Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

Original Equipment (O.E.) self-supporting run-flat summer tires are an appropriate tire choice for sporty vehicles manufactured in the U.S., as well as those imported from Europe and Asia. Developed for use on new cars and light trucks, these tires offer temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete pressure loss, as well as provide a sporty blend of ride quality, noise comfort and handling, along with dry and wet traction. These tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology (DSST) tires incorporate special sidewall reinforcements that support the weight of the vehicle even after sustaining air pressure losses that would render conventional tires immobile. While internal tire damage will likely make replacement necessary, DSST tires are designed to endure being run on while flat for up to 50 miles at speeds up to 55 mph and provide drivers the temporary extended mobility necessary to drive through stormy weather and away from dangerous situations.

Original Equipment self-supporting run-flat summer tires are most often repurchased as direct replacements for pairs and sets of worn out Original Equipment tires and DSST tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

While we attempt to provide a picture of as many of these tires as possible, the pictures used to represent these tires cannot be guaranteed to be an exact depiction of each tire's appearance because of the variety of subtle differences in tread designs and sidewall styling.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST Reviews

Customer feedback indicates the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST delivers strong dry traction (scores 7-10), with many praising its confident grip and cornering stability in dry conditions. Wet traction shows mixed results (scores 1-8), as some drivers report adequate hydroplaning resistance while others note reduced confidence in heavy rain. Comfort receives polarized ratings-while some appreciate the ride quality (scores 6-8), frequent complaints about road noise (scores 0-5) detract from the experience. Treadwear scores vary widely (0-9), with several users noting shorter-than-expected lifespan despite the tire's performance focus. While excelling in its core summer capabilities, noise and inconsistent wet performance emerge as notable trade-offs.

This are great tires. I don't understand the bad reviews given. Every tire can fail when hitting a pothole. They ride nice and seem to be designed for high speed. I could not resist the sale out price, so I got a total of 6. My car has over 350 horses and they tires do well, much better than the Bridgestone and Goodyears. I expect to get like 20K on the rears and maybe 30k on the front.

...Absolute garbage in the rain.

Hands down the worst tire I have ever had on a vehicle. Dealer put these on when I bought my X5. Absolute garbage in the rain.

...They drive okay in dry conditions city and highway, but tread not good in wet weather or near the first fall of snow.

The tire wears too fast. I will not purchase again. They drive okay in dry conditions city and highway, but tread not good in wet weather or near the first fall of snow.

Also: Have a friend in our BMW club that switched to non run flats and changed the brand with the same vehicle, and their gas consumption changed about 3% savings. That is a plus for me. I am ready for a smoother ride and less noise.

The care can not really be driven comfortably at highways speeds except for the first few weeks of 4 new tires or until the first pothole...

The worst consumer purchase I ever made was to buy BMW with these run-flat tires. I blame BMW who drives Dunlop. These tires should be reviewed by the DOT and outlawed/recalled for the following reasons: 1.) IMPACT Low impact resistance causes sidewalls to break and then bubble and then become out-of-round 2.) INFLATION The exact inflation requirement is faulty/unpredictable until the tires are well worn. 3.)ALIGNMENT Rear wheels on the BMW are set to a high camber (about 3 degrees) causing the inside heel of the tires to wear way too fast. Prone to blowouts. 4.) ROTATING MASS The Run Flat sidewalls are massive chunks of rubber that re-form during several days of parking (e.g. airport). The tires are always out of balance and out of round. The care can not really be driven comfortably at highways speeds except for the first few weeks of 4 new tires or until the first pothole. 5.) INSTALLATION - The technicians at many tire shops hate these tires due to difficulty and consequential damage to the rim and tire. Or, most tire shops won't work with run-flat tires. 6.) OWNERSHIP - the idea of operating a motor vehicle with no spare means that eventually, you'll have to call a tow-truck, put your car in the shop for 3 days, and wait for the specialty non-stock tire to arrive. A flat tire experience costs about $850. It is true, BMW is the ultimate driving experience especially with run-flat tires.

...When you hit any size pot hole with this tire it will rattle the entire car. The ride is very hard...

I have been driving this vehicle for about 14 months. I had Dunlap tires,SP SPORT MAXX GT DSST and within the past 6 months I have replaced three tires because of bubbles on the side walls. When you hit any size pot hole with this tire it will rattle the entire car. The ride is very hard. I was afraid to get out on any highway at any speed above 70mph. After the third ruined tire I decide to replace all four with non run flat tires. I'll live with having to call a roll back if I have a flat but the difference in the ride with the replacement Michelin Pilot Sport AS is unbelievable. (PS I have a SP SPORT MAXX GT DSST with 75 miles on it, sitting in my garage if anyone is interested in buying it cheap!

Tire does not wear well. Significant highway tire noise. Sidewall gives very stiff ride. Stiff sidewall ruptures in minor potholes. Tire sidewalk stiffness bends and ruins aluminum rim. Would not trust this tire on a long road trip. Would never buy again.

...While the performance is great, the durability is not. With about 82,000 miles currently, the car has been through 4 sets of tires. The tread life isn't very good...

In Miami we have rain.......not drizzle like up north. These tires have been outstanding proving strong grip and I only slow slightly when the water pours. Braking is little different. On a dry road you'll get thrown across the car before the grip loosens. I've had my 2011 X5 since it was new 11/2010. I picked it up at the plant in Greenville, SC. I haven't a clue why some reviewers are rating this tire not so well. My rear tire is the same but in a 315/35R20 and the combo looks awesome.
Thats the good news and now for the not so good news....... While the performance is great, the durability is not. With about 82,000 miles currently, the car has been through 4 sets of tires. The tread life isn't very good. If all goes well and you keep the tires properly inflated, you'll see the outside tread on the corner edge of the tire get low to the point it's smooth while the flat surface is still meaty........change the tire. If the tire is not properly cared for you may see a waffling effect on that same edge which will kill the tire within a few months. The tire gets a high/low effect on this area and you'll hear it during driving once it becomes bad. I've rarely seen this on tires but it's happened twice with this brand. If you're desperate to get super milage/time with a tire and you're counting the change you need for tires, don't buy the Dunlops. If you want super performance with a sticky tire and badass look, this is for you. That said, remember that I drive these tires primarily in Miami so my roads are either melty hot or hurricane wet which are great for these Dunlop Sport Maxx's. I'm actually about to change my tires to an all season for driving in New England soon and yes, I'm slowing down.
