The Wrangler Duratrac RT is Goodyear's Rugged All-Terrain tire, built for the drivers of pickups, work vehicles, SUVs and trucks requiring a tire with the rugged durability needed to get the job done, all day, every day. Engineered to easily traverse the urban jungle, dirt, gravel, and unimproved jobsites, the Wrangler Duratrac RT combines on-road transportation with off-road prowess and traction year-round, including light snow performance meeting the tire industry's severe snow service rating requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT

The Wrangler Duratrac RT features a next-generation tread design comprised of a rugged compound formulated for durability, built to resist deformation, chunking or tearing during off-road or heavy duty applications. Its wide-grooved symmetric tread pattern combines large shoulders and highly angled center tread blocks to enhance stability and traction in dry and wet conditions. An optimized pressure footprint encourages predictable highway driving and even wear for longer service life. The alternating lug patterns in the shoulder and sidewall provide additional grip on all surfaces, including rock, thick mud, or loose soil. Deep, circumferential grooves and wide, lateral notches improve hydroplaning resistance. The zigzag sipes interspersed through each tread block ensure the biting edges needed for traction in cold, slippery conditions are always ready.

The internal construction of the Wrangler Duratrac RT features three-ply polyester cord sidewalls encircled by twin steel belts for off-road durability and on-road drivability. All capped off with a 2-ply polyamide casing reinforced by Kevlar™. The Durawall sidewall compound features a triple-ply design for added rigidity and protection against deformation, cuts and punctures.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

These tires are excellent! Best snow and ice grip without being dedicated snow tires. They are also very good in the rain. I've never had a truck tire track so well and provide such controlled stopping power. I highly recommend them!

...They do not slide around on wet roads even under hard power.

Price was hard to beat. We have a set on some of our emergency vehicles and they are holding up really well with no weird noise or wear patterns. They do not slide around on wet roads even under hard power.

...The flip side is that have excellent dirt, wet and snow traction...

This is my 3rd set of Duratracs and I'd likely buy them again. They are pretty perfect for my needs, but not without flaws. However, those flaws are just tradeoffs. For example, the tires are on the noisy side and I definitely wish they wore a bit better. We do plenty of road trips in the truck and there are definitely more highway-friendly tires out there, but they are manageable. The flip side is that have excellent dirt, wet and snow traction. I live in Utah and we have full winters. My neighborhood and driveway are both very hilly and our roads are always the last to get plowed. I spend a lot of time snowboarding in the mountains. The big positive is that I'm never worried about getting where I need to be with these tires.

My previous sets have seemed to have a pretty steep drop off in grip once they are 3/4 of the way through their life though. We'll see how the new RTs pan out. Like I said, given knowing where the tires are strong and where they are not, I'd still very likely buy them again as I am happy to make the tradeoff of road manners, life span, and noise in order to get excellent grip and confidence in dirt, wet and snowy conditions.

It’s been just over a year since I put these tires on my vehicle, and after about 18,000 miles—including a couple of good snowfalls this past month—I’m very pleased with their performance. They still provide good bite in light snow and perform even better in deeper snow. On icy back roads they can feel noticeably slippery, which is understandable given the packed snow, ice, and freezing rain. That said, I have complete confidence when driving through deeper snow.

They’ve also done well keeping me safe on the highway during snowstorms while traveling back and forth between Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, where Lake Effect snow is common. I would like a bit more traction in wet conditions, especially since I tend to drive my truck spiritedly. Off-road traction has been excellent as well—handling light dirt, mud, and some sand around the property without issue. Overall, I would buy another set, as the tread wear has been surprisingly better than I expected. This rugged all-terrain tire also features an aggressive tread pattern and bold shoulder blocks that definitely catch the eye.

...In fact the day I got them there was snow and ice on the ground and they were excellent in both. Now, at 17K miles, they are as quiet as they were new, they show little sign of wear, and they have been through two summers and two winters of snow and ice...

