The Discoverer Stronghold AT is Cooper's Off-Road All-Terrain tire, built for the drivers of pickups, crossovers, and SUVs looking for dependable traction off-road that can still offer some comfort on the pavement. Purpose-built to conquer dirt, gravel, mud, and the challenges of the city streets. It seamlessly blends off-road capability with secure on-road performance and reliable year-round traction. Notably, it handles light snow capably enough to meet the tire industry's severe snow service rating and displays the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
The Discoverer Stronghold AT's specialized rubber compound forms the base of its next-generation all-terrain tread pattern. This design features tough, interlocking tread blocks for off-road action, while adjusting the individual lug designs for improved tread-life and resistance to irregular wear. The alternating scoop lugs in the shoulders join the distinctive hook sidewall molding to find grip in gravel or loose soil, while stone-ejecting ledges between each block keep rocks from getting lodged in the tread. Deep, circumferential grooves and wide, lateral notches fight against hydroplaning. Alternating textured edges lining the shoulder block interiors create biting edges needed for snow traction when winter strikes.
The internal construction of the Discoverer Stronghold AT consists of a robust, two-ply polyester casing. A single-ply, polyamide reinforcement above two high-strength steel belts further increases durability and handling response, along with providing high-speed stability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Taking Off-Road Tires On-Road - 2024 Test 9 – With Winter Update(31:03)
Twelve selections from the On-Road, Off-Road, and Rugged All-Terrain categories comprise this All-Terrain tire test to see how they stack up when it comes to daily driving. A/T tires excel off the beaten path, but what about the rest of the time? The popular aesthetics of this category lead to many using them on their daily drivers. So, what are you sacrificing by choosing these products for your concrete journeys? Noise, comfort, handling, safety, and winter performance are all considered when we test all-terrain off-road tires on the road!
Drivers consistently rate the Continental ContiSportContact 5P as excellent in dry traction (9-10 scores) with precise cornering and responsive handling, living up to its Max Performance Summer intent. Wet traction earns strong marks (7-10), offering reliable grip in rain. Comfort receives mixed feedback, praised for smooth rides but noted for occasional road noise and firmness. Treadwear is a common concern, with lower scores (3-5) indicating faster wear than some expect. Ideal for drivers prioritizing dry and wet performance over longevity, this tire excels in its category while trade-offs in comfort and tread life are noted.

These tires came stock on my '13 C63 sedan. Overall, they're pretty great considering this car's intended purpose and intended road surfaces - great wet/dry traction, braking distance and braking pedal feel, steering precision/response. If you mostly use your car on the track and/or you live in a location with warm/moderate climate and properly maintained roads - this is a good tire model to use, just as good as (or at least very close to) the Michelin's PSS.
But! But if you're one of the very unfortunate, miserable souls who had great misfortune to live in a location with highly variable winter weather (sudden freezing temperatures quickly changing to above freezing and then dropping back to below 32F) and extremely poorly maintained roads/highways and you're still brave enough to drive your "sporty" car often on local streets - stay away from these tires. Any moderately (by NorthEastern "standards") irregular road surface combined with "sporty" suspension becomes a torture and there's a great amount of road noise being generated when driving on top of "worn out" asphalt/concrete road (even on a pretty flat surface without any bumps/potholes). I am one of such unlucky persons and I will definitely be trying out some other tire model instead which will hopefully be more quiet and at least a little bit "softer" when being driven on local roads because I really don't want to give up driving my current car or void its warranty by changing the coilovers.

I needed to replace my ContiSportContact 3 and decided to give the latest and greatest a shot. I was not disappointed with these tires. They preformed very well and met every expectation I had, both wet and dry. I drive spiritedly so I require a tire that will meet my demands.

OEM tire on my 2016 S3. No complaints in performance. They've broken loose a few times but in a predictable manner. Wet traction exceeded my expectations. Drove 400 miles in a Texas thunderstorm on super wet highways and never once felt like they would fail me. After 15K they have 7/32 left, sure they'll last a while longer. They do seem a bit loud, I had Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's on an 07 Cayman S that were much quieter.

