The Road Venture MT KL71 is Kumho's Off-Road Maximum Traction light truck tire developed for the drivers of 4x4 jeeps, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles looking for aggressive off-road performance and assertive on-road appearance. The Road Venture MT KL71 is available in large rim diameter sizes designed to be at home in mild to wild on- and off-road conditions.
The Road Venture MT KL71 features a cut- and chip-resistant tread compound molded into a directional pattern comprised of packed center blocks, alternating width shoulder lugs, mud/stone ejector bars and aggressive sidewall lugs that provide the biting edges needed to dig through mud and travel along trails, as well as claw their way through ruts and over rocks. The tire's internal structure includes two high-tensile steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon for strength and durability. A unique rubber compound under the tread and above the belts helps block out impact shock and noise to enhance ride comfort. A two-ply polyester cord body enhances ride quality while it helps provide protection from on- and off-road stresses.
While Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, which are often called mud tires, are branded with the M+S symbol and able to churn through deep snow, their typical oversize applications and limited use of snow-biting sipes in their large smooth lugs can challenge their on-road wintertime traction on packed snow and icy surfaces.

Feedback consistently shows the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 excels in dry traction (scores 8-10) and wet traction (7-10), with many praising its confident grip in rugged off-road conditions. Winter traction receives strong marks (7-10) for deep snow performance, though ice traction shows variability (scores 2-10). Treadwear is generally praised (7-10), though a few report premature wear. Comfort scores are solid (7-10), but noise levels split opinions, with some noting significant road hum (scores 0-10). ...Heavy rain with standing water on the road is no problem at all... Water, sand, mud...these tires will grip and pull you right through...
I've had these tires for a little less than a year. I do an even mix of city/highway/off-road driving. These tires look absolutely sick in person. The pictures definitely don't do them justice. I have been extremely happy with their on-road performance. Heavy rain with standing water on the road is no problem at all. You would expect a lot of noise and a pretty rough ride since they are a mud tire, but they are actually quieter and ride softer than the all-terrains that were on my Jeep when I bought it. Off-road, these tires are AMAZING! Water, sand, mud...these tires will grip and pull you right through. I have crawled though spots without problem that others with higher-priced/big-name tires have had to be pulled through or winched out of right before me. If you are looking for an aggressive-looking, easy-driving, and extremely capable tire, these are your choice. Buy these tires and you will NOT regret it.

...Wet or dry, doesnt matter. Really impressive dry/wet on-road grip compared with premium AT tyres... If you hydroplane with these on youre doing something really wrong! They pump water out and stay stuck without wrenching at the wheel or anything...
Wow! These are the best 4x4 tyres Ive ever experienced. Amazingly competent on-road for such an aggressive design. These drive better on-road than my previous Goodyear AT/Rs (silica) and BFG ATs and Dunlop AT2s. Wet or dry, doesnt matter. Really impressive dry/wet on-road grip compared with premium AT tyres, and off-road ability that leaves them for dead. We get a lot of really slippery, clagging clay around here and these just keep going and going and going where the others would put me into a ditch and leave me there. A squeeze of the throttle and they clear the treads and just claw their way forward. They work more like a competition tyre, but with the on-road manners of a good AT. Quiet, too. Not really any noisier than the BFG ATs. I can barely hear them at highway speeds, and the slightest amount of radio covers that. Their only small vice is that they are a bit nobly and rumbly at walking to slow jogging speeds, but otherwise you wouldnt know they were a full-on mud tyre. If you hydroplane with these on youre doing something really wrong! They pump water out and stay stuck without wrenching at the wheel or anything. Well done, Kumho! Top marks. I was going to spend 50% more on Goodyear MTRs but am now really glad I found these instead and didnt waste my money. Theyll probably wear a bit quicker, but such a small price to pay for this awesome performance (and looks). You cant go wrong with these, highly recommended. Bring on the snow :)

...they have MUCH better traction in ALL conditions... they are stable in all conditions...
Put these tires on my Jeep Wrangler Sport. LOVE them, they are quieter than the GY Wranglers that were on it prior, they have MUCH better traction in ALL conditions. Air them down to 7 PSI on the Rocks, and they grip better than tires costing twice to three times as much. My Jeep is no trailer queen, so she sees some Hi Way miles, they are stable in all conditions, and run smooth at 70+ MPH. I will be getting these for my F350 as soon as the Cooper AT3's are ready to be replaced.

Customers praise the KL71's deep snow traction with many 9-10 scores. While ice performance varies (some 5-7 ratings), most report confident snow handling. Excellent off-road winter capability overall.

I live in colorado and they get there share of all sorts of terrain deep snow 18+inches and more to adobe clay they clean very well and drive extremely smooth on the highway... my only complaint is they need bigger sidebiters and the center tread could be sipped that would help with the light snow and ice, but I know a m/t was not designed to be a ice tire but these are fairly good in the ice...
I bought this tire just from the reviews that I have read from here and I couldnt be any happier with them, I have zero wear with them and for a m/t they are just as quiet as the bfgkm2 and a heck of a lot cheaper. I live in colorado and they get there share of all sorts of terrain deep snow 18+inches and more to adobe clay they clean very well and drive extremely smooth on the highway, they use have half the weight that my goodyear highway treads had. my only complaint is they need bigger sidebiters and the center tread could be sipped that would help with the light snow and ice, but I know a m/t was not designed to be a ice tire but these are fairly good in the ice. I pull a snowmobile trailer to the mountains through mud and snow and these are the best I have had.

...They were awesome in the snow and in the woods...
The best tires I have ever had. I also had them on a 1990 Jeep Cherokee that I did some regular off roading and I travelled an average of 500 miles a week for college. They were awesome in the snow and in the woods. I wouldnt buy anything else.

