Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

Original Equipment (O.E.) self-supporting run-flat summer tires are an appropriate tire choice for sporty vehicles manufactured in the U.S., as well as those imported from Europe and Asia. Developed for use on new cars and light trucks, these tires offer temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete pressure loss, as well as provide a sporty blend of ride quality, noise comfort and handling, along with dry and wet traction. These tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology (DSST) tires incorporate special sidewall reinforcements that support the weight of the vehicle even after sustaining air pressure losses that would render conventional tires immobile. While internal tire damage will likely make replacement necessary, DSST tires are designed to endure being run on while flat for up to 50 miles at speeds up to 55 mph and provide drivers the temporary extended mobility necessary to drive through stormy weather and away from dangerous situations.

Original Equipment self-supporting run-flat summer tires are most often repurchased as direct replacements for pairs and sets of worn out Original Equipment tires and DSST tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

While we attempt to provide a picture of as many of these tires as possible, the pictures used to represent these tires cannot be guaranteed to be an exact depiction of each tire's appearance because of the variety of subtle differences in tread designs and sidewall styling.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Customers Say

Driver experiences vary. The Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST earns strong praise for dry traction (scores 7-10), with many noting confident grip and responsive handling in summer conditions. Wet traction receives mixed feedback-some report decent hydroplaning resistance (7-8), but others highlight reduced confidence in heavy rain (scores as low as 1-4). Comfort is a common concern, with harsh ride quality and excessive road noise (frequent 1-3 scores) frustrating drivers. Treadwear also draws criticism, as multiple users report premature wear (scores 0-5) despite the tire's performance focus. While it excels in dry scenarios, buyers prioritizing refinement or wet-weather versatility may find limitations.

...Excellent grip in both dry and wet. Stick very well in turns, accelerating and braking...

I would normally wait to leave a review until i have more mile but since there are so few reviews i figured i would leave. I'm experienced with tires having pilot sports, potenza re050, etc. I find these tires to be very good. Excellent grip in both dry and wet. Stick very well in turns, accelerating and braking. Comfort on a runflat will never be as comfortable as a non-runflat however i think these are very good considering even with low profile (245/40/19 275/35/19). Cannot yet comment on wear, hydroplaning or bubbles in sidewall since i haven't had long enough yet. will update when more miles acquired.

These came as original equipment and would not be a reasonable choice for a vehicle which sees 4 deasons as does mine. Wet traction was marginal and of course snow traction was nonexistent. Road noise was appreciable, but one of the worst faults was the ultrarapid wear and once marginally worn, they chased every imperfection in the pavement. Super scary! My wife refused to drive it. Her Infiniti M37X is a little squirrely, but the X5 was just plain spooky with the Dunlop run flats. I ditched them at 8K miles and swapped in a set of Continental DWS and am happy. They actually grip on a non summer day. Yes, I had the alignment checked at the dealer and at a custom shop. The tires are freaky when partially worn.

Having these as OEM with my MY11 BMW 535i. All in all they're OK on dry nice road, but are of total nightmare on wet or on less-than-ideal road surfaces such as uneven pavement. During fast cornering (just fast, not on-the-limit fast), car would loss ALL grip and drift sideway upon encountering irregularities, such as small bumps or metallic manhole covers). Avoid them at all cost.

...In wet conditions, these are pretty useless. For example, anytime I come out of a carwash, I can expect to slide around under normal acceleration until they dry out.

Kind of disappointing that this is the OEM tire on a $75,000 car. It's nice on dry conditions, if a little rough. I wouldn't say the noise is overwhelming, but it's not a comfortable ride by any means.

...These tires are fantastic for a run-flat. But compared to other sport tires, I just can't give them more than a 7...

This tire performs quite well in all summer conditions. When brand new, they are fantastic in wet conditions and a very quiet on the highway. But since they wear incredibly fast, the wet weather performance starts to drop off. My ratings are based on the overall experience, not just the brand new performance (which would be mostly 9s and 10s)

Part of the wear issue is due to my car's design. I can't rotate tires front to rear (245s on the front 275's on the rear) and BMW puts more camber in the geometry than some other brands. The net result is the inner edges of the tires wear quickly and in the case of these tires, the wear became cupping which made for a lot of noise at highway speeds. The rest of the tire wear was even across the width of the tire, but still faster than I hoped for. The tread life rating of 240 worked out to about 16,000 miles in my case.

A quick note on ride comfort: These tires are fantastic for a run-flat. But compared to other sport tires, I just can't give them more than a 7.

My performance comments go something like this: The rear grip was adequate for every situation I found myself in. Under-steer is the enemy of performance on most production cars, and it is huge in my car/tire combination. There is very little warning as you start to break free and then she just wants to go straight. Will a different tire correct the under-steer? Probably not. But I'm hoping a different tire will give a better feel as I reach the traction limit.

For my next set I'm considering Pilot Super Sport, ExtremeContact DW, and possibly the Pilot A/S Gen 3.

...Oh, and the tire wear is some of the worst I have ever seen. I got to 12K miles, but that was a stretch - they probably should have been changed about 1000 miles earlier...

These were stock equipment for my 2012 BMW X5 with the sports activity package (20" wheels), and what a huge disappointment they were. Initially responsiveness, handling, and noise were average but soon after nosedived. The tire noise is almost unbelieveable when these tires get to 10K miles. Oh, and the tire wear is some of the worst I have ever seen. I got to 12K miles, but that was a stretch - they probably should have been changed about 1000 miles earlier. The tires were good in dry weather, but pretty mediocre in wet weather. I drive dedicated snow tires in the winter, so I can comment on the snow worthiness, but that's a no-no anyway. I will not buy these tires again, and would not recommend them either. I may not buy the Dunlop brand ever again - that's how unhappy I am with their product. I've never reviewed a tire before, but feel I need to inform other potential buyers. Look elsewhere.
