The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is Continental's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for drivers of sports cars, sports coupes, performance sedans, SUVs and CUVs. Designed to improve upon key metrics compared to its predecessor, like braking in dry and wet, along with increased traction in snow and ice, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built to deliver skillful handling and high-speed capability with increased confidence for inclement weather, even in light snow.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus Callouts

Featuring an updated, performance-tuned all-season tread compound molded into an updated asymmetric tread design and utilizing SPORTPLUS+ Technology, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built for enhanced handling and braking performance. Macro-Blocks and Chamfered block edges help improve ultimate dry road traction and provide increased cornering responsiveness. Generous high angle and circumferential grooves help evacuate water from the contact patch for increased hydroplaning resistance. 3D sipes help retain handling precision while increasing the number of biting edges for improved wet traction, while X-Sipes are utilized to improve lateral and longitudinal grip in inclement weather. Traction grooves within the circumferential channels further enhance winter weather traction by improving snow-to-snow traction.

ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS tires feature an Alignment Verification System to help identify vehicle misalignment concerns early in the tire's life before wear patterns form. The system also confirms suitability for different driving conditions through Tuned Performance Indicators. Tuned Performance Indicators are visible letters molded into the second rib from the outboard shoulder to alert drivers of the tire's performance levels. A visible "DWS" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions, as well as wet roads and snow. After the "S" has worn away, the remaining "DW" indicates the tire only has appropriate tread depth for dry and most wet road conditions. After the "W" and "S" have both worn away, the remaining "D" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions only.

The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS incorporates a high strength, 2 ply sidewall construction for improved resistance to damage, along with a Sport Sidewall Insert for increased handling responsiveness. Continental's new high-strength, triple action, hybrid cap ply helps combine the positive attributes of a stiffer cord material for improved handling characteristics, while simultaneously retaining the benefits of a more flexible cord, helping maintain a smooth and quiet ride with an optimized contact patch for even wear and longer tread life.

Continental ContiSportContact 2 Reviews

Customer surveys indicate the Continental ContiSportContact 2 excels in dry traction (8-10 scores) with sharp handling and responsive steering, aligning with its Max Performance Summer design. Wet traction earns positive feedback (7-10 scores) for reliable grip, though some note reduced confidence in heavy rain. Comfort receives praise for a smooth ride (7-8 scores) despite occasional mentions of road noise. Treadwear is a notable concern, with many ratings in the 1-5 range, suggesting shorter lifespan under aggressive use. Drivers prioritizing summer performance and handling over longevity report high satisfaction, while those expecting extended mileage may find trade-offs.

...Wet traction is better than my previous cars with Michelin Super Sports, which were my previous favorite tire...

I purchased my S550 preowned and it came with these tires but almost balled. My first week we had 32 degree weather with very wet roads. I was shocked how well these performed (the fronts were at the wear bars). The response of the S550 is simply staggering with these tires and the car felt like a sports car in a luxury body. When I replaced them a few weeks ago I read all the negative reviews on here and went with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires instead. I immediately was upset after picking up the car from the dealer. The Michelins made my car handle COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. The steering response was gone, and the cornering was squirrelly and the side walls of the tire seemed extremely soft and unresponsive. The steering feel was gone and the ride was what I describe as jiggly. They made the S class extremely not fun to drive and the car lost all its confidence in the corner.

Tire Rack swapped them out for the proper Contisportcontact2 MO mercedes and I'm back to being extremely happy with the car. The steering response is amazing, zero lag. A perfect amount of feel comes through the wheel as well. They are actually quieter than the Michelins and the car rides better and handles like it's on rails. I'm not sure why the Pilot Sport 4S gets such high praise. If you are looking at tires for a Mercedes S class, SL, E, any AMG, definitely go with these and not the Pilot 4S. I also had the Michelin's on my C63 and had the same complaints (I just thought the S class wouldn't have the same sensitivity to tires so I tried them again). Wet traction is better than my previous cars with Michelin Super Sports, which were my previous favorite tire. They will wear much faster than michelins or other brands, but you will enjoy every mile which for me is worth the cost.

...Tires performed well; impressed with their wet traction, even during a deluge you keep your confidence in the tires which is impressive with the 295s that i have in the back...

This is the second set I've had on my car; the first one only lasted 8K miles; installed and aligned by Tire Kingdom, the current set was installed and aligned by the Porsche dealer; i have learned my lesson with that. Tires performed well; impressed with their wet traction, even during a deluge you keep your confidence in the tires which is impressive with the 295s that i have in the back. As mentioned in other reviews; the tires get pretty noisy, but then again they are high performance tires.

...Was good in the dry. Very grippy and lost traction was progressive...

