The Road Venture MT KL71 is Kumho's Off-Road Maximum Traction light truck tire developed for the drivers of 4x4 jeeps, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles looking for aggressive off-road performance and assertive on-road appearance. The Road Venture MT KL71 is available in large rim diameter sizes designed to be at home in mild to wild on- and off-road conditions.
The Road Venture MT KL71 features a cut- and chip-resistant tread compound molded into a directional pattern comprised of packed center blocks, alternating width shoulder lugs, mud/stone ejector bars and aggressive sidewall lugs that provide the biting edges needed to dig through mud and travel along trails, as well as claw their way through ruts and over rocks. The tire's internal structure includes two high-tensile steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon for strength and durability. A unique rubber compound under the tread and above the belts helps block out impact shock and noise to enhance ride comfort. A two-ply polyester cord body enhances ride quality while it helps provide protection from on- and off-road stresses.
While Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, which are often called mud tires, are branded with the M+S symbol and able to churn through deep snow, their typical oversize applications and limited use of snow-biting sipes in their large smooth lugs can challenge their on-road wintertime traction on packed snow and icy surfaces.

Customers think the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 excels in dry and wet traction, with scores often reaching 9-10, making it a standout for off-road adventures. Winter traction shines in deep snow (frequent 8-10 ratings), though ice performance shows mixed results (scores as low as 3-5). Treadwear earns consistent praise (many 9-10s), suggesting reliable longevity for aggressive terrain. Comfort receives positive feedback overall, but noise levels split opinions-some note it’s louder than expected. Built for rugged use, it delivers robust off-road capability while balancing on-road drivability, though ice-focused drivers may want added caution.

So it rained a solid 18 hours here between last night and today so of course I had to try the tires out. You have got to get a set! Nothing else can be said. I took the back way to Devils Corral trying to get stuck and couldnt. I didnt even slide backwards until I was out on the main road and took a small road into a blow out. There was a nasty incline with rocks that led to a platform on the canyon wall. I finally started to slide backwards and decided to use the gas. These tires grabbed so much that I started to move sideways and climbed a rock ledge that was almost to my front bumper. No problems. Didnt even air down the tires. Going back down wasnt a challenge either. The only problem was that the ledge hit my trailer hitch and I became high centered. A little push on the gas and the front tires pulled me off of the ledge. By far the best inexpensive tire I have ever purchased.

...Heavy rain with standing water on the road is no problem at all... Water, sand, mud...these tires will grip and pull you right through...
I've had these tires for a little less than a year. I do an even mix of city/highway/off-road driving. These tires look absolutely sick in person. The pictures definitely don't do them justice. I have been extremely happy with their on-road performance. Heavy rain with standing water on the road is no problem at all. You would expect a lot of noise and a pretty rough ride since they are a mud tire, but they are actually quieter and ride softer than the all-terrains that were on my Jeep when I bought it. Off-road, these tires are AMAZING! Water, sand, mud...these tires will grip and pull you right through. I have crawled though spots without problem that others with higher-priced/big-name tires have had to be pulled through or winched out of right before me. If you are looking for an aggressive-looking, easy-driving, and extremely capable tire, these are your choice. Buy these tires and you will NOT regret it.

...Wet or dry, doesnt matter. Really impressive dry/wet on-road grip compared with premium AT tyres... If you hydroplane with these on youre doing something really wrong! They pump water out and stay stuck without wrenching at the wheel or anything...
Wow! These are the best 4x4 tyres Ive ever experienced. Amazingly competent on-road for such an aggressive design. These drive better on-road than my previous Goodyear AT/Rs (silica) and BFG ATs and Dunlop AT2s. Wet or dry, doesnt matter. Really impressive dry/wet on-road grip compared with premium AT tyres, and off-road ability that leaves them for dead. We get a lot of really slippery, clagging clay around here and these just keep going and going and going where the others would put me into a ditch and leave me there. A squeeze of the throttle and they clear the treads and just claw their way forward. They work more like a competition tyre, but with the on-road manners of a good AT. Quiet, too. Not really any noisier than the BFG ATs. I can barely hear them at highway speeds, and the slightest amount of radio covers that. Their only small vice is that they are a bit nobly and rumbly at walking to slow jogging speeds, but otherwise you wouldnt know they were a full-on mud tyre. If you hydroplane with these on youre doing something really wrong! They pump water out and stay stuck without wrenching at the wheel or anything. Well done, Kumho! Top marks. I was going to spend 50% more on Goodyear MTRs but am now really glad I found these instead and didnt waste my money. Theyll probably wear a bit quicker, but such a small price to pay for this awesome performance (and looks). You cant go wrong with these, highly recommended. Bring on the snow :)

...Mud, Snow, Deep Snow, more mud and more snow, lol BUY THESE TIRES, you wont regret it :)
This is a tire I never saw coming. I went through onw set of BFG MT's and Goodyear MTR's when i came back to tire rack and checked these out I was a little unsure of them since they were designed for larger rimmed vehicles. I did some reading on them and decided to go for it and all my firneds laughed at me. Well guess what, these tires just killed the road and now im laughing at all my friends. Mud, Snow, Deep Snow, more mud and more snow, lol BUY THESE TIRES, you wont regret it :)

...They were awesome in the snow and in the woods...
The best tires I have ever had. I also had them on a 1990 Jeep Cherokee that I did some regular off roading and I travelled an average of 500 miles a week for college. They were awesome in the snow and in the woods. I wouldnt buy anything else.

