal slippage, understeer in deep and heavy snow and rarely does the car break loose. Thanks to xDrive and these tires, I can navigate the harsh Canadian winter with full confidence.
No reporting on treadwear.
Astounding tire so far.

...Dry traction is very good; comparable to the michelins i had before...
These tires are pretty good. Steering and on center feel are kind of vague though. They are very stable mid corner once the suspension is set. Very quiet at 70+ on the highway and delivered good fuel economy (28 -30mpg) at 65-75. Dry traction is very good; comparable to the michelins i had before.
Full disclosure, I didnt choose these tires. I got a flat on a business trip and this is the only option the nearest tire store had. But they have worked out well so far.

Overall, I like them better than the Michelins for road noise and dry traction, which is 80%+ of my driving.
Overall I like these tires very much. They are replacing a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons. My only disappointment was the wear. They lasted 35,000 miles, the previous Michelins lasted 50,000. They ride quieter than the Michelins, but don't instill the confidence of the Michelins in the wet. Overall, I like them better than the Michelins for road noise and dry traction, which is 80%+ of my driving.

These tires are exceptional in all conditions....They have not been evaluated in winter conditions. Road noise is limited; handling and performance has thus far been exceptional. ...So far 18.5k miles were driven on these tires and at the time of writing this review the tread life is 6-7/32" all around. This tire has a TW rating of 500 and it shows...
I purchased my Civic Type R with the stock 20' wheels wrapped by some cheap tires from the dealer. They ran for about 13k miles before one of the tires failed. I quickly found myself with an opportunity to downsize.
Purchased Enkei TR6 18x9.5 + 45 as well as these tires with the intent to do some road trips in the next 2 years. I wanted something comfortable as I daily drive my car as well as something with long-lasting tread life. This tire has a TW rating of 500 and it shows.
For context: I drive normally, I've done a 4,500 road trip on these tires through wet and cold weather (no snow/ice). So far 18.5k miles were driven on these tires and at the time of writing this review the tread life is 6-7/32" all around. Once a month I take it up the mountain roads for some spirited driving and these perform relatively well.
I am not considering another A/S tire after the tread goes down. I am looking at either the Michelin PS4 or the Yokohama Advan Apex V601 summer tires for a balance of performance, grip, and tread longevity.