Most customers rate dry traction 9-10, highlighting excellent grip and responsive handling. While a few scores dip to 4-5, the ContiSportContact 5P delivers confident dry performance expected from max summer tires.

...These tires are the most compliant tires on a dry surface that I have ever driven - and light!! - minimal addition of unsprung weight, so steering and handling are second to none...
I have driven very high performance Italian and German cars for 30 years. i have tried 'em all - most good, some great, some overrated. These tires are the most compliant tires on a dry surface that I have ever driven - and light!! - minimal addition of unsprung weight, so steering and handling are second to none. Though Michelin Super Sports do slighly better on a wet surface, these are very good wet and I'd have to say that the Super Sports, though close, are my second choice for a great high performance tire. Both beat out anything Pirelli, Michelin Pilots 2 and 3 and any other Continentals I have driven (and anything else, and there have been so many). In fact, if I had to pick a third place high performance tire, I'd go with the Sumitomo HTR Z III over those others as well (and great if you are looking for a less painfiul price tag). But, in short, for me, the Continental The ContiSportContact 5P is the high performance king (for now - w a VERY close second to Michelin Super Sports - because of slightly better rain performance and her less aggressive driving style, i use the Super Sports on my wife's Maserati).

Replaced my second set of Run Flats with these staggered Continentals. I was looking to put Michelin Super Sports on the car, but could not find a set anywhere. These Continentals relatively quiet, and compared to the RFT's they replaced, have much better dry grip. Reaction to steering input and turn-in response is excellent. The car feels stable throughout the corner and appears to have less body roll. The side walls are very stiff on the these Continentals; I was afraid the ride would suffer, but have been happy with the ride thus far.

...very good dry traction... Excellent cornering stability and extremely responsive...
These are the OEM tires that came on my 2015 Audi S3. Overall they are a fantastic summer performance tire with very good dry traction and fairly decent wet traction. Excellent cornering stability and extremely responsive. My two hesitations for buying these tires again are the noise on the tires (they are pretty loud) and the wear; I just swapped these out for my winter wheels/tires and realized that I will probably have to replace them by summer. As a daily driver (with maybe a little bit of fun) I was hoping they'd have lasted a bit longer and why I will probably go with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions to replace given cost/value.

...WAY more comfortable than the OEM Pirelli run flats I had before. Those Pirellis felt like I was driving on bricks. Incredibly harsh. These Contis are like a breath of fresh air...
Very happy, these are WAY more comfortable than the OEM Pirelli run flats I had before. Those Pirellis felt like I was driving on bricks. Incredibly harsh. These Contis are like a breath of fresh air. I am giving up probably a few tenths of cornering grip compared to the Pirellis but it''s probably not noticeable on the street or even on offramps, etc. The Contis are quiet, comfortable and provide more than sufficient grip for my needs. Unless you are autocrossing it seems to me you''ll rarely if ever exceed the limits of these tires. We''ve not had a ton of rain so my review on wet traction should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Lateral stability is great, no squirminess. And tire wear "appears" to be reasonable, again, I don''t have a lot of miles on these yet so I will amend this review in a year or so. But overall, I am really happy with these. In fact, when I needed to replace the Pirellis on my wife''s GLE 43 I ordered Contis for her too. And I had Contis on my older E350 a few years ago with no problems.

Very surprised at the ride comfort difference compared to the OEM Bridgestone tire. I think the performance aspect will be superior as well. Only have 9K miles on the OEM tires when a bubble appeared on one front sidewall. Highly recommend for anyone with an SL55/63.

I have driven them all, and this is easily the most compliant street tire I have ever used - so light. There are other great handling tires out there, like the Michelin Super Sport, but this, the Conti 5P, IMO, is the one!!

Treadwear disappoints with many scores between 0-6. Customers report rapid wear, premature replacement, and dissatisfaction. While some rate 9s/10s, concerns about short tread life dominate feedback.

Very disappointed in the tread life of this tire. I have had other performance tires before (Michelin PS2, Bridgestone), but I have not seen such deterioration after only 8 months of use. These are OEM on my M4. Called BMW NA, was told that I am basically on my own, new BMWs do not come with any tread warranty. I am wondering is they will last one more season.
