...Quiet, comfortable and excellent handling in extreme wet conditions! I drove home through a major rain storm and the car was stable, steady and on track...
I was looking for an affordable set of tires for our Jetta. The Kumho was recommended by my mechanic and even though they were less than $300 a set I took a chance and ordered them. The results blew me away! Quiet, comfortable and excellent handling in extreme wet conditions! I drove home through a major rain storm and the car was stable, steady and on track. I highly recommend these tires whether you're on a tight budget or not. Don't hesitate to buy these!

...Best tires I ever owned nice quiet ride and great traction dry or wet.
Had sumitomo tires before these and they were wasted by 27000 miles. Had these for almost 60000 miles and they still have about 10 or 15 k left on them! Best tires I ever owned nice quiet ride and great traction dry or wet.

...The Kumhos feel like the car is glued to the road and handle far better than the Yokos in both dry and wet conditions. Acceleration, cornering and braking are all great...
Bought these Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires 9 months and 10,000 miles ago. These are GREAT tires. These are far better than the Yoko Avid V4S tires they replaced and the original Michelins. The Kumhos feel like the car is glued to the road and handle far better than the Yokos did in both dry and wet conditions. Acceleration, cornering and braking are all great. I've only had a little snow and ice driving experience so far, but they seem to be very good in those conditions too. I would definitely buy Kumho again and find them to be better price/performance choice than the Yokos and the Michelins. I ordered from Tire Rack and two days later they were on the car - great service. Why would anyone go with Goodyears or Bridgestones or whatever when these are so good?

Customers praise the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum's winter traction with many scoring 8s and 9s in snow performance. While ice traction shows slightly lower scores (7-8 range), it delivers reliable all-season capability. A few note reduced deep snow grip, but most find it confident in typical winter conditions.

...Dry traction is terrific for my spirited heavy foot...
This tire blew me away. AWESOME ride! I noticed the moment I drove from the installers how quiet they were. My rating does not reflect winter driving but I will update that when it gets here. Dry traction is terrific for my spirited heavy foot. Wet traction is great too, but with a 6.0...traction will always be an issue with any tire. I could not have been happier with this tire...until a few days ago. I got a steering wheel shake and figured the tires were out of balance. NO big deal it happens a lot with these 18 rims on these cars. The technician said he needed 10 oz of weight to balance the right front!!! That is waaaay too much. So I figured it must be out of round or there is really something wrong with it. Well to my amazement, I contacted Tire Rack that evening and the next day they had a new tire on the way. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! My next set of tires will come from them no question. I cannot compliment and thank Tire Rack enough for their awesome support and assistance. As for the tires...I LOVE them!

...When I had the tires installed in February, I was a little lukewarm about these tires, the tires did not like to corner at all, it felt like if I let go of the wheel while cornering the car would fling itself in the other direction. I've had these tires on for around 10,000 miles and am very happy overall. When I had the tires installed in February, I was a little lukewarm about these tires, the tires did not like to corner at all, it felt like if I let go of the wheel while cornering the car would fling itself in the other direction. That went away after a couple thousand miles, I'm not sure if it was the cold late winter weather or just the tires breaking in. With that said, these tires have been excellent overall. They are tremendous in wet weather, as expected with their deep channels. Their performance in dry weather has been just as good, I've pushed them very hard and they've never made me feel unsafe. I can't comment on their snow/ice traction since I use dedicated snows in the winter, but I would buy these tires again in a second and would recommend them to anyone.

