Most customers report strong dry traction with scores of 8-10, highlighting confident grip and responsive handling. While a few ratings suggest room for improvement, the Optimo H426 delivers reliable performance expected from a grand touring all-season tire.

Don't understand the negative reviews. These tires are great on dry pavement and have handled all the bumps and potholes. Had no problems after an ice storm hit and they have performed well in wet weather. Handling is excellent as well. Haven't been able to test them in the snow yet.

I have had no spinning or loss of traction even in the wet and with this much horsepower on tap, it does make one look askance at that...
I am confused by such bad reviews that I have read here concerning this tire on Ford Explorers. My Explorer is the Sport version which has 365 hp and this tire has performed well. The ride has been smooth but perhaps this is because the Exporer Sport has a much firmer suspension and also has additional stabilizer bars. My previous vehicle was a BMW 535 and i always ran Michelin Pilot Sports on it. I got anywhere from 6 to 10,000 on them. They rode much rougher and harshly than these Hankook tires do. I was expecting these tires to ride and perform poorly but have been totally suprised and quite happy to find them doing much much better than this. I have had no spinning or loss of traction even in the wet and with this much horsepower on tap, it does make one look askance at that. I would never have bought these tires if I had been in the market for a replacement set, but having them thrust upon me, my mind has been changed. I will soon have had this explorer for a year and will have around 14,000 miles then and the tires look almost like brand new. Total unexpected and pleasent surprise.

Many customers report mediocre wet traction with scores between 0-5, noting a tendency to hydroplane and slide on wet roads. While some rate it 7-10, dissatisfaction with unpredictable grip is common.

Stock tires from Hyundai. Terrible under wet road conditions, with guaranteed wheel spin every time when starting from a stop (even under low-moderate acceleration). Yesterday I experienced a bit of hydroplaning making a left turn at an intersection travelling at no more than 25 mph. Considering selling the tires to pick up something better and safer.

As with many reviews here, I am disappointed with the lack of wet traction and the seemingly rapid tread wear. I have been able to survive Northeast winters with these tires largely due to my 5-speed manual that allows me to better control wheel spin and engine braking. I was initially excited at having Hankook tires as OEM but that enthusiasm has quickly vanished. At around 30,000 miles, the sipes and transverse pattern were nearly gone leaving only the longitudinal grooves. The tires' appearance reminds me of tractor-trailer retreads. I cannot wait to purchase proper all-season tires as I have no confidence in winter driving on these tires. Looks like I will be putting more miles on my Jeep Wrangler for the remainder of this winter season.

Winter traction ratings are concerning, with most scores between 0-4. Customers report slippery in snow, loss of traction, and getting stuck. Even as an all-season tire, performance is unacceptable for winter conditions.

These tires came Standard on my car. Just drove the car in the first heavy snow and these tires are THE WORST tire in the snow period. Snow traction is almost non-existant and forget Ice traction all together. Hankook was a new name to me and I certainly will not buy them. I will promptly change these tires out as the car is too unsafe to drive in bad weather.

...Less than a week after I bought the car I tried to drive to work in what could only be described as a minuscule dusting of snow; I'm talking light enough that the color of the road and lane stripes could be easily determined. You can imagine my shock when I tried to stop from 10 mph on a flat surface and found myself sliding, completely out of control into a T-intersection into the path of cars on a road with a 45 MPH speed limit. Only by the grace of a small dry patch was I able to stop only a few feet shy of the road and avoid totaling a car which had less than 500 miles on it...
These tires came as standard on my 2012 Hyundai Elantra's 17" alloy wheels and at first they seemed alright; quiet enough, decent dry traction and somewhat fun in the corners. Less than a week after I bought the car I tried to drive to work in what could only be described as a minuscule dusting of snow; I'm talking light enough that the color of the road and lane stripes could be easily determined. You can imagine my shock when I tried to stop from 10 mph on a flat surface and found myself sliding, completely out of control into a T-intersection into the path of cars on a road with a 45 MPH speed limit. Only by the grace of a small dry patch was I able to stop only a few feet shy of the road and avoid totaling a car which had less than 500 miles on it. I managed to back up the street, return the car to the garage and never took it out in the snow again with these tires.
If poor snow traction was their only shortcoming, their sins might be forgiven but sadly, it wasn't. As these tires wore they grew criminally loud, wet weather traction started to degrade rapidly after 10,000 miles and by 15,000, it was gone completely. They still managed to be decently sporty in the corners but it came at a cost; an absolutely bone-jarring ride. At 19,000 miles I finally tossed them in favor of some Michelins which completely transformed the car.

...The tire had poor dry pavement traction, and absolutely no traction in light snow...
I concur with previous negative reviews of this tire. The Hankook H426 is the first tire that actually scared me. The tire had poor dry pavement traction, and absolutely no traction in light snow. The tire was OEM on my Forte', and infact was balanced perfectly.
I feel the OEM Hankook 426 should not even be on the market.
I gave these tires away with only 4,000 miles on them. I replaced them with General Altimax HP.

Many comfort scores fall between 0-6, with complaints of harsh ride, unbearable noise, and bumpy feel. Dissatisfied users cite low comfort and poor ride quality, disappointing for a Grand Touring tire.

These are the tires that came from the factory. The traction grooves cut in the tires disappeared around 15000 miles, leaving a few deep grooves with smooth flat surface, thus anything wet, let alone snow, is pointless to attempt to drive in. I am currently searching for a different tire. One that delivers comfort, longevity, and most importantly, grip. For the price of these tires, I would keep searching.

Treadwear ratings reveal widespread disappointment, with many scoring 0-6 citing rapid wear and early replacement. While some 9s and 10s exist, frequent complaints of poor tread life dominate.

...However, the treadwear on these tires is also awful. They only have about 20,000 miles on them and I doubt I'll get more than another 5,000 miles out of them before they will need to be replaced. I would think tires that are rotated regularly, on a car with no alignment issues, and not driven aggressively should last longer than this.
These tires are dreadful in any snow over 1". The car slides all over the road and is unsafe. I had to buy a set of snow tires for winter driving. The tires are adequate for dry and wet traction. These were the OEM tires on my Ford Fiesta hatchback. I made it to 19,000 miles and am already needing new tires because they almost have no tread at all. I do have a spirited driving style so I didn't expect to make it to 60,000 but 19,000 miles seems a little ridiculous. My car is not powerful enough to go driving around like Ken Block so there is no reason that these should have worn out that quickly. I was expecting to make it to at least 40,000 miles but I'm on my way to get new tires now and they definitely won't be these ones