This tire and size transformed the car. It was used nights/weekends/track events. With the street alignment the fronts did scrub a bit and were hard on the outer tread block. Lighter car and / or slightly more aggressive alignment would likely have alleviated the issue. Was quite quiet when new but slowly became noisier as mileage increased but nothing bad. Was good in wet but excellent in the dry. Very grippy and lost traction was progressive. Extremely happy with it.

...Dry traction is great, both braking and acceleration. Traction from a dig was superb, even with this being a FWD car. To break them loose, you really have to WANT them to...

This tire came stock on my 2009 Cobalt SS and I've loved every mile of driving with these on. The cornering ability with these tires is excellent and very predictable. I've put these tires through some high-speed turns once every now and then, and they don't hiccup in the slightest. Dry traction is great, both braking and acceleration. Traction from a dig was superb, even with this being a FWD car. To break them loose, you really have to WANT them to. I've had no trouble with hydroplaning throughout the entire life of the tire, either. I have not experienced much road noise, like some have said; nothing significant worth mentioning anyway. My only complaint is that this tire does not last very long. I barely made it to 20,000mi with normal driving habits (no racing or burnouts). If my car was a summer-only car, then I'd definitely buy these again. Since it's not, however, I switched to the Continental ExtremeTraction DWS (which are great too).

...On the track, this tire is noisy, but inspires confidence. It is very gentle approaching and exceeding the limit, very great as I pushed my car harder and harder. The levels of grip were very close to my R-compounds, to the point where I have decided the extra cost of r-comps is not worth it...

Fantastic Tire! I am mostly amazed at it's tread wear... 15000 miles, pushing hard + 8 track days (not holding back at all). On the track, this tire is noisy, but inspires confidence. It is very gentle approaching and exceeding the limit, very great as I pushed my car harder and harder. The levels of grip were very close to my R-compounds, to the point where I have decided the extra cost of r-comps is not worth it.

This is a great tire, although buying a replacement set, I decided to go with the newer Michelin Pilot Super Sport. My second alternative would be the Continental ContiExtreme DW, giving up some performance and treadlife at a lower cost. Hope this helps!

...I do love the blance of comfort vs. performance on my sport suspension...

After 7800 miles of spirited driving, I am halfway through the life of these OEM Conti Sport Contact 2.
Dry grip is less than expected for a "max" performance summer tire, but still pretty good. I do love the blance of comfort vs. performance on my sport suspension.
I do wish they had better tread life for the level of performance they offer, or more grip for the same tread life. Will be considering the Extreme Contact DW or the Potenza RE760 next.

...The ride is very smooth, yet sporty enough. They are a bit noisy, but not too much as to be bothersome... Great overall, I would def. buy these again.

I really like these tires. The ride is very smooth, yet sporty enough. They are a bit noisy, but not too much as to be bothersome. We also have the same tires on an M3 with 19" rims, and for some reason the tire & rim combination with 18" rims & Audi Ultra Sport PKG is much smoother... My car has quattro, but these tires are basically useless in the snow, even with Quattro. I feel very safe and confident while driving with these tires, they feel solidly planted on the road, even when wet. Great cornering and stability, and VERY comfortable on smooth roads. Great overall, I would def. buy these again.

...8k on these and tread is about gone and the tire whine is the worse I have ever had...

Worst tire I have ever owned. These are front tires and nearly all highway miles and the rated 280 treadwear is nonsense. 8k on these and tread is about gone and the tire whine is the worse I have ever had. Literally sounds like I am driving on off-road mud tires. Even penetrates the interior of my just about sound proof car! HORRIBLE, especially for the price!

Second leased car with this tire on it. Again, after only 3,500 miles tire wear is noticeable. Don't expect these to last over 15k. Just like the last pair I had on my prior car. Dry traction and cornering are good, braking is excellent, but it all goes downhill in the wet and the thread-wear is terrible for any tire category. This is with zero burnouts or street racing; just spirited driving.

...Most beautiful tire made but the worst tread life EVER. Never buy these tires unless you drive an inexpensive car that you don't care to much about.

I have 3,500 miles on the front and 6,500 miles on the rear. The fronts have 7/32nds and the rears have 3/32nds. They are quiet, and have a propensity to follow any groves in the road. Even my electronic suspension and steering ( which is supposed to correct for this issue) can't handle the issue. I personally would never buy another set of Continental tires again. My mothers has 22K miles on your S Class and has replaced all of them 4 times. Granted she loves a curb and they bubble up at the thought of a pot hole. Most beautiful tire made but the worst tread life EVER. Never buy these tires unless you drive an inexpensive car that you don't care to much about.
