The ADVAN Sport V105 is Yokohama's Max Performance Summer tire
developed for the drivers of high-powered sports cars, sporty coupes and
performance sedans. Based on technology fostered through participation
in motorsports and development at the Nurburgring Circuit in Germany
(one of the world's most grueling race/test tracks), the ADVAN Sport
V105 combines an increase in agile handling with a more comfortable ride
when compared to its predecessor by featuring precision-tuned materials
and structures. Like all summer tires, the ADVAN Sport V105 is not
intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on
ice.
ADVAN Sport V105 tires mold a Microsilica and Orange Oil
enhanced tread compound that helps the tread rubber remain pliable to
improve tire adhesion and grip. The compound is molded into an
asymmetrical tread design in which wide outboard shoulder blocks and
circumferential ribs work together to promote dry traction and handling.
Variable width circumferential grooves and asymmetric lateral notches
help reduce noise and promote water flow through the footprint to resist
hydroplaning.
The tire's internal structure features two rigid
steel belts reinforced by spirally wound overlapping nylon across the
tread with three layers covering the belt edges in the shoulders to
combine high-speed durability and responsive handling. Yokohama's new
motorsports-inspired Matrix Body Ply Structure technology features a
rayon body ply that is angled in the sidewalls to maintain lateral
rigidity while reducing tire weight to deliver more agile handling and a
more comfortable ride.

Latest vs. Greatest Max Performance Summer Tires (04:59)
Max Performance tires deliver an unsurpassed blend of dry/wet traction and handling for the street via high-tech materials and advanced manufacturing. They aren't hampered by the inherent compromises of an all-season tire. And unlike Extreme Performance tires, they have good road manners.
How do the newest compare to the top tires in the category?
Ratings highlight excellence in the Michelin Defender LTX M/S, with customers praising its outstanding treadwear (9-10 scores dominate) and long-lasting performance. Comfort receives high marks for a smooth, quiet ride, even on highways. Winter traction is consistently strong in snow and slush, though a few note reduced confidence on ice. Wet traction shines with excellent hydroplaning resistance and reliable grip in rain. Dry traction stands out as a top strength, with near-perfect scores for responsive handling and stability. Reviews emphasize its all-season versatility, with many customers highlighting it as a dependable choice for year-round driving. These tires perform amazing to prevent hydroplaning during heavy rain when streets are flooded. Excellent wet traction!...
These tires perform amazing to prevent hydroplaning during heavy rain when streets are flooded. Excellent wet traction! Very quiet, excellent dry handling, and tread lasts a long time.
I've used these tires on many skip trips. These are decent on snow but often slide on ice, so I'm getting the Michelin X-Ice Snow tires to swap out during the winter for better ice grip.
This is my favorite all terrain summer tire so far.

...The tires still perform great in dry and light rain conditions! I would not take them on the highway during a storm with this amount of wear but I am surprised that they seem to still be using the same soft rubber as they had with new tread...
This is the second early 2000 Diesel Ford Excursion 4x4 I have run the Michelin Defender LTX M/S on. My experience was the same on both. I gave this set of tires a perfect score. For comparison, prior to the Michelin, I ran Bridgestone AT Revo's on an F350 and Escalade. I feel the Michelin provides possibly double the miles for the same tread wear. Michelin conditions (2 sets), 50,000 miles Las Vegas with a percentage of gravel road use every day and deep sand weekly plus monthly cross country highway including percent with 10k trailer.. 10,000 miles Chicago winter including percent with 5k trailer. 70,000 miles in Phoenix over 48 months. Mix of highway and paved roads. Limited trailer miles. I have 82,500 on this set. They just made it past wear indicators. All wore perfectly even. The center tread is slightly better than the edges. The tires still perform great in dry and light rain conditions! I would not take them on the highway during a storm with this amount of wear but I am surprised that they seem to still be using the same soft rubber as they had with new tread. I expected the tire to transition to a hard rubber by this point. I am very impressed! Looking forward to Michelin outperforming this set of LTX M/S with the M/S2 design.

...Quiet, long lasting, amazing wet traction, even better dry traction and sublime snow traction...
These tires are the bomb. Quiet, long lasting, amazing wet traction, even better dry traction and sublime snow traction. You should buy these tires, they might be a little pricey, but I promise they’re worth it. You might be thinking “this guy only has 15,000 on this particular set of tires… how would he know anything about their longevity?” Well I had another set of these tires on a Silverado and they lasted close to 68,000 miles, and they were still fine I just traded the truck in.
Anyway, buy the tires.

...Great wet and dry performance, low noise, high comfort and long treadwear that remain consistent throughout the tire life...
These tires are so good for this vehicle, I must recommend them. Great wet and dry performance, low noise, high comfort and long treadwear that remain consistent throughout the tire life. Replaced two at 68,000 miles, many of which were towing a motorcycle trailer. Predictable in snow up to a few inches. A revelation compared to OEM Goodyears.

...The ride is outstanding and smooth as all reviews state...
I had the Nitto Grapplers on ym Tundra and although they are great for what they are intended for, and looked awesome, they were not practical for my intent and purposes, (yet). AFter MANY hours of reviewing, the overwhelming positive reviews on the Defenders were hard to ignore. They lack the aggresive look however have a presnce about them that says "Dont mess an". Looks aside, the defender are superior in road noise, a drastic difference imo compared to the nitto's. The ride is outstanding and smooth as all reviews state. I have not had a chance yet in testing in stormy weather but that is coming, (Florida summers). As for off road I wont be able to test any time soon, however come winter i plan on driving to our cabin in carolinas, Gravel and mountain roads with lt Snow is always encountered so update then. In meantime i highly recommend these tires for reliable and comfort.

Great truck and SUV tire choice. I have been using this tire for years, I have never been disappointed. Great tire, I have never gotten less the 70,000 miles out of any of the 5 sets of these that I have had. This tire is a great all around tire choice.

...Despite running massive amounts of camber in the rear with the 7000lb enclosed attached, tire wear has been extremely good...
Touaregs are sensitive to tire vibration and the old set was terrible with the Continentals flat spotting themselves from sitting all the time. Usage is mostly towing a 5000lb trailer, although also a bigger enclosed. Dry grip is pretty good but definitely lower than a normal all-season, but that's OK. Have never had issues in the rain and it's only slightly worse than my Golf on new X-Ice XI3s in the snow. No issues at all towing a car through NY in a snow storm at this nearly new tread depth. Despite running massive amounts of camber in the rear with the 7000lb enclosed attached, tire wear has been extremely good. Getting exactly what I wanted/expected from them.