Bought these to replace the factory Goodyear Wrangler Territory MTs on my Silverado ZR2, which at 33,000 miles were so loud I couldn’t use the hands free phone. The new DuraTrac RT is a much better tire than the original DuraTrac and 1000 times better than the OEM Territory. I noticed an immediate relief in the noise and much better handling. In fact the day I got them there was snow and ice on the ground and they were excellent in both. Now, at 17K miles, they are as quiet as they were new, they show little sign of wear, and they have been through two summers and two winters of snow and ice. These are the best AT tires that I have used.

...they have awesome grip on dry pavement, dirt and winter time roads with packed snow, ice patches, deep snow, etc...

This updated Duratrac has been an outstanding tire for general use here in Idaho. It sees time in town, on the highway, on the freeway, and on gravel roads in the sun, rain and snow. They have been very quiet considering how aggressive the tread pattern is, I did have them siped and that combined with the tread pattern, they have awesome grip on dry pavement, dirt and winter time roads with packed snow, ice patches, deep snow, etc. I'm having a hard time finding any fault in this tire. It's like you don't notice these tires until you need them, and then they remind you of how good the tread pattern is. There is a slight hum at about 35mph, and that's it, they also balanced very well. This tire is as close to the unicorn set of tires that I have found, will very likely be purchasing a second set next year.

I love how solid they feel, and they are very quiet and responsive... They preformed perfectly in all conditions...

I initially bought the tires because I liked the look of them, and the reviews seemed mostly positive. They have exceeded my expectations.
First off they look even cooler than I had imagined on my 2011 Frontier pickup truck. I bought them on line, and Tire Rack shipped them to my local Discount Tire store, who did a phenomenal job installing the tires and aligning my truck. I love how solid they feel, and they are very quiet and responsive. I've driven them in all kinds of conditions, including rain, snow, ice, icy slush, dry pavement, gravel, and off road. They preformed perfectly in all conditions. The only caviot, was once when I was on the highway in heavy rain I went through a pool of standing water, and it did hydroplane. However I think any vehicle going that speed through that amount of water would hydroplaned regardless of the tires.
My final thoughts are, my Goodyear Wrangler Durotec tires are the nicest tires I've ever owned. I would definitely recommend them.

This is my 2nd set of these tires. I got 60,000 miles on the 1st set. They ride very comfortable with great traction. I don't mud ride but do ride on dirt roads after days of rain also muddy soft grass and clover. Great traction with no getting stuck where other people do.

...Goodyear created a durable tire that is quiet and smooth... I didn't notice any increased road noise or steering changes...

So far I am very impressed after the first rotation. Goodyear created a durable tire that is quiet and smooth. I had the stock at’s on for about 50 miles Direct comparisons are tough but I didn’t notice any increased road noise or steering changes. So far very impressed tires still read 18/32 after 5500 miles.

Haven’t had snow or mud, but rain and dry no complaints for as aggressive as these are.

...They still ride great, not much road noise compared to the Original Equipment tires...

Now that I have driven them through the winter/snow, this is my 2nd review on these tires. So far I really like them. They still ride great, not much road noise compared to the Original Equipment tires. They handled great in the deep snow traction. We tend to get some good snowfall in this area and they definitely came in handy. They had some good bite in the light snow and the deep snow. A little slippery on ice, but expected. I wish it had a little more traction in the wet. These seem to have some really good wear as well. Overall, these tires are great and I would buy them again. The more agressive tread pattern and shoulder blocks are another feature that I really appreciate too.

...The previous sets lasted about 80-90K miles each...

I have had 2 sets of Wrangler Duratrac tires prior to this updated Duratrac RT version and so far I believe these are better than the original Duratracs. The previous sets lasted about 80-90K miles each. Winter is just beginning and so far the RT's are doing great in the snow. They have worked well on a few trails and dirt roads as well as on pavement. My only negative comment is that they have a slight wobble at highway speeds, however, this is likely a balancing issue and not the tires.
