The Turanza EL400-02 RFT is Bridgestone's Standard Touring All-Season self-supporting run-flat tire developed as Original Equipment (O.E.) for Lexus IS250C and IS350C models, as well as all-wheel drive Toyota Sienna* minivans as of the 2011 model year. The Turanza EL400-02 RFT is designed to combine temporary extended mobility (for a distance of at least 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss) with dry, wet and wintertime traction, even in light snow.

Turanza EL400-02 RFT tires feature an all-season rubber compound molded into a symmetric tread design with straight circumferential grooves to balance dry and wet road traction with noise comfort and hydroplaning resistance. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality. The structure of the Turanza EL400-02 RFT features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology-reinforced sidewalls specifically tuned to support the vehicle in the case a puncture causes complete loss of air pressure.

*The P235/55RF18 99T-sized Turanza EL400-02 RFT developed for Toyota all-wheel drive Sienna minivans beginning with the 2011 model year is Bridgestone's first run-flat tire to arrive in the U.S. that features their 3rd generation run-flat tire (3G RFT) technology. The 3G RFT tires are designed to offer almost the same riding comfort as conventional tires while continuing to provide temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete air loss. While Bridgestone's "3G" identification isn't molded on the tire's sidewall or printed on its label, it is confirmed by the cooling fin technology molded into the sidewalls as shown in the accompanying photos.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Customers Say

Ratings show mixed results. Treadwear is a major concern, with many scores below 3, indicating premature wear. Comfort receives inconsistent feedback, with some noting harshness and road noise. Winter traction struggles, particularly on ice (scores 0-3) and in deep snow. Wet traction shows split opinions, with hydroplaning resistance ranging 5-8 but occasional low scores in heavy rain. Dry traction stands out as a strength, with most ratings 7-9 for confident handling and stability. While suitable for dry conditions, its all-season performance falls short in winter scenarios, and durability issues may limit long-term value for standard touring use.

Once I experienced a flat tire during a snow storm and was able to drive on the snowy road of about 3 inches high of fresh snow to get to a hotel about 40 miles away. It was late in the evening and the snow was icing up. Of course the van had my wife and daughter as passengers and all our luggage/ski boots..etc loaded in the back. First time I was grateful that I had these run-flats , I didn't have to get out to change the tire during the snow storm. Overall I have been satisfied with the tires and would get them again. One disadvantage, which I hear is true of all run-flat tires, is that they do wear out faster than regular non-flat tires. These run-flat tires seem to last about 40,000 to 50,000 miles before they need to be replaced.

...I have never hydroplaned so much as I did in these tires... I felt so unsafe driving my kids around with these on the car (I dreaded driving in rain)...

These tires were the OEM on my Toyota Sienna XLE AWD. They were the worst tires I've ever drive on. The only redeeming quality is that they are run flats. We had to replace them after only 18k miles despite a 25k mile warranty. I have never hydroplaned so much as I did in these tires. Dry traction was OK but not great. Don't even consider using these in any winter weather. They are also loud and uncomfortable, something I expect from a winter tire but not an all season. I felt so unsafe driving my kids around with these on the car (I dreaded driving in rain) that we switched pretty quickly to Blizzaks (it was winter when we switched) and because of the terrible selection of RFT for the Sienna we now just keep the Blizzak LM-60 RFT on the van all the time. I replace them often but at least they are safe in winter and wet weather. I am disgusted that Toyota chose these as their OEM considering that minivans are marketed to families and they are so unsafe. Horrible, terrible, no good, very bad tire!

Tires offer poor response, are loud, poor on wet roads and tread wear is also poor. Not sure why toyota would pick them as OEM tire - only reason is RFT? ... any way never again. I estimate we will get less than 30,000 miles out of tire.

