The WeatherGrip is Firestone's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, family sedans, station wagons and crossovers looking to combine daily comfort, wet grip and satisfying tire life with enhanced light snow traction. WeatherGrip tires were designed as an all-weather tire to meet industry severe snow service requirements qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance. It is Intended as a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don't receive sufficient snowfall or icy conditions to require a dedicated winter tire.

The all-season tread compound of the WeatherGrip is molded into a traction-focused, directional pattern. Firestone's Hydro-Grip Technology Package utilizes a rounded footprint that pierces through standing water, plus full-depth grooves and open shoulder slots to help resist hydroplaning. Chamfered shoulder blocks provide additional contact with the road for enhanced braking in all conditions. Snow Traction Claw technology on the center and shoulder ribs plus snow vices on the intermediate ribs help provide confident traction in light snow, while the high-density zigzag sipes and interlocking grooves of the TractionTech Package create more edges for enhanced performance in slippery conditions throughout the tire's life.

Internal construction of the WeatherGrip consists of a single-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A nylon reinforcement aids in handling performance and provides high-speed durability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Wet traction is ridiculously good and only in the deepest standing water +1/2" is there any chance of hydroplaning...

These are FANTASTIC tires. I have never had issues in slick weather with having nearly any unexpected slipping. Very predictable with speed and torque in deep snow or snow packed roads. If I had anything discretionary to say about these tires is that they are a bit "hummy" on dry pavement at low speeds. Oh one other issue is asking to have them rotated in the spring and the garage thinks they are winter tires and we will be removing them soon so they ignore the service order. :) High speed handling is reasonably tight (obviously not a Firehawk or Eagle GT), but I have taken them aggressively through a number of tight ramps with no unexpected loss of traction. Wet traction is ridiculously good and only in the deepest standing water +1/2" is there any chance of hydroplaning. I have 40K on these tires and they are still a couple of mills above the treadwear indicators so I'll probably be buying another set in the fall / early winter. Guarantee for tread life is for 65K so I'd say that is pretty accurate.

...excellent snow traction saved my bacon, I even forced my way through 4" of packed snow in an unattended parking lot with AWD off...

I dont write reviews often but i have quite an adventure on my road trip to Toronto Canada and feel like leaving one for reference

1. This tire behaves normally at normal highway speed but the noise level rises dramatically once you reach 75mph+ on an interstate highway
2. Encounter a snowstorm in Buffalo, NY. excellent snow traction(for all-season) saved my bacon, I even forced my way through 4" of packed snow in an unattended parking lot with AWD off.

conclusion, if u want winter performance and don't live on the interstate highway, this is a good buy.

I drive Uber Premier (black car)... It's very hilly here and it's snowed a lot. These tires are amazing in snow ice slush... I'm in snow ice slush mostly highway but taking people home to back roads Country untreated roads long driveways. Theses are great. I have so much confidence in them.

I bought the Weathergrip in Jan 4,2021. I live north of Pittsburgh and drive full time 300-500 miles a day at the airport. I drive Uber Premier (black car)
I’ve driven 14,000 miles in a little less than 2 months. It’s very hilly here and it’s snowed a lot.
These tires are amazing. I usually use Blizak ws90 and switch out for the warm months but since I put these on in Jan 2 winter months past buy I thought I’d switch up ant try these. My last car got rear ended in Dec and I sold it after the insurance co fixed it. It had Ned Blizaks on it.
I’m in snow ice slush mostly highway but taking people home to back roads Country untreated roads long driveways. Theses are great. I have so much confidence in them. When it’s bad weather out other drivers stay home. I make great money with these. I’m so happy I found them.
They have a slight road noise. Very slight. I drive picky people who pay alot. No complaints ever. With 14,000 on them now very little wear so far. I rotate them every 4 thousand miles with my oil changes.
I have Goodyear Wether ready on my wife’s and both daughters cars since they don’t drive out when it’s real bad. But I wanted a good all weather tire for them. This has the exact same amount of noise as them.
Rain, light snow and up to 8 inches of snow up hills and down. These tires won’t let you down. Dry is very good too. No complaints.

...In normal dry conditions they feel great and responsive, and hold the road excellent...

This is one seriously good tire. Traction is absolutely fantastic. I feel very safe in heavy rain with these tires, I've even tried to lose traction on quiet back roads and I couldn't. We visited an Amish farm that was very muddy, and these tires got my Corolla through without even a slip. It hasn't snowed yet, but I would imagine they will do great when it does. In normal dry conditions they feel great and responsive, and hold the toad excellent. Only downside is they are slightly noisy at times, but its very manageable and I've gotten used to it. The noise is due to the aggressive tread pattern, which is why these tires have such great traction and are very safe. I would recommend these 110%, especially if you live somewhere with a mixed climate.