...On dry roads these tires have been awesome, exactly what I was looking for...
I was looking for a tire that could perform at high speeds, cornering, and braking, while at the same time can provide a better mileage than strictly high performance tires. My first drive I was VERY impressed with how amazingly quiet these tires were, even at speeds above 100mph. On dry roads these tires have been awesome, exactly what I was looking for. My only problem that I have is this. These tires have the worst design for tread patterns when it comes to water, snow, or mix. My last set of tires were Fuzion brand and those tires had HUGE grooves that provided a path for water to escape from under the tire and out to keep the rubber firmly planted on tarmac. These KUMHO tires have multiple grooves that run the direction of the tread, but NONE of those grooves provide area for the water, slush, or snow to escape. Let me give you a few examples of what has been my personal experiences. I live in Idaho, our weather can change quickly. My first time on wet roads was a horrible experience. I was driving at 35 and wanted to see how they would handle a puddle of no deeper than 1" standing water. Instantly I hydroplaned and about went into the curb. I have NEVER had a new tire perform at that poor. Just this weekend, 11-11-11, we got our first snow storm. I love to drive in the snow, regardless of the type of car. I was on a trip that lasted about 900 miles, most of that was on wet, snowy, slushy roads. I was never more terrified and scared to death. Any time I would hit a patch of slush, even a TINY spot, I could feel the tire pick up and hydroplane instantly. I had to slow down to less than 40mph on the interstate because I was afraid of what would happen if I was to go any faster. I came upon a high mountain pass which the plows had not yet hit, but I could follow other's tracks. I hit one area where the slush was excessive and I slid off the road, no thanks to hydroplaning. I had to be flatbed towed into town.

...It is very Quiet, responsive, and comfortable to the highest degree...
I bought the tire based on all the reviews. And Everyone was right about the tire. It is very Quiet, responsive, and comfortable to the highest degree. performace was also noticably better. Of coars all that is going to be better than the OEM Goodyear RSAs that came with it. I had one problem with it though that caused me to return the tires. They track the Rain Groves on the Southern California Innerstate Highways. I dont know how the highways are in other states, but where I live in socal, the hiways have these rain grooves, that aren't that straight, and the tires had a tendancy to track them. My tires are wide though at 245/45r18 so maybe that has something to do with it, but it was a deal breaker. The car would go side to side, as the lines in the freeway did. I traded them in for some Yokohamas yk520s, which were way noiser, Much rougher, and tracked the road even more. It was so bad that I would actually slow down cause It felt unsafe at times. For the Yokes. Ultimately I purchased the General Exclaim UHPs which seem comperable in ride comfort, and noise level, but dont track the Freeway rain grooves in Socal. If you dont have these rain grooves in your highways, or anywhere on your commute, this tire is great, from what I can tell based on the 350 miles I drove on them and based on the fact that Ive had 4 different tires on my car in the last month.

...That set of tires had 57,230 miles ( rotated every 7500 miles) on them at the time that they were replaced. They had not worn down to the wear indicator and they still performed well in wet conditions...
My daily route to work consists of twisty country highway. So, I routinely put these tires through the paces with a smile on my face.
This is the 2nd set of these tires that I've purchased from tire rack to place my car. I made the decision to purchase my first set based on the tire rack performance reviews and the price. That set of tires had 57,230 miles (rotated every 7500 miles) on them at the time that they were replaced. They had not worn down to the wear indicator and they still performed well in wet conditions.
The new tires are performing the same as the old set; very responsive steering, low noise on the highway and smooth overall ride. My last set didn't acheive maximum cornering and straight-line traction ability until they had about 2000 miles on them, so that is what I would expect out my new set. However, they perform quite well before they are broken in, so this was/is not an issue. Overall, I feel that this is a very good tire for the money. I would definitely consider purchasing a 3rd set when I need new tires.

I have not seen significant signs of wear on these tires until at my most recent rotation; I think I can manage another 10,000 before the wear bars show...
I had the Ecsta LX Premium ordered via Tire Rack and mounted on my Genesis in January 2011, replacing the OE Dunlop SP5000s which were noisy and awful. Ride quality and noise improved dramatically immediately. I racked up a lot of miles on these tires, including a drive to the Canadian Rockies in mid-2012. Tires have been excellent in both dry and wet conditions. No comment on snow performance as it doesn't snow in Greater Los Angeles, and my visits to snowy areas have been on roads that have had snow removal done - wet and cold but not icy. As the tires have aged, road noise has increased and ride quality is firmer, but both remain tolerable. I have not seen significant signs of wear on these tires until at my most recent rotation; I think I can manage another 10,000 before the wear bars show, though I do have a flat right now and if it can't be repaired I will go ahead and replace the entire set. I will definitely be getting the Ecsta LX Premium again.