235/55R18 RunFlat (RFT) came with my new 2019 Toyota Sienna XLE.
Worst tire I've ever owned. Even brand new, traction on wet roads or even a hint of snow was horrible. We even had an expensive accident from the terrible traction after a light dusting of snow on the ground, going very slowly, it slid into a curb and cost me plenty of money replacing an A-arm.
Even after 15k miles, these didn't feel very good. I should have replaced them sooner, but I ran them until one blew out at 32k miles.

I wish I had replaced these the moment I took possession of my new vehicle, I will never buy another set of Bridgestone if I can help it, ever, ever again.
Replacing with a high-end continental - not run-flats, and I hope to enjoy my vehicle much more once these terrible tires are out of my life.

...Also, the traction in the winter is terrible. Need to also invest in some winter RF tires to keep the family save.

We just passed 20,000 miles and get to replace the full set on our 2011 Sienna. No warranty and all the dealer can say is sorry...hearing lots of complaints on these run flat tires. Also, no options other than the Bridgestone Dueler, so will give that one a try. Completely unhappy with the tire and can't believe Toyota continues to use it. Also, the traction in the winter is terrible. Need to also invest in some winter RF tires to keep the family save.

worn out at 34k, unable to go up a hill with over 4 inches of snow. Any ice, rain or snow on highway causes hydroplaning have to drive much slower than everyone else. Toyota sent out a warning not to tow or load to weight capacity with these original tires. Bridgestone makes unsafe terrible run flat tires. Beware of Toyota for using them.

...The ride quality is horrible and you can feel every single bump in the road. Very stiff ride and noisy to boot. Compared to the Michelin Energy Tires we replaced them with they ride like Rocks...

We got these on our new 2011 Sienna AWD. We had to replace ALL FOUR of these tires today. They lasted 12,000 Miles. We have also had two flats in the last two months with these tires and the second one could not be patched. The ride quality is horrible and you can feel every single bump in the road. Very stiff ride and noisy to boot. Compared to the Michelin "Energy" Tires we replaced them with they ride like Rocks.

All in all, I'd say these new "run flats" will probably not be around in a few years. Both the Tire Shop (who couldn't find one anywhere) and the Dealer all say they are notorious for getting poor mileage and for getting ruined if you actually DO drive on them when they are flat. They are also very hard to find. Even good old Tire Rack didn't have them in stock today. In the end, we decided to just get a good set of Michelin "Energy" Tires and carry a can of "Fix a Flat" in the car. The Run Flats are a disaster. I suggest you wear out all four (which won't take long) and replace them all with another brand.

Possibly the worst tires ever made, the new car I am interested in buying also come with these junk tires and I am getting the chills.
After 15000 miles already 3 tires got punctured and at 27000 miles they are all worn out. The noise is terrible, the comfort is non-existent.

I checked the tires and the radials are showing at 32K miles. I can't believe they are so worn after only 32K miles. Piece of garbage, but what is my alternative?...

I would only purchase these tires again, because I can't find any other. My wife primarily drives my minivan and she told me the other day that she thinks she needs new tires. I checked the tires and the radials are showing at 32K miles. I can't believe they are so worn after only 32K miles. Piece of garbage, but what is my alternative? I can't take my chance on getting a flat tire. NEVER again will I buy a vehicle with no room for a spare. THANKS TOYOTA!

I bought 2 sets of these. was very unhappy with first pair. was advised this was the best for the money but i just can't do it again. overall, this is not a bad tire unless you like to drive aggressively. very noisy and ride is ok for a run flat. But tread wear is horrendous. after 20000 miles these tires are dead and dangerous, now below wear marks . in light snow they're fine, did not trust them in more than 2 inches and slippery in slush. will try continentals, much better ratings.

Awful tires! Never buying again! They came factory on our vehicle. We have 28k miles and have stayed on top of regular maintenance. They already need to be replaced and one is showing wire. At roughly $1000 to replace this is ridiculous! I shouldn't need to buy tires every 25k miles. I contacted Bridgestone and it's been 3 days with no response from them. Poor product and bad customer service.
