The Ventus V4 ES (H105) is Hankook's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans. The Ventus V4 ES is designed to combine cutting-edge appearance with predictable handling, traction and control on dry and wet roads, as well as in occasional light snow.

The Ventus V4 ES molds an ultra high performance all-season tread compound into a directional design featuring a continuous center rib flanked by stable independent intermediate and shoulder tread blocks to enhance dry traction. Wide circumferential main grooves and multiple lateral side slots create waterways that aid water drainage to minimize hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. Sipes in each tread block increase the number of biting edges to reinforce winter traction without abandoning wet and dry handling.

Hankook's Controlled Footprint Shape profile uses the tire's internal structure of twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to promote predictable handling and uniform wear.

Hankook Reviews

Customer surveys indicate the Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 excels in dry traction (8-10 scores dominate) with responsive steering and stable cornering, delivering confident performance for all-season driving. Wet traction earns praise (7-10 range common) for reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance, though a few reports note reduced effectiveness in heavy rain. Winter traction shows mixed results-snow handling earns 7-8 scores from some drivers, but ice and deep snow performance (frequent 0-3 scores) raise concerns for severe conditions. Ride comfort receives strong marks (8-10 typical) for smoothness and noise reduction. Treadwear ratings (7-10 majority) suggest solid durability for an ultra-high-performance all-season tire.

...Very, very good in rain, and on cold dry or slightly wet roads.

I first review this car when first put on car, now 30,000 miles later. I still like them. If you know its faults (snow and ice traction) it is a great affordable performance tire. I use snow tires. I have along highway commute and these tires work great. They are long lasting with a decent amount of traction. Very, very good in rain, and on cold dry or slightly wet roads.

bought these as summer tires as the OEM goodyear eagle ls2's were terrible and necessitated a set of snows. very good grip on these, they make my malibu actually feel sporty. the old eagles would just squeal away all the power, and only spin from a stop in wet, and i've had none of that with these. and that's saying a lot with a front wheel drive car with 250 horsepower, especially the malibu where the drive-by-wire is hard to modulate and is sometimes a little too responsive for easy starts.

I have more confidence at high speeds in rain & dry weather...cornering is something out of a race track...

I originally had Goodyear RSA's OEM....Horrible tire...terrible in the rain terrible in the snow & very unstable!...When I switched to the Hankooks...I immediately saw a HUGE difference....my car feels brand new & handles like a champ..I have more confidence at high speeds in rain & dry weather...cornering is something out of a race track & when I go over bumps on highway the car handles like a champ. With the good years I had ZERO confidence on the road!....Definitely a great purchase...I havent driven in snow conditions as yet but based on how the hankooks handle in the rain im sure they will do just fine in light snow...I dont expect much from a low profile tire in the snow anyway...just plain physics. All in all a great tire for the price its actually a steel....I strongly recommed this tire.

...It grip to corner very well on dry day. Turning 270 degree highway exit corner at 65 km/h (40 mph) without problem...

These 225/45R17 and 245/40R17 comes with my 2001 BMW 330Ci coupe. I typically use summer tire but these all season comes with my car and it is 80% new. It grip to corner very well on dry day. Turning 270 degree highway exit corner at 65 km/h (40 mph) without problem.

Fuel economy is above average, but I only have the car for 1 yr, so can't really compare with other summer tire, but it is 12% better mpg (21 mpg vs 18 mpg) than winter RFT with 225/45R17 + 235/45R17. Road noise is much quiet than winter tire, and again I can't compare with other tire mounted on this car, since the noise insulation is better.

I don't like run-flat tire, and this is not run-flat tire, so the weight is less.

The tire is dated 2010, so it has been mounted for 5 years. It never spin even on hard acceleration on 3L engine.

I drive gentle most of the time, except cornering very aggressively, and this tire is capable of taking the same hard corner at high speed (60 - 80 km/h or 35 - 50 mph) like high performance sport tire in my Honda Prelude (which is lighter and lower center gravity), so I will buy another one if there is good offer.

I repair my own car, so my review is base on 0 suspension issue. Any reader who suspect potential suspension issue can have a peace of mind when reading my review.

It never slide, under steer, and rubber seems to last long (5 yr), and could easily last 10 yr for my driving habit (yearly driving 20k km or 12k miles).

