The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is Continental's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for drivers of sports cars, sports coupes, performance sedans, SUVs and CUVs. Designed to improve upon key metrics compared to its predecessor, like braking in dry and wet, along with increased traction in snow and ice, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built to deliver skillful handling and high-speed capability with increased confidence for inclement weather, even in light snow.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus Callouts

Featuring an updated, performance-tuned all-season tread compound molded into an updated asymmetric tread design and utilizing SPORTPLUS+ Technology, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built for enhanced handling and braking performance. Macro-Blocks and Chamfered block edges help improve ultimate dry road traction and provide increased cornering responsiveness. Generous high angle and circumferential grooves help evacuate water from the contact patch for increased hydroplaning resistance. 3D sipes help retain handling precision while increasing the number of biting edges for improved wet traction, while X-Sipes are utilized to improve lateral and longitudinal grip in inclement weather. Traction grooves within the circumferential channels further enhance winter weather traction by improving snow-to-snow traction.

ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS tires feature an Alignment Verification System to help identify vehicle misalignment concerns early in the tire's life before wear patterns form. The system also confirms suitability for different driving conditions through Tuned Performance Indicators. Tuned Performance Indicators are visible letters molded into the second rib from the outboard shoulder to alert drivers of the tire's performance levels. A visible "DWS" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions, as well as wet roads and snow. After the "S" has worn away, the remaining "DW" indicates the tire only has appropriate tread depth for dry and most wet road conditions. After the "W" and "S" have both worn away, the remaining "D" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions only.

The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS incorporates a high strength, 2 ply sidewall construction for improved resistance to damage, along with a Sport Sidewall Insert for increased handling responsiveness. Continental's new high-strength, triple action, hybrid cap ply helps combine the positive attributes of a stiffer cord material for improved handling characteristics, while simultaneously retaining the benefits of a more flexible cord, helping maintain a smooth and quiet ride with an optimized contact patch for even wear and longer tread life.

Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT Reviews

Customer surveys indicate the Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT delivers excellent dry traction (scores 8-10) and strong wet performance with reliable hydroplaning resistance, fitting its all-terrain purpose. Winter capabilities show robust deep snow traction, though some note reduced confidence on ice. Riders praise the comfortable, quiet experience for an off-road tire, with noise levels often scoring 8-10. Treadwear ratings (8-10) highlight durable construction suited for rugged use. While most categories perform well within intended off-road conditions, a few lower winter scores suggest varying experiences in extreme ice scenarios.

...Rain and wet driving provides the same comfort as dry driving and I have only had one instance of extreme hydroplaning. The rain was out of control on that day and the freeway had plugged drainage system. There was numerous places with over 3 inch deep puddles that immediately sent the pickup off course. 60mph into a small lake will do that to any tire. Otherwise, the tires have no problem traversing standard amounts of water on the road...

These tires caught my attention because of the more moderate All-Terrain tread pattern vs. the more aggressive Duratrac and more highway orientated All-Terrain Adventure w/Kevlar. I have had both and experienced different traits with both. Duratrac wears horribly uneven on the lugs unless you rotate them every 2500 miles. All-Terrain Adventure w/Kevlar was a great all around seasonal tire, with a tread pattern more designed for highway only driving - in my opinion.

The Workhorse AT delivers a tread pattern similar or almost Identical to the discontinued Trailrunner AT. It has proven to be a great choice for my location and the adverse weather we encounter. it can be over 100 F in the summer and a has been to -30 F in the winter. I drive on snow every winter, I have 2 mountain passes I have to drive through on occasion. Having the peace of mind of a high quality tire is always appreciated.

Summer driving is mostly highway and unimproved gravel / chip seal / compact dirt roads. These tires excel in all aspects.

Winter and snow driving is great. We get mixed results with how our highway is plowed, scraped, graveled or de-iced. As any tire on direct ice, these will travel a bit, but on compact snow, deep snow, graveled highway etc. Theses tires pass my scrutiny well.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase, and will definitely consider this tire again in the future. Granted, I have only gone 6000 miles with this vehicle in one year, which is half the national average, I expect them to continue to serve my needs well.

...Traction on pavement is superb, dry, wet, and flooded. They really bite into the road and propel you forward...

So i bought these soon after they came out, in the LT size, because while i wanted an LT tire, there were previously only 2 other AT tires in an LT size available that would fit my stock renegade, and i wasn't interested in either.

These are 4lbs lighter than the equivalent sized KO2, with a 1/16" deeper tread. And a little less open pattern, which i hoped would result in better wet pavement handling.

Over only driven on these a few weeks now. Traction on pavement is superb, dry, wet, and flooded. They really bite into the road and propel you forward. Cornering and responsiveness is a little stiff, though I'm still working out the best PSI since my little jeep is far lighter than these tires were meant for. Overall ride is comfortable. Very little noise, easy to tune it out

Off road, they do very well. I've put over 100 miles on them in Florida's forests and swamps. Aired down they excel in the multiple types of sand I've driven in. I tried to get them to spin out and couldn't. Great in the dirt too, over rocks and logs. They cling and climb well. Did well in the mud, though in packed wet sandy mud they don't excel at self cleaning, i had to spin them a bit to get them clear and digging again. And aired down, the ride is quite comfortable over rough terrain and gritty, rocky roads.

I can't comment on performance in snow or ice. I expect they'd do quite well. Overall I'm quite happy with them. If i can, I'll update this as time goes on, how they wear, etc.

...Took them out in a fresh 13" snow and experienced no slipping or sliding...wasn't doing anything crazy just normal driving.

I normally go with General Grabbers but do to availability issues I went with the Wrangler Workhorse ATs. Been thru one winter and have about 15K on them. So far they have met all my expectations and I would purchase again. I live in the mountains and I drive on dirt/gravel/rocky forest roads daily. I normally ran them slightly under inflated and I experienced no issues. Took them out in a fresh 13" snow and experienced no slipping or sliding....wasn't doing anything crazy just normal driving.

These tires were mounted the Friday before the blizzard that hit us starting late Saturday night through to early Monday morning. Had about one and a half feet of snow over an 1/8 inch layer of ice (freezing rain hit us first). Drove into work that Monday morning and the tires performed exceptionally well too and from, over a couple hills and at intersections (stopping and starting). Very happy with this composition of tires, will absolutely buy again when these are worn out. Should note that I was running them about -3 PSI in the snow and ice.

I cannot believe how quiet and comfortable these tires are. Like driving on grand touring tires, but they are light truck tires. Because I live in a state that you literally can go from rain snow and any other weather conditions all in one day. I really got to try these out in the rain on the coast, mountain pass snow and dry roads. They did great. Glad to have great tires.
