The CrossClimate² is Michelin's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sedans, coupes, station wagons, crossovers and SUVs looking for daily driving comfort combined with confident performance in dry, wet and light snow conditions. The CrossClimate² is designed as an all-weather tire to meet industry severe snow service requirements qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance and is intended to function as a one-tire solution for drivers that experience all four seasons but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire.

Michelin CrossClimate2 Callouts

The CrossClimate² features Michelin's Thermal Adaptive all-season tread compound molded into a V-Formation directional tread design engineered to deliver dry, wet and wintertime performance. Michelin utilized their PIANO Noise Reduction Tuning which employs advanced tread pattern modeling that helps tune out airborne noise by augmenting tread element geometry and timing variation. Longitudinal dry grip is promoted by the center portion of the tread, with blocks that align with fore and aft forces, increasing uninterrupted block area contact when accelerating or decelerating. Braking traction is further enhanced by V Ramp chamfers molded into the leading and trailing edges of the blocks that increase contact with the road surface under load. Further outboard, the shoulder blocks begin to align laterally with the tread, helping increase cornering forces and control. 3D SipeLock technology integrated into the tread, supports block rigidity for confident handling while also increasing traction in inclement weather. The steep angles designed into the tread pattern help channel water away from the contact patch, increasing hydroplaning resistance without the need for circumferential grooves. This grooveless pattern evens out load forces to benefit wear characteristics, while creating more biting area for wintertime traction. Snow performance is further enhanced by the Thermal Adaptive Tread compound, ensuring the tire remains flexible at lower temperatures for increased snow traction sufficient to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Internal construction of the CrossClimate² consists of a two-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement is added to further enhance high speed stability and performance.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...The wet traction is excellent, the dry traction is excellent, and the handling cannot be beat...

This is my second set of these exact tires. I have wide 20-in rims on my truck, these tires fill out the rim, and have a profile that I like. The wet traction is excellent, the dry traction is excellent, and the handling cannot be beat. Excellent ride, too. Buy a set.

These tires are very quiet and comfortable and they provide very good dry and wet traction. They are much quieter than my previous set of discount brand tires. They look great and appear to be very well made. If they last as long as I have read from other testimonies then I will definitely buy another set.

...Great wet and dry performance, low noise, high comfort and long treadwear that remain consistent throughout the tire life...

These tires are so good for this vehicle, I must recommend them. Great wet and dry performance, low noise, high comfort and long treadwear that remain consistent throughout the tire life. Replaced two at 68,000 miles, many of which were towing a motorcycle trailer. Predictable in snow up to a few inches. A revelation compared to OEM Goodyears.

...My first winter with this SUV was the real test. in a sudden snow storm that left many streets unplowed, the Michelin Defenders pulled through 8-9 inches of unplowed snow with no problem! I was very impressed...

I usually do not like Michelins due to my "spirited" style of driving. The tire rubber is too soft and I end up replacing the tires before I get the proposed mileage out of them. I'm a Bridgestone girl. Bought my Acura MDX and it had Michelin Defenders on it. I expected to replace them a long time ago, but almost 4.5 years later I am now just needing to replace them. My first winter with this SUV was the real test. In a sudden snow storm that left many streets unplowed, the Michelin Defenders pulled through 8-9 inches of unplowed snow with no problem! I was very impressed. I live in the Harrisburg, PA area which is all hills and valleys and never have a problem in any type of weather with these tires. I highly recommend them for any type of weather or road condition. Will be purchasing again.

...Excellent in the snow, confident in the rain, smooth and quiet on the highway...

Best tire I have ever purchased. Excellent in the snow, confident in the rain, smooth and quiet on the highway. This tire checks all the boxes. I just rolled over 70,000 miles and did what will probably be the last tire rotation. Fingers crossed for 80,000+. Treadwear is even with no vibrations or abnormal noises. I had a nail puncture at 60,000 on one tire and after a good patch job it’s still holding strong. I’m very pleased.

My second set of these tires. Got 45,000 miles on previous set under average driving. For a M+S tire, it does everything well to really well. Traction and stability in 4WD in light to moderate snow is impressive. More cornering stability is my only desire. I will keep buying these for my truck.

...Great traction dry and wet, even light snow and ice...

I absolutely love these tires on my Chevy Suburban 2WD. Very quiet and very smooth ride. Great traction dry and wet, even light snow and ice. Nice smooth handling, never leak air. The sidewalls stay relatively clean compared to some other tires that seem to get more chalky and discolored that these, Michelin must use a higher grade of rubber. We always get a lot of miles on these tires, and they wear nice and even even though I only rotate the tires a couple times during their life. I seldom buy the same tire more that once, but this is the 3rd set of Michelin Defenders that we have bought for our Suburban vehicles over the years. I would buy another set next time I need tires.

...Very quiet ride and comfortable ride characteristics...

Much more stable than the Bridgestone tire that I bought the vehicle with. I love these Michelin Defenders. They grip the road nicely and are very responsive to driver inputs. Very good hydroplaning resistance. Haven't experienced them in the winter months yet, but my past experience with Michelin's have always been good in snow so I'm confident these will be too. Too soon to gauge wear as only 1400 miles so far. Very quiet ride and comfortable ride characteristics. So far, very pleased with my purchase.

...Tread wear is fine... I think I will try something else next time but based on tread wear, it will be a while.

10,000 miles on these tires of which 5,000 were towing a 6,400lb travel travel. Good control while towing. Quiet ride. Needs better steering response without the trailer - turn in feels sluggish during spirited driving. Grip is very good. Tread wear is fine. I wish pebble size stones did not get stuck in the treads so much. Seems like the perfect tread block gap to pickup these pebbles. The click, click, click with every rotation can be mildly annoying. I think I will try something else next time but based on tread wear, it will be a while.
