The Discoverer A/T3LT is Cooper's On-Road All-Terrain tire designed for the drivers of pickup trucks, work vehicles and full-size SUVs who need a tire that provides the rugged durability required to keep up with their active lifestyles. Engineered to tackle dirt, gravel, mud and the urban jungle, the Discoverer A/T3LT combines off-road prowess with agreeable on-road comfort and year-round traction, including light snow traction that meets the tire industry's severe snow service rating requirements and earns the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Durable-Tread Technology combines a shred-resistant silica compound with the Discoverer A/T3LT 's next-generation all-terrain tread pattern. Cooper's Even Wear Arc Technology optimizes the shape of the footprint for balanced pressure at the contact patch, improving handling and promoting even treadwear. The tread pattern is designed to aid dry traction, while Whisper Grooves between the outboard tread blocks help reduce noise throughout the tire's life. Stone ejector ledges help prevent punctures due to stone drilling, and the alternating scoop and cleat lugs in the shoulder are designed to provide grip on rock, in thick mud or loose soil. Deep, circumferential channels and wide, lateral notches improve hydroplaning resistance, while multiple zigzag sipes in the independent tread blocks create the biting edges needed for traction in slippery conditions. Snow Groove Technology uses saw-tooth block edges to trap snow in the tread for effective snow-to-snow traction.
The internal construction of the Discoverer A/T3LT consists of a robust, two-ply polyester casing. A single-ply, nylon reinforcement above two high-strength steel belts further increases durability and handling response, along with providing high-speed stability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...These handle really well on dry or wet pavement, have a lot less noise than I was expecting with the aggressive tread pattern, and have just proven to be a solid all around tire - until you get on snow or ice...
I've had this tire on a 2006 Ram 2500 (load range E 10 ply) for the past 60,000 Minnesota miles. They still have a 6/32" of tread, though I run on gravel roads a lot more often than most people. But this is still almost double the miles I got from my last set of tires. Here's my take: These handle really well on dry or wet pavement, have a lot less noise than I was expecting with the aggressive tread pattern, and have just proven to be a solid all around tire - until you get on snow or ice. Then they're bad. I think Cooper must have used a really hard tread compound that sacrifices cold weather performance for longer life. I don't think I'll get these next time because I live in MN, but I would definitely get them again if all my driving was in a warmer climate.

Winter traction receives strong ratings, with most scoring 8-10 in snow and deep snow. Ice performance is generally positive with many 9s and 10s, though some lower scores indicate variability in severe icy conditions.

...The most snow Ive ever had them in was about 14 inches and they gripped and we plowed through the snow with hardly any problems. Ice is the only situation wherw these tires aren't great, but that goes for a majority of the tires on the market anyway...
This is the 2nd set of these tires I've bought. I got just over 70k out of the first set, ran them at 45psi and rotate and balanced them at every oil change. They did so well, I got another set. I have over 40k on them and they still look fairly new and still ride good. They aren't as quiet as the Michelins I had on a previous truck, but for a AT tire, they aren't awful. I mostly drive country roads, gravel roads, some highway, some mud, and through rain and snow when we get any. I will say 99% of the time these tires grip and go, and rarely slip. The most snow Ive ever had them in was about 14 inches and they gripped and we plowed through the snow with hardly any problems. Ice is the only situation wherw these tires aren't great, but that goes for a majority of the tires on the market anyway. If we get ice, I usually don't have to drive anywhere anyway so its ok. Otherwise, they are great tires and I will keep buying them.

...In my experience, these tires work great in the snow...
I don't usually write reviews, but I felt this tire was somewhat misrepresented in other reviews, especially concerning performance in the snow. I had the Cooper Discoverer AT3 on a truck I owned previously, and was very impressed with them. When it came time to replace the tires on my current truck, I read the reviews for all of the similar tires. It was mostly my previous experience with the AT3 that led me to buy them again. My truck is not driven off-road normally, but is used to plow snow, pull a trailer, and driven everyday. In my experience , these tires work great in the snow. They balance easily, wear well, and make very little noise on the highway for an all terrain tire. I consider them to be a very good all around tire.

