The Crugen HT51 is Kumho's Highway All-Season tire developed for drivers of light-duty pickups, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles looking for durability, a comfortable ride and all-season capability, including light snow traction. The Crugen HT51 is an all-weather tire that meets industry severe snow service requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance.
The Crugen HT51 utilizes an all-season tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design with an optimized geometric block layout for maximum treadlife. The five-rib tread design features a stiff center block design for improved straight-line stability and enhanced dry traction. Four wide, circumferential zigzag grooves create a vortex effect to enhance water flow-through, increasing hydroplaning resistance, while 3D zigzag sipes provide the biting edges necessary for light snow traction.
Beginning in the 13th week of 2017, all Crugen HT51 tires manufactured are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, indicating they are severe snow service rated. Tires manufactured before this date may not bear the 3PMSF symbol, but all Crugen HT51 tires meet the standards required for severe snow service rating.
The tire’s internal structure consists of a two-ply polyester cord body for enhanced ride quality and improved strength. Two wide steel belts sit on top of the casing and are reinforced by two spirally-wrapped nylon cord caps, enhancing handling, durability and stability at highway speeds.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Highway All-Season: The Quietest, Most Comfortable Truck Tires - 2024 Test 7 With Winter Update(24.17)
In our seventh tire test of the year, we took nine Highway All-Season tires to the street, test track, and into wintery conditions to see how they stacked up. The Highway All-Season category is a staple for trucks and large SUVs, combining the weight load limits needed with touring tire manners. If your driving experience keeps to paved and packed gravel surfaces, the Highway All-Season category is for you!
Owners report excellent dry traction and confident wet performance, with scores often in the 8-10 range, aligning well with its on-road all-terrain purpose. Winter traction stands out, particularly in deep snow and slush, though ice scores show occasional variability (6-10). Ride comfort receives consistent praise for smoothness, and noise levels are generally acceptable for the category. Treadwear earns positive marks overall, though a few ratings note faster wear (scores as low as 0-4), suggesting mixed experiences with longevity. Drivers highlight reliable handling on rugged terrain and commend its balanced on-road manners, making it a strong choice for those prioritizing all-weather capability without sacrificing daily drivability.

These tires went on my '89 Suburban 2500 that weighs in around 6500 lbs. I live at the end of a long gravel road that gets pretty rough at certain times of the year. That road exits onto a fast moving two-lane highway. Six months out of the year, I can also expect significant snow. I hate bothering with winter/summer tire sets, especially when I'm buying 35" tires, so I try to find a single tire solution.
Put that all together and my tire requirements are tough fill.
These Kumhos have been fantastic on everything including rocky trails, muddy dirt roads, gravel, and high speed highways. The only place they struggle a little is ice, but in this respect they do better than any other non-ice-specific tire I've ever owned. I'm still driving them in an arctic winter and I haven't had a problem yet!
Unless something spectacular comes along, I'll probably replace the General Grabber A/TX tires I have on my other truck. They pale in comparison as an all-purpose, off-road capable tire.
Highly recommended.

These tires handle deep snow well and recently I tested them on beaches in VA and NC. After airing down to 18 psi, they performed well in sand and around the islands at speeds < 50 mph.
In snow at standard psi for my truck, they performed well. Maybe would have been better with slightly less air during our winter snow storms.
Tires havent let me down in either snow or sand. 10k miles on this set, but i had another set on my Tahoe get 44k plus miles. Would likely buy again.

I have come to know the ride and performance of the Kumho tire, no matter what vehicle I mount them on, is a win win tire. The price is right for my pocket book, the tire noise is low, and they wear great. Kumho tires are my favorite tires of choice for all of our vehicles, and for the last couple of decades.