The best traction I have ever experienced from MT / AT tire. The traction is amazing; however what is just amazing is how well they handle on the pavement. This tire performs so much better than any other tire I have owned I would have to say that it has to be the best MT / AT tire available. I just went for a run out in 12-24" of drifted snow and plowed through a lane over my bumper and these tires can't be stopped. It's almost like having locked differentials. Tire noise is very reasonable for this type of tire the ride is excellent and the looks are awesome.

These tires have almost no road noise at all!!! I have not had them off road yet but we did get a bunch of rain and I did loose a little traction in standing water at about 55mph but that is to be expected from a MT...
These are by far the best MT I have ever owned. They have extremely aggressive tread and a very tough look. I have recently had BFG MTs and the noise was almost unbearable at highway speeds. These tires have almost no road noise at all!!! I have not had them off road yet but we did get a bunch of rain and I did loose a little traction in standing water at about 55mph but that is to be expected from a MT. I would recommend these tires for anyone. The price is right also, a lot of tire for the money. I deffinetely found my new brand of tire.

...grip is very very good in the dirt and gravel and sand tested. I think with all MT tires you cannot expect street perfection for this kind of tire, but these come very close...
I replaced the factory tires on my Fj with these for a more aggressive look and seeking a MT. I have to say i am pretty impressed so far. I drove the first weekend i got them in a pounding rain storm to the cottage and found them to be pretty sure footed for such a aggressive tread. The road noise is very good for a MT. Closer to the cottage i hit the brakes hard in the rain to see how they would stick. With the ABS and traction contol on the FJ they were very solid to grab the wet pavement. I have not had a chance to test the snow traction as of yet.
I am running 60 pounds and have not found the tire to be anything but solid feeling on the Highway. My crusing speed on the highway is 70 mph and have not experinced any swaying of any kind.
Driving around town they are very quite and you would not no you where running MTS if not for the slighte roll start of the tread on the pavement for the first rotation.
Off road at the cottage the tires feel fantastic and grip is very very good in the dirt and gravel and sand tested. I think with all MT tires you cannot expect street perfection for this kind of tire, but these come very close.
I choose the Kumho KL71 for there look mainly to give the truck a much more aggressive look like the concept FJ Plus find a set of tires that would work much better all round then the stock Grandtreks.
Based on the response of comments from the street on how good the truck looks I am pretty happy with the look of the tire.
As far as performance and highway so far, a great tire for the money and nothing out there looks like it.

...The noise is quite low untill you get up to 55 miles an hour the only time they make alot of noise is around tight corners at slow speeds, but this is the only gripe I have about these tires for noise...
Great tire for all around use. first 500 miles of use are mostly breakin period. Good in snow and suprisingly good on wet roads. Nice traction in the mud and on rocks for offroading. The noise of this tire is quite low untill you get up to 55 miles an hour the only time they make alot of noise is around tight corners at slow speeds, but this is the only gripe I have about these tires for noise. compared to other tires of this catagory and size, these tires are the best Ive owned in a long time and will probable get them again. The only other thing that I dont like is the sizes of the tires, I hate how if you want a large size tire I have to go to a large wheel size. No self respecting offroader would have 20s on his vehicle. All and all these tires are very performance oriented and great in all aspects of the road and offroad.

Excellent off road tire. But also a great on road tire for regular driving. Was afraid they would be rough, but they really are some of the smoothest tires I have had on my Jeep. Would highly recommend these, especially for the new JK Wrangler Jeeps. The 33x12.5 18 fit great and are perfect all around tires.

I've been having these tires on my truck for a little over 30,000 miles and still have about %40-50 left on them. I rotate every 5,000 miles and wears pretty even I run the highway atlease 70 miles a week and have taking about 6 3-6 hour trips on them. I have been satisfied with these tires. The only mud terrain I have owned out of the 4 brands I have ran is the bfg mt. My worse complain about the tires is they were really quiet when brand new but make some noise now but still not as loud as a swamper or mud grappler. Best thing about the tires is the look and pretty good life I will get out of them

coming up on 50,000 miles now. never a flat, never stuck(except for the one time i was playing on a snow bank and all my tires were off the ground), never a complaint about this tire... you definitely need to rotate them every few thousand miles. front start to wear, and get the sawtooth thing happening...
coming up on 50,000 miles now. never a flat, never stuck(except for the one time i was playing on a snow bank and all my tires were off the ground), never a complaint about this tire. been through deep mud, deep snow, deep water, on quad trails, sand, clay, rock, oh...and road. smooth and quiet for a long time, then some noise during its life, now seems quieter again. you definitely need to rotate them every few thousand miles. front start to wear, and get the "sawtooth" thing happening. i loved the look of them. leaves a cool footprint in fresh deep snow or mud. looks mean and sporty. everyone comments on the look. i comment on the performance. have driven aired down to 10psi and less...even on the highway. they handle fine. people do need to consider it IS A MUD TIRE. there will be noise, and its not gonna handle like a corvette. nothing is great on ice...unless ya have spikes, but these do fine. i have had the old style kuhmo m/t's, and i thought those were unstoppable offroad. these are even better. the bigger name companies tires may work ok, but i am so happy with everything these tires offer...at a much lower price, so why bother? and from others have to say, i am not alone.
so at 50,000 these tires will be replaced...with newer bigger versions, just because its snow season, and not sure whats left will be safe in deep snow. they do have some life left, so they may live on on another vehicle.
sounds to me like the ones with anything negative to say about these tires dont understand mud tires and what should be expected. and explain how i have almost 50,000 miles, as well as others have stated, and some say they have 15,000 and they are worn??? better check front end alignment, air pressure, or your driving.
great tires! get em! enjoy em!