...These tires have performed very exceptional in the mud/snow/ and dirt...
After looking at several mud tires the price finally made me settle on these. I figured I would give them a go. Upon install the tire center said one of the tires was off a bit, upon looking at it you could tell the bead hole had a wobble in it...I decided to let it ride. 40K miles later they are wearing perfect and have about 5-10K worth of life left. I have a 2013 Ford F150 FX4 Supercrew cab. I am always hauling stuff and pulling trailers. My highway speeds are always 80MPH+. I rotate them every 5K miles and keep 45 PSI in them. These tires have performed very exceptional in the mud/snow/ and dirt. IF you are looking for a true mud tire to get down and dirty and don't care about mileage don't look here, the center tread pattern on these is not as aggressive as say a buckshot mudder which is why I believe it has lasted me so long. But if you need a mud tire that has great highway handling and longevity then this is your tire. I have several power mods on my truck, pushing close to 480HP and these tires have even seen speeds of 140MPH, albeit Ive only done that a couple times as they are not rated for that, I was still impressed. I am not sure if its the tire or the power to the ground but I did find out I had a cracked rim the other day I will have to replace. Ford says its a stress crack not due to me hitting anything. I have only plugged one tire due to a nail and it has held for about 10K miles now. The road noise was not bad the first 10K miles but after the second tire rotation it did get a lot louder. While it was bad, when I hit 40K miles I have noticed a huge increase in volume, but I was told by the tire center that would happen as they get close to being worn out. Really that's the only thing negative I have to say about these tires, and I am not sure that would not be the case for any other mud tire. I pulled a 16' trailer through the mud buried to the front air dam for about 40 yards in 4wd low all 4 tires slung mud 20' high and I never slowed down.

...Wet and dry traction is amazing, and the large blocks give an incredibly smooth ride...
I have nad many different mudders on many vehicles, and these just weren't for me. The ride is great, but the noise is just too much. I messed around with air pressure and finally got them to tame down at 30 psi, but then I lost 4 mpg on my gas mileage. They are exceptionally noisy until you get to highway speeds, then they seem to quiet down a bit. Maybe they would be quieter on larger trucks. Wet and dry traction is amazing, and the large blocks give an incredibly smooth ride. Had an inch of wet snow the other day, and in 2wd did nothing but spin. Once I locked into 4wd though, they seem to work very well together and tracked pretty well. I did take them out to the gravel pits and try their mud traction which is incredible. I drove through things that I would never have tried before and they didn't even hint at losing traction. These are definitley made for the mud. Have not been able to try in deep snow, but I'm sure they would be great. If you do a lot of dirt and mud, don't hesitate to buy these tires. If you are looking for an overall tire to handle every type of driving, look at something else. I've already ordered a replacement set and will have these off my truck and sold in the next couple weeks.

...on road they're great a little vibration during sharp corners at low speeds other than that awesome...
so i've got a 96 zj 4x4 it's stock except for the tires which work great by the way i've traversed 60 degree hills made of Ga red clay while it's raining and if you know red clay you know it's slick and the only time i've gotten stuck i was trying to by sitting in a mudhole and sinking the end result was mud past the bottom of my door i didn't think it was that deep these tires have taken me places a stock grand probably shouldn't go on road they're great a little vibration during sharp corners at low speeds other than that awesome i would def recommend these to other people you can't get better for the price

...They are very well balanced, even smooth at 80 on the highway, no shimmy...
I just purchased this tire on Friday the 16th of march 07 , and we got at least 6-8 inches of snow this afternoon . These tires are amazing they are not that loud considering they have a very aggressive tread. They go right through the snow like its not there. I am so impressed with them and would definitely buy them again! They are very well balanced ,even smooth at 80 on the highway ,no shimmy . They dig really well in the mud too! I hear that they may wear a little quicker than some ,but I dont know yet . Im very pleased overall and will consider them again as a definite possibility next time ( they look kick-------- also)

LOVE these tires!!! Had to search high and low to find them due to back orders. Once on the truck they were the best tire I have driven on. They have just enough aggressive look to add to any style of truck/suv. Yet they have the ride quality of what you wwould expect for a luxury car. Great Tire Over-All

...I have recently had BFG MTs and the noise was almost unbearable at highway speeds. These tires have almost no road noise at all!!!...
These are by far the best MT I have ever owned. They have extremely aggressive tread and a very tough look. I have recently had BFG MTs and the noise was almost unbearable at highway speeds. These tires have almost no road noise at all!!! I have not had them off road yet but we did get a bunch of rain and I did loose a little traction in standing water at about 55mph but that is to be expected from a MT. I would recommend these tires for anyone. The price is right also, a lot of tire for the money. I deffinetely found my new brand of tire.
