General Grabber Arctic 

I bought my 2005 Tahoe used in 2016 and installed the General Arctic tires shortly after getting it. I got them from Tire Rack, and they are not studded. My primary use is as a tow vehicle for a 2 horse trailer and inboard ski boat. Both trailers loaded weigh about 6,000 lbs. Otherwise this is a 2nd vehicle and it is our primary winter vehicle. Yearly mileage is about 5 to 6K. I've now got 28K on the tires. The truck's tire sticker calls for 32 psi, but I usually run them at 35 psi. At this point the tread is worn to 4-5/32, but the tire is still very safe to drive. It is late March now and I will likely replace them next fall before the major winter storms start. I am happy with that treadlife as I run the tires year round. I was looking for a winter tire but knew they would be used all year. So, I wanted a good tread design for winter, enough rubber surface for treadwear, good sipping for wet water dispersal, and I was willing to sacrifice some dry road traction.

Driving on dry roads in the summer is not an issue for me. The tire turns responsively, and has good traction on start up and any breakaway in corners is manageable. This is a top heavy vehicle and I generally don't push it all that hard in tight corners. Wet traction is excellent, and no issues with hydroplaning to this point. Tire noise is low and hasn't increased as the tires have worn. My truck has tire monitors which can be a pain when you have leaky tires. In all these years I've never had to repair a flat these Generals. I've had to several flat repairs on my other cars. The pressure monitors always show the pressures are fine. I've really enjoyed how well these tire resist puncture and hold air. I've never had to rebalance any tire either. They are the most trouble free tires I've ever had.

Bought these with a set of discounted wheels as our snow tire set. The OEMs on this truck are lousy in the snow. These tires perform very well in the snow and wet. Fairly quiet and nice ride quality. I would highly recommend.

I have only experienced these tires for one winter and it has been a very mild winter at that. We did finally get something that resembles snow and these tires have behaved admirably. In the snow, I have been mostly in 2wd as these tires have provided more than enough traction to get me going. However, in several instances I have had to engage the 4H or 4L. Regardless, these tires take a little bit of coaxing to grip initially. However, after some initial wheel spin, these tires hook as if they were on dry pavement. I do not have them studded, we don't get enough ice and snow consistently to warrant their use. And the roads here are bad enough as it is. It is worth mentioning that these tires do not like to do two things at once. They will either go forward, stop you, or turn. They do not do two at once very well.

When the terrain gets muddy and snowy, these tires do an incredible job of finding and creating traction. I have been pleasantly surprised with their ability to handle muddy, slushy and snowy terrain, even off road. RIde comfort on dry pavement is acceptable. They are very smooth and they do make a discernible sound. It is not intrusive but it can be clearly heard. I would probably buy these tires again, especially for the price.

Not a lot of miles on these yet, but so far, they are doing a great job in the winter weather in the Northeast. Studding does help the ice traction of course.

I bought two of these tires for the rear of my 2WD Silverado. I chose the studded option, this may add to the road noise. These tires grip the ice and snow unbelievably great.

My Tahoe has 17" wheels and I'm hoping to run these winter tires year round. I use the Tahoe more in the winter for snow driving, and in the summer mainly to pull a boat and horse trailers a few times each summer. What I wanted most was a smooth riding and quiet tire, with an aggressive tread design for winter snow and ice. This is an early review, but the tires are quiet when new. Hopefully as they wear they will stay quiet. The ride is smooth, and the SUV is responsive to steering input. I don't push this vehicle in corners, but I get a feeling of confidence when cornering with these tires so far.

I was shopping for Michelin X-Ice tires for this truck, but they were back ordered into mid December. These Grabber winter tires are a great price and I decided to give them a try. Pleased with the decision at this point.

Great tire. Quiet, smooth ride. I work in construction and travel dirty and muddy roads onsite and the Grabbers do just that. With 2 wheel drive and posi rear end I go anywhere the other guys in 4 wheel drive pickups go. Much quieter on pavement than the Firestone Winterforce tires on my other truck. Recommended

Just got them and they rode smoother than the old snow tires plus quieter too

I bought these tires in an off size for my S10 truck and had the speedo reset to match. I buy tires based on best performance not on some fixed preconception base on vehicle model. But I find it hard to look up tires this way because of the stringent way the tirerack website is set up. That does ----. I wish they would allow looking up a tire model and showing the sizes that the model offers, allowing me to select the tire I want rather than tirerack denying me that ability. But unfortunately the site is not set up like that. However, the General Altimax Artic tires are great. I go through deep snow with no problem. I am able to gain speed faster and stop quicker with two wheel drive with these tires than I can with a 4wd Blazer running new all seasons in snow and ice. And the tread life has been very good. I run the tires all year round and the tread wear markers are still showing life left. That's about 5yrs and 45000 miles. Real nice. But now I want to get a new set and the Artics are not available in the size I had bought, nor in the original size for the truck. Would like to see what is available in other sizes but that is not happening here. Might have to look else where besides tirerack.

This is going on the third winter season with these Generals,I paid $96.00 each for these in 2017 ,I've used Continentals and Michelins on my vehicles over the years, I can honestly say for the money I paid for these they were money well spent. Were I live in Northern Ontario we get all wether conditions here,Ice, heavy snow,slush ,cold dry conditions and these tires have not let me down,yet .Ive put about 25K on them and still lots of tread left probably two more winters before they are replaced
