The Winterforce LT is Firestone's Light Truck/SUV Studdable Winter / Snow tire designed for the owners of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vans, SUVs and pickup trucks. Available in Load Range E (10-Ply Rated) sizes, Winterforce LT tires are for drivers looking for traditional wintertime traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads.

Firestone Winterforce LT winter / snow radials feature a winter tread compound molded into an aggressive directional tread pattern with tread blocks that are siped and can be studded to offer the biting edges necessary to provide traction in snow and on ice. Independent tread blocks feature high-density siping to enhance grip in loose snow while the intermediate and shoulder tread blocks are molded to accept studs that further enhance traction on hard-packed snow and ice. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts on top of a polyester casing to combine strength with ride quality.

Winterforce LT winter / snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Install Winterforce LT tires in sets of four only.

Pinned to accept optional TSMI #15 blue-colored metallic winter studs.

...In heavy rain they will stop on a dime. They actually saved me from an accident during a downpour.

This tire does very well rain & snow. but seems somewhat wobbly in the warmer weather conditions. In heavy rain they will stop on a dime. They actually saved me from an accident during a downpour. I'm not sure how they will last I only have about 5000 mi on them. I live near Reno NV it is wet & snow conditions now so I'm not sure how they will do when the weather warms up.

...I live 1.5 miles from pavement and encountered everything from wet heavy snow to wind blown ice covered roads. They always had traction and even when being stupid with the throttle, did they seldom break traction...

My truck is a 2wd extended cab dually with a 8.5ft x 9ft steel flatbed. Original size is 215/85r16, but I run these as a single tire, that's why I am able to clear the 245/75r16. These tires are wonderful and were able to push the truck through everything we encountered this past winter in the Midwest. I live 1.5 miles from pavement and encountered everything from wet heavy snow to wind blown ice covered roads. They always had traction and even when being stupid with the throttle, did they seldom break traction. They even did an excellent job of digging a pair of trenches in the yard once the ground thawed and I had to pull around a trailer in the driveway. I would definitely recommend these tires for anybody needing a dedicated winter tire.

...Hydroplaning resistance is excellent, and these tires cut through deep snow effortlessly...

Having grown up in Northern New York, I'm a firm advocate of snow tires on any vehicle. Rather than the false sense of security 4wd/AWD seems to give some folks, a set of four snows really improves the competency of the vehicle in every situation, including sub-freezing, dry conditions. I picked up a set of the Firestone Winterforce LTs (unstudded) for my '98 4runner (4X4) in 235/85r16 size. These are a little skinnier and taller than stock, and are really popular amongst the overland crowd, and fit the truck with no rubs. I love them. Despite being E-rated, they actually are a little lighter than the D-rated M/Ts I have for summer use. The roads in the upper midwest are notoriously crappy in the winter, so having the 10-ply sidewalls gives me a little more peace of mind. Because of the stiff sidewalls, the tires definitely accentuated the washboard ride of the 4runner, but not unbearably so, and they felt pretty stable around corners. Hydroplaning resistance is excellent, and these tires cut through deep snow effortlessly. The tread blocks are extra beefy and do really well off-roading on logging trails. They seem to be wearing like iron and show little-to-no wear at 10k. They may not be as sophisticated but these tires are workhorses designed to get commercial trucks through any conditions, and as a no-nonsense snow tire they've been very satisfying.

These tires are great. Excellent snow and ice traction, I don't even notice that I don't have 4-wheel drive. Makes stopping and cornering feel safe. The ride and noise is better then the Goodyear ArmorTrac's that they replaced. Wear seems to be appropriate. The price is excellent, can't get a better buy.

Absoulutely awesome winter tire. We just had one heck of an ice storm and the truck had less trouble than I did walking in my tennis shoes. Not quite as good as the Blizzak in snow, but blew the Yoko all terains we had before out of the water. The tread is a little sqirmier on dry (it is a snow/ice tire), but unless you push it you can't feel it. Very low noise, almost no difference in gas milage, and smoother in ride. As we just have this one season on them, I don't know about wear.

Second vehicle I have used the Winterforce. Excellent in snow and more than reasonable on dry. Due to size, my responsiveness is somewhat lower.
Acceptable for use as year-round tire. Performs just as well in muddy or varied terrain. Will purchase again.

I will say that there is a section of highway in town that is grooved and the tires do like to follow the wavy grooves when it's dry, that is the only real demerit I can say about them...

I was looking to buy the General Grabber winter tires like I had on previous F-150 but they were out at the time, so I decided to give these a try. I have yet to have to put the truck in 4X4 this winter, these tires just claw their way through whatever is on the road. Snow, Slush, Ice doesn't seem to matter. I have actually flicked the truck around or stepped on it a few times on purpose just to test them and it just goes where I point it. I will say that there is a section of highway in town that is grooved and the tires do like to follow the wavy grooves when it's dry, that is the only real demerit I can say about them. They are an E rated tire, which is more than necessary for an F-150. I have them set at 50psi. After 4000 miles I have only lost 1/32nd of tire tread, as they start at 18/32 they should last a few good winters.

...The only redeeming qualities I can find is they... corner much better in dry conditions.

Going back to Blizzaks. Even when brand new with Tire Rack installed studs, these have never inspired confidence in snow or icy conditions. Trying to stop in snow is extremely tricky with these and the anti-lock activates much quicker than on any tire I've ever had on it. Slush on the edge of the roads is especially troublesome with these compared to my previous Blizzaks. The truck just feels much more squirrelly with these on it no matter whether I'm running the pressures normal (40psi for my truck) or lower (30 - 35psi). In conditions I used to be able to drive through with confidence, these have me white-knuckling at much lower speeds.

The only redeeming qualities I can find is they seem to be wearing much better than the Blizzaks and they corner much better in dry conditions.

...comfy, quiet...

I cannot ask for anything more from an LT rated winter tire. Long lasting, comfy, quiet, good traction in poor weather.
It's easy to endlessly shop winter tire options but you can stop now, L T winter force are so nice that I'll be looking at Firestone LT non winter tires for the first time ever. I always purchase a french brand but will now be looking at another Firestone model for summer use.
There is some good engineering going on here.
Thanks. Bob

this tire was an excellent (sleeper) buy the tread wear has been just great i purchased a set of 4 and was doing great until some sierra club nut job buried a spike strip on an access road to a public hunting area both front tires were ruined i replaced them with a set of dunlops that have approx 10000 miles and are nearly worn out, they work great in the high country snow and work great in the dessert sand/rock of arizona, getting ready to replace all 4 again would rate these tires as great all around general purpose 4x4 lt tires 2 thumbs up

...They far exceeded my expectations in every way, including tread wear. I put 15,000 miles on them and they still looked good...

I love these tires! I bought them for the winter and never took them off again. The snow traction is nothing short of amazing. The second year I had them I went through almost the whole winter with my 4 wheel drive broken and never had a problem, even living on a very steep hill. I personally LOVED the road noise. If you mind noisy tires I would not recommend them, but for me they were awesome. They far exceeded my expectations in every way, including tread wear. I put at least 15,000 miles on them and they still looked good. I cannot praise them enough for the snow though! I have never in my life had such confidence that I would make it home!