...These Cooper tires feel like they are bullet proof... they're grippy, provide good traction and they aren't noisy...
I had these tires put on three months ago. I do mostly city and highway driving but I wanted a heavy duty tire that handled well in all conditions without excessive road noise. These tires were a great find! I have been very pleased with the construction and overall quality of these tires. Cooper did an excellent job designing and testing these tires for truck use. My previous set of tires on my truck were Firestone Destinations. I was very unhappy with how those performed. Even though those still had plenty of tread left on them, I couldn't trust them after three separate hydroplaning events at very slow speeds. Hydroplaning can easily happen at high speed on any tire, but when you are driving cautiously through heavy rain at slow speeds and you are still hydroplaning, the tires need to go. These Cooper tires feel like they are bullet proof. American made,10 ply rating, rock removing tread and they weight 50 lbs a piece. Sure, these tires hurt your acceleration a little, but they're grippy, provide good traction and they aren't noisy. I'm hoping to have several years and many many miles out of these tires.
Pros: Quiet, Tough, Heavy, Grippy, American Made in Arkansas
Cons: Ride a little rough, probably due to all of the tread, not a deal breaker for me though Mileage suffered a little, but it's worth the good handling in bad weather

...Immediate steering respond improvement, traction in all conditions, and ride comfort especially on rough roads...
I had the GY wranglers from the factory just so you know what my comparison point is. That being said, there is no comparison to the AT3s. Immediate steering respond improvement, traction in all conditions, and ride comfort especially on rough roads. The only, and I mean only, downside are the inherent changes going from an all-season to an all-terrain tire. A slight drop in fuel efficiency (<1 mpg) and a little more road noise. Stable, dependable, and worth every penny.

...Good traction all around, even when you put it in sport mode and stomp on the gas. Can feel a bit squishy in corners, but never lost traction...
Overall a great choice. Quiet ride in all conditions - really noticeable when driving on ground-down highway between these tires and other vehicles. Good traction all around, even when you put it in sport mode and stomp on the gas. Can feel a bit squishy in corners, but never lost traction. Did notice a drop in MPG (about 2) after changing from the stock all-seasons that came with the truck. Treadwear is a bit iffy - have some odd center wear like they were severely overinflated, even though I'm religious about maintaining proper inflation and alignment. However, did a lot of heavy towing recently so I'm going to blame that. Definitely staying with Cooper AT3s.

Smooth ride, even at highway speeds. Surprisingly quiet...
Smooth ride, even at highway speeds. Surprisingly quiet. Load rating of these tires has made it easier to haul my trailer and tractor. When towing, my truck has more controlled steering due to less drag on the rear. I've always had good luck with Cooper tires but these are the best truck tires I've ever owned. The tires hug the road, no matter the weather. Haven't had any hydroplaning issues on roads. On the job site they cut through mud and dirt easily. I rarely have to use the four wheel drive. I wouldn't go "mudding" with these tires but they aren't made for that. Haven’t had them in the snow and ice yet so I can't comment on winter driving but on wet, dry asphalt and in the mud these are the best truck tires I've owned. Too bad they are discontinuing these tires. I would definitely buy them again.

...My first lasted 45000 ( however they were only rated to 40K at the time ) These are rated to 60K ! must be a new tire compound... I rotate my tires every oil change (5k) and the wear pattern is perfect.
This is my second set of tires. My first lasted 45000 ( however they were only rated to 40K at the time ) These are rated to 60K ! must be a new tire compound. I had no issue with them in the Pennsylvania winters before, and expect the same with these. Being a light truck tire - they are not quiet, but not over noisy either. At highway speeds the radio easily drowns out the road noise. I rotate my tires every oil change (5k) and the wear pattern is perfect. AT 45k my last tires would have barely passed state inspection, but they would have passed. I purchased new ones due to a planned vacation trip to Florida ( 2500 miles in a week ) and just wanted the peace of mind. You will be happy with these, I know I am !

This is the second set of these tires Ive had on this truck and am about to buy a third set. If you keep these tires rotated as I have they will FAR surpass their warranty mileage. My first set was ran for quite some time on bad ball joints as well and still cleared the warranty mileage. No road noise, good in snow, I do a lot of towing and just havent had one complaint. I was always against Cooper tires because of one past bad experience but as far as light truck tires go this is the only tire Ill buy. Great value for the money!!

I have had these tires on several vehicles, they are one of the better and longer lasting tires I have used. The price is very reasonable for the performance you get from these tire. I also have Cooper Endeavor SL tires on my wife Subaru, great ride and performace and mileage. Will continue to by Cooper tires for my vehicles.