These tires grip on dry and wet roads! I had to get used to them at first because they felt like they were glued to the road, literally. I would be going down hills I've traveled many times before and it felt like I was dragging an anchor, I just wasn't coasting down them as fast (granted my old tires were pretty worn so they didn't have much grip anymore)...

These tires do grip on dry and wet roads! I had to get used to them at first because they felt like they were glued to the road, literally. I would be going down hills I've traveled many times before and it felt like I was dragging an anchor, I just wasn't coasting down them as fast (granted my old tires were pretty worn so they didn't have much grip anymore). If I remember correctly, I did lose some miles/gallon at first until they wore in a bit.
I really bought these tires hoping for a bit more traction in snowy conditions. With the Outback I wasn't concerned about getting stuck but wanted better stopping and cornering confidence in the snow. I had to wait a while for the snow but did experience rainy days and was really impressed with wet weather handling, especially hydroplaning. These definitely grip well when wet out. I have to say though that I was disappointed in the snow handling. I was right about the Outback not getting stuck, I could drive through snow up to my hood without getting stuck but on lighter snow they never gave me the confidence I was looking for. Braking and cornering were so-so and would slip and slide more than I wished.
I did get decent life out of them even though I drive pretty hard and had a worn out tie rod, about 45,000 miles.
I rarely get the same tires so I am going to try a different brand (Falken A/T Trails) but if you're looking for a good wet weather tire the Firestones are excellent in my opinion.

...The ride is comfortable and my gas mileage improved by a few miles per gallon and is the best it's ever been (even with the Ecopia "ecofriendly" garbage tires that came standard on the RAV4 and totally wore out in 30k)...

Best tires I've had on my Toyota by a mile. They certainly live up to their name as their handling in severe weather is fantastic. Torrential rain and standing water were no match for this tire recently. I also had (limited) snow and ice here in the Carolina mountains with these tires and felt completely safe as an experienced driver in these type of conditions. The tire is definitely worthy of the 3 Peak brand it sports! The ride is comfortable and my gas mileage actually improved by a few miles per gallon and is the best it's ever been (even with the Ecopia "ecofriendly" garbage tires that came standard on the RAV4 and totally wore out in 30k). I drive rideshare and am on the road A LOT and would not hesitate to purchase this tire again especially at the price point*. The only thing I cannot comment on yet is the treadwear and will try to come back and update this review at a later date to say how well they are wearing.

The only drawbacks I can mention is that the tires are slightly noisier than others I've owned. They are unidirectional as well which limits rotation. There is a very, very slight response delay only really noticeable if you are used to legit sporty driving. I also have a tough time keeping them clean but maybe that's just me!

* I noticed when writing this review (March 2021) that the set I purchased is currently on closeout. Their country of origin was Argentina according to TR while the updated model is being manufactured right here in the USA and is $15 more expensive. Please Firestone... do not mess up this tire! I just thought people should be aware of this change looking at the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and I hope for them to continue!

...The tires are responsive and wearing well...

Even though my size is getting harder to find, I am happy with these tires. They are on the back of a lincoln towncar so take that into account. I drive my car with 475,000 miles on it everyday, so know how is responds. Although I drive it like a limo, smooth starts and stops, the in between time is spirited. 70-80 mph most of the time on highway, but have fun on traffic circles. The tires are responsive and wearing well. I would buy again.

Great tire compared to the specified Bridgestone tire. They do not hydroplane and handle much more securely. They feel like they have good traction. Wear seems the same as the previous tires and there is plenty of tread left, more than an 1/8th of an inch more than on the raised wear indicator (maybe 3/8th total) so I expect to get at least the advertised life out of them. ...Tire life looks to be good also as they have way more than half of the tread left I believe I will get 60,000 miles easily...

I bought these as a replacement to my 2 sets of tires 1 for summer 1 for winter. I used Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter and they were 10 of 10 for winter driving so I was interested in how these stacked up to them. They are almost as good as the Blizzaks rating 8 or 9 I had no trouble in light or heavy snow. I drove in 16 inches of heavy unplowed snow on my way to work and while I was going slower than normal I made the 30 mile trip to work without incident and never felt nervous about the traction these tires afforded me. In normal rain these are great tires but in heavy downpours with standing water on the road they have started to plane but slowing down to allow the water to be pumped off to the side through the tread they regain traction. these tires work well for all seasons combining the best of both types of tire tread and composition. Tire life looks to be good also as they have way more than half of the tread left I believe I will get 60,000 miles easily. I will probably buy another set of these tires and my daughter has put a set on her car also and loves them.
