The CrossClimate² is Michelin's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sedans, coupes, station wagons, crossovers and SUVs looking for daily driving comfort combined with confident performance in dry, wet and light snow conditions. The CrossClimate² is designed as an all-weather tire to meet industry severe snow service requirements qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance and is intended to function as a one-tire solution for drivers that experience all four seasons but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire.

Michelin CrossClimate2 Callouts

The CrossClimate² features Michelin's Thermal Adaptive all-season tread compound molded into a V-Formation directional tread design engineered to deliver dry, wet and wintertime performance. Michelin utilized their PIANO Noise Reduction Tuning which employs advanced tread pattern modeling that helps tune out airborne noise by augmenting tread element geometry and timing variation. Longitudinal dry grip is promoted by the center portion of the tread, with blocks that align with fore and aft forces, increasing uninterrupted block area contact when accelerating or decelerating. Braking traction is further enhanced by V Ramp chamfers molded into the leading and trailing edges of the blocks that increase contact with the road surface under load. Further outboard, the shoulder blocks begin to align laterally with the tread, helping increase cornering forces and control. 3D SipeLock technology integrated into the tread, supports block rigidity for confident handling while also increasing traction in inclement weather. The steep angles designed into the tread pattern help channel water away from the contact patch, increasing hydroplaning resistance without the need for circumferential grooves. This grooveless pattern evens out load forces to benefit wear characteristics, while creating more biting area for wintertime traction. Snow performance is further enhanced by the Thermal Adaptive Tread compound, ensuring the tire remains flexible at lower temperatures for increased snow traction sufficient to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Internal construction of the CrossClimate² consists of a two-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement is added to further enhance high speed stability and performance.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Great wet traction... It's worth it for the confidence in wet traction.

Great tires compared to my last set of a different well known brand. Great wet traction. There is a little bit more noise than my previous tires and I believe I get a little worse gas mileage according to my gauge but it’s pretty negligible overall. It’s worth it for the confidence in wet traction.

Posting this after only a couple hundred miles, so take the review FWIW. Found out my previous tires needed replacement after driving in wet conditions and hydroplaning even at relatively low speeds. Of course, this happened on Thanksgiving day. Once we got to our destination, I hopped onto TireRack.com and started researching. Found these were highly rated for wet conditions and placed an order. Got them installed a couple days later. Had to drive ~ 120 miles for a quick visit to family. Ride out was excellent in dry conditions. Ride home was more challenging. Drove ~ 2 hours through a mix of snow/sleet and eventually rain through central PA in early morning. Roads had not been cleared or well cared for. Tires performed well. Seem fine around town as well. So far, so good!

...It's now February and after 4 weeks of constant snow, sleet and ice I can confidently write this review claiming these may be the best tires offered for any car period... But this winter with these tires, I did not slip, slide or have any issues coming to a stop like I have with past tires. I tried several times to get "spirited" in an empty icy parking lot and THEY WOULD NOT BREAK TRACTION...

These are single handedly the best tires I have ever purchased, ever. I was hesitant at first to buy such “premium” or “expensive” tires but they are well worth the extra money. I have 10,000 miles on them, as well as almost a full year, a spring, summer, fall and particularly grueling winter and so far you cannot tell that the tread has worn even a little bit. Where I live, throughout the year we get highs of 100 in the summer, and in winter we get below zero with 12+ inches of snowfall. It’s now February and after 4 weeks of constant snow, sleet and ice I can confidently write this review claiming these may be the best tires offered for any car period. The accord crosstour, while not having a world famous 4WD system will always do “okay” in snowy conditions. But this winter with these tires, I did not slip, slide or have any issues coming to a stop like I have with past tires. I tried several times to get “spirited” in an empty icy parking lot and THEY WOULD NOT BREAK TRACTION. It actually felt like I was cheating having these tires on. Not to mention the summer performance of these tires is phenomenal. There’s minimum road noise and you have a sense of “grounded” that, at least for me, I have never felt before. I have NOT hydroplaned once in these tires even when I definitely should have. I cannot rate these highly enough. I cannot recommend these tires enough. Go ahead and spend the extra $300. What you lose in money will be far compensated by the safety, reliability, stability, capability, and dependability of these tires.

