The Encounter AT is Sumitomo's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for drivers of pickup trucks, crossovers and SUVs who want go-anywhere capability and durability combined with confident all-season traction, even in snow.
Utilizing a rugged, all-terrain compound molded into a purposeful pattern, the Encounter AT is designed to perform on any surface. The open tread design features stepped edges on the center blocks for added bite in loose terrain, and the open shoulders employ connecting ribs for improved stability. Four wide, circumferential grooves effectively evacuate water from the contact patch for confident grip where standing water is present, and in-block sipes create the additional biting edges needed for traction on slippery surfaces. Winter-focused zigzag sipes in the shoulders and the independent tread blocks work together to provide snow traction. All tires in the Encounter AT lineup meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
The Encounter AT's internal construction consists of a two-ply polyester casing beneath two wide steel belts. A spirally wound reinforcement adds increased support for enhanced stability and ride comfort.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

The Sumitomo Encounter AT is built to offer powerful off-road abilities as an Off-Road All-Terrain tire, but hopes its on-road capabilities have what it takes to compete against two other competitors in the space.
Ratings data demonstrates the Bridgestone Turanza T005 excels in comfort, with smooth ride quality and low noise levels scoring consistently in the 8-10 range. Dry traction stands out as a top strength, with many ratings at 9-10 for confident handling and responsive steering. Wet performance is also strong, with high marks for grip and hydroplaning resistance, though a few scores dip to 7. Treadwear longevity receives mixed feedback, with most ratings in the 7-10 range but some lower scores indicating variability. As a grand touring summer tire, it delivers well-rounded performance in its intended categories of dry and wet traction.

These tires have great wet and dry traction. I have not put enough miles on to write on treadwear but hoping to get at least 30k out of them. I have not experienced much hydroplaning in heavy rains, they have excellent grip in the dry, and are reasonably quiet. A good all around tire.

...Florida based so handle well at speed in excess of 90+ also (passing on two lane roads, lol)...
Good looking tires, Florida based so rain conditions are important , handle well at speed in excess of 90+ also (passing on two lane roads, lol). Noise level on nice Florida interstate highways is great, and smooth riding tires also. I replaced previous Michelin Pilot Sport tires with these, couldn’t be happier. The buying experience was great, they arrived within 48 hours and I had a mobile installer come to my house and install-super convenient and fast. I will never sit in a tire store again and have my tires installed.

Excellent tire with balanced wet and dry grip. Low noise and great comfort. These wear fast but that’s to be expected with a European style summer tire. Great for every day driving as well as spirited back roads.

...I have this car flashed with over 300 hp so it moves, and these tires make me feel much more confident.
I'm really happy with these tires. The previous set was Continental ProContacts and were always too noisy for me, even when they were new. These Bridgestones feel so smooth on the road and are dead quiet. Like the most quiet tires I've had on a sporty car. ...The Turanza's must have a softer sidewall because the ride is noticeably improved... However, for the stuff I do most often (back and forth to work on a highway), the Turanza's are more comfortable...
I removed Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S tires to install these. The Michelins definitely have a stiffer sidewall and a more direct response to steering input. The Turanza's must have a softer sidewall because the ride is noticeably improved. However, quick steering inputs cause a half-step delay that actually upsets the balance a bit. I guess I was spoiled by the Michelins before and didn't realize it. However, for the stuff I do most often (back and forth to work on a highway), the Turanza's are more comfortable. I don't think they would perform well in an autocross, which I did several times with the Michelins and they performed well.

I got a little wider than stock size tires, the delivery was fast. I had nittos before was really noisy and vibrated a lot on freeway. These bridgestones are so quiet and smooth on the freeway. I don't think I will buy nittos again. Bridgestone is a bit pricey but worth it.

These were original equipment and I got 27000 miles from the rear and will probably get 30000+ miles from the front. For an EV, I would consider these exceptional results.