I have driven in light snow condition for 2 months. It does able to grip the road and perform similar to other all season tire, so no complain. This means the snow has been shoved, or snow partially melted (salt or temperature), not with 2" or 6 cm of snow covering the entire road.

Never drive it in heavy snow (3" or 10 cm), ice, so I can't comment

Replacement set of tires for Conti DWS (same size). The Hankook tire ride comfort and steering response considerably better than the Conti's. Rest of the rated parameters are about the same. Haven't experienced snow with the Hankook's yet. Tires balanced well first try. Very satisfied with the purchase so far.

These tires are soft and the ride is quite and luxurious. And at the same time, if I push the car to perform, they handle exceptionally well, even in heavy rain. Of course, in winter weather (ice and snow), I'm not sure any tire will help in my Lincoln LS. I was shocked that the tires wore as well as they did ... since I did not even rotate them (I wonder how much longer they would have lasted if I did). I am getting ready to replace the tires but am having trouble because they still ride great (at 4/32 tread depth). Previously, I had Goodyear Eagle GT tires that lasted about 23,000 miles (without rotating them) and they did not handle near as well, a little noisy, and stiff on the road. I am not a tire expert, but I have had a lot of different cars with the usual Goodyear, Firestone, Michelin, and Bridgestone brand tires. These are the best I have driven on (except for Continental Tires). I would give the Hankook Tires an overall rating of 8.6 and value of 9.6. I am looking at the Continental Extreme Contact DWS All Weather Ultra High Performance tires as a replacement (I just put a set on my wife's 2007 BMW 325i in December; by the way those tires made her car seem like a front wheel drive or 4-wheel drive car on ice and snow this winter), but I don't know if I want to spend the extra money for my Lincoln with almost 96,000 miles.

I've put over 45,000 miles on a set of these and they're just about nearing end of life. They are quiet for a sport tire and perform surprisingly well in dry/wet conditions. Also did a few snowboarding trips into the mountains (Bear, Mt High, Mammoth). Although they don't inspire much confidence driving over snow/ice covered roads, they did get me where I needed to go. If you do a lot of driving in snowy winter conditions, invest in some chains or consider a different tire. For the price point, I would consider these again.

After 30,000 miles I am still pleased with these tires. The all-around performance is very good. These are all-season tires, and as such they have to try and do all things well. They manage great in wet weather, very good on dry pavement and acceptable in the snow. They've worn very well, I think I have probably 15-20K miles left on them. I like to drive the Infiniti as it was meant to be driven from time-to-time, and these tires don't disappoint.

...During the winter, this tire is downright unsafe. Unless you are driving incredibly slowly and don't turn much, you'll be risking your life every time you leave the house. My Eclipse is FWD, and yet I can't start moving at stoplights...

These tires aren't anything special. I've had them for 6 months and put on 8,000 miles, and they really don't excel in any area. During the summer, they run very level and smooth, but you do feel plenty of bumps. The turning capabilities aren't anything to write home about... although I do turn quicker and easier that my friends that have fusion tires. They have started to get louder and louder the more they wear. They aren't too bad yet, but I've noticed the noise levels increasing and I feel that in another 4000 miles it might be unbearable.
During the winter, this tire is downright unsafe. Unless you are driving incredibly slowly and don't turn much, you'll be risking your life every time you leave the house. My Eclipse is FWD, and yet I can't start moving at stoplights. Just today while driving home, a Jeep in front of me slammed on the brakes for some reason, and I just tapped on them to start slowing down, and I just started going sideways. Only going about 35 mph on a plowed and sanded road and I just spun out. The snow will get into the tiny grooves in these tires and turn them into slicks. (Pun intended)

I honestly do not feel safe driving in the winter with these tires, and if you were intending to use them mostly as a summer tire, well chances are you'll probably be disappointed in that field aswell.

...Lastly, these tires have ok traction in the dry, but horrible traction on damp/wet/snowy roads.

Tires seemed good at first, they held together well for the first 5 months or so, then after that, all 4 started to fall apart. The sides of the tires started cracking apart which caused two of the tires to start leaking. Then they also started to bulge and deform near the rims too. It seems I wasted about $400 on these tires. I will certainly be trying a different tire company from now on. I DO NOT RECOMMEND these tires.