...Snow traction is better than snow tires. Not even kidding, pushed deep powder snow with the headlights after a huge storm up a 20% grade driveway!!...

We live in the mountains. Several facts I discovered after 1yr on these AMAZING tires:
* Better summer traction and ride than standard tread tires.
* Outstanding wet traction, they don't hydroplane at all. Even at 70MPH
* Snow traction is better than snow tires. Not even kidding, pushed deep powder snow with the headlights after a huge storm up a 20% grade driveway!!
* Tire racks warranty ROCKS! We blew a tire in a huge pothole; Tire Rack fully refunded the price of a new tire.
* Fuel Mileage- this one surprised me, the rolling resistance is very low, I honestly get 4 miles per gallon better than our old toyo tires.
* Tire price, Remeber to factor in that MPG gain over the tire's life.
* Just a darn good tire, almost perfectly balanced required little weights.

...Dry traction over the OEM has much more grip.

Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires replaced the OE Falken Wildpeak H/T’s. The Wildpeak H/T’s were barely 24,000 miles but severely worn. The directional tread pattern of the Michelin tires complements the Trailhawk SUV with some style while at the same time does not look like a generic street tire. Cross Climate 2’s benefits were immediately noticeable.

Dry traction over the OEM has much more grip. I have not noticed a change in fuel economy. I still average 30-32 MPG on highway trips to and from work. There is no noticeable tire noise or droning in town or on the highway. The Cross Climate 2 tracks better on the road than the old Wildpeak H/T tires.

After driving in 11 inches of snow, I am impressed with the tires and how the Compass Trailhawk handles the snowpack, deep snow and slick spots. In 4x4 mode with 8-11 inches of snow in the area, the tires are fully capable of safely traveling at a reasonable pace.

I have driven many tire brands over 46 years and have always had good results from Michelin tires. I would recommend the Cross Climate 2’s for anyone who wants one tire capable of handling all four seasons and who does not plan to purchase a dedicated winter/snow tire for winter months.

...Although I am hopeful these will meet my winter road conditions expectations/needs, 800 miles of dry road performance has been subpar to my previous setup... One can't really appreciate the GTI on dry roads with these...

Purchase with Tirerack super smooth. Will be coming back for summer tires

Bottom line: After 800 miles of Fall driving, will be swapping out with new summer tires in Spring. Don’t meet my wish for a fun all season set up.

Long story: Bought my GTI 5 years ago, January. First snow condition experience was like driving on an ice skate rink. Immediately after that, I put (2) Mich X-ice up front and (2) Pirelli all season Cinturato in back. Year round driving was fun, pleasurable the car was precise and felt tight/laser like. Ran this setup happily year round. Last month, 40,000 miles later, time to replace all (4) before this winter. I saw the Mich CC2 has a similar tread design of X-ice so I decided to ‘take a chance’ on replacing with (4) CC2 for a all year round set up. Despite some negative comments on various GTI forum’s regarding all season use, I took a chance. Well………Can’t win ‘em all. Although I am hopeful these will meet my winter road conditions expectations/needs, 800 miles of dry road performance has been subpar to my previous setup. I agree with the forums. One can’t really appreciate the GTI on dry roads with these. Come Spring, I will be shopping for a dedicated summer performance tire and swapping out.

...I'm also expecting longer tread life than the 19K I got on the Pirellis.

So far I've been pleased with these tires on my X3. They are quieter and smoother than the Pirelli Cinturato P7 runflats I previously had. I will say that I've noticed about a 1 MPG deficit in my fuel mileage since installing these tires, and I've seen similar comments from others about that. I've also noticed that while the tire size is exactly the same as the previous Pirellis these CrossClimate2's do look wider on the vehicle. I'm also expecting longer tread life than the 19K I got on the Pirellis.

I always purchase high end luxury or sport tires depending on the vehicle. I am shocked at how smooth and quiet these tires are on a soccer mom SUV.
