The Pilot Sport 3 is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed as Original Equipment for premium high-performance sports cars, coupes and sedans. Based on Michelin expertise from over a dozen consecutive Le Mans 24-Hour Race victories, the Pilot Sport 3 is an eco-friendly sport tire with Green X branded on its sidewalls to guarantee it offers one of the best energy efficiency levels on the market. The Pilot Sport 3 is designed to balance tread life, fuel efficiency and road gripping performance in dry and wet conditions. However, like all summer tires, they are not intended to be driven in near freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Pilot Sport 3 features Michelin's Green Power Compound to combine grip on wet surfaces with fuel savings and greater longevity. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design to enhance dry road response and cornering while Michelin's Anti Surf System combines an optimized profile and tread grooves to cut through puddles and standing water to resist hydroplaning and deliver shorter wet braking distances.

The tire's internal structure features Michelin's Programmed Distortion tire architecture that uses digital technology to enhance driving enjoyment and steering precision. Twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide are combined with a polyester casing to enhance ride quality and high-speed durability.

*Specific sizes featuring Green X Technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

I bought this tire to replace the horrible Bridgestone Potenza runflats that are the OEM for this car.
What I noticed initially was the abundant wet grip. These tires stick almost as well in the wet as my Bridgestones stuck in the dry. Driving here in Germany, especially on the Autobahn, wet grip is important as is the ability to push water out of hte way and keep from hydroplaning. The PS3 meets both needs in spades.
Dry grip is very good as well--also very communicative. Initial turn in is a bit off...takes the tire a bit more time than I would like to get settled into the turn, but once you feel it bite, you can start to dial in a bit more power and change steering very easily.
I am very curious to see what the treadwear will be on these. Due to the higher grip, I think I have been driving them a lot harder than my old run flats--definitely a more fun drive! Also, they are VERY smooth at speed. I have had them up at 155mph for extended periods and they never wander and are very stable. Road noise is very good as well.

...Here in Queensland Australia, we are in the middle of our worst wet season in recorded history with most of the state flooded. As a result I have had time to assess the wet weather capability of my Evo X on these PS3s. Wet braking, handling, and steering are hugely improved over both the Dunlop'SP Sport 600 and the Toyo Proxes'R1R I previously used on my car for both normal roadduties and spirited fast road driving...

These Michelin'Pilot Sport 3 are a perfect match for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. I write this because the Lancer Evolution X has during it's 4 generations, gained a reputation for it's ability to (almost!) defy the laws of physics.

The same can be said for the New Michelin'Pilot Sport 3!

"Unbelievable" is the best way to describe these summer performance tires!

Here in Queensland Australia, we are in the middle of our worst wet season in recorded history with most of the state flooded. As a result I have had time to assess the wet weather capability of my "Evo X" on these PS3s.

Wet braking, handling, and steering are hugely improved over both the Dunlop'SP Sport 600 and the Toyo Proxes'R1R I previously used on my car for both normal roadduties and spirited fast road driving.

The difference in NVH with these 97Y rated tires are noticeably improved over ANY other tire I have driven on in the past 20 years. They are not completely "silent", but one would be hard pressed to find another Max Performance tire with the same sound suppression quality, and therefore energy efficency offered by the Michelin'Pilot Sport 3.

I am yet to push these fantastic tires to their limit in the dry, but initial impressions so far are looking very promising as they are (in part) the successor to the venerable Michelin'Pilot Sport 2.

In conclusion I can honestly say that these tires transformed the handling, braking, and awesome steering response of my Lancer Evo X MR. That's a statement in itself!

They are well worth the asking price, as they have a 320 treadwear rating and should last longer than any current competitors, and in theory save on fuel costs.

Finally, I donot have any affiliation whatsoever with Michelin...

These tires perform better than any summer tire I've owned. Very quiet on the highway and outstanding in wet weather. Cornering is unbelievable and the feel is precise at higher speeds. Can't say much about treadwear yet, but these are definitley worth the money if performance is the goal.

I can't believe some of the reviews on this tire. You don't buy this tire for tread life or super quiet ride. You buy it for its dry handling. I had these on my Civic Si, and I could take 35mph off ramps at 60 mph with the car stuck to the road like glue. I did end up switching to Potenza Ultra High Performance all-season tires, because it was too cold in the winter for the Pilot Sports. The Potenza is a great tire, but still a compromise. The Pilot Sports were the best handling tires I ever drove, bar none.

With wicked fast engine and brake mods, I wanted a tire that would deliver the best summer performance possible. Let me tell ya folks, the PS3 stick to corners like they were buried under asphalt yet still manage to offer a quiet, comfortable ride. They track straight and true and don't hunt in the lanes surface cups. An issue seen with lesser tires. Tire life is to be seen but I expect then to match or surpass my last set of PS2 tires. Inexpensive no, but the best stuff seldom is.

...What a tire! i can take 30mph ramps at like 50mph! Grips like no tomorrow, even though its colder right now!...

This tire came stock on my 2012 ford focus titanium. What a tire! i can take 30mph ramps at like 50mph! Grips like no tomorrow, even though its colder right now! Doesn't do well when first starting cold, it WILL slip a little! Im a little disappointed in the tread life so far, with only having 7500 miles on the car, they have 6/32" left. (10/32" brand new). Im suspecting by mid-summer 2013 i will have to replace them. If the price is reasonable i will get these again.

I bought a 2014 Focus with a wheel/suspension package with this tire. I feel it offers good comfort as it isn't loud or overly firm. It also has helped to maintain the Focus's fuel mileage. I still manage better than 38mpg on the highway with this sized tire. Good job Michelin!

These tires may be the best ever made. The reason is that for such a low profile tire, the performance on wet and dry, the luxurious ride comfort, and low roll resistance is truly astounding. An added bonus is that these tires do not develop the normal flat spot thump that nearly all tires develop after sitting all night or even days. These tires were OEM on my new Audi S4 and I was amazed at their performance and the fact that Audi provided such a great high performance tire. I am getting 20 mpg city driving and am positive that much of this is due to the low roll resistance of the tires (not bad for a car rated 0-60 in 4.9 sec). When I let off the gas at 60mph the car will roll for nearly a mile on a flat surface - unbelievable. Athough the tires are expensive, the better gas milage may actually pay for the difference between the cost of these and the cost of lower quality equivalents.

...Going over bumps is smoother and quieter...

Bought this tire when it was first launched, as I wanted to compare it to the GoodYear F1 GSD3 that was currently on the car. This will be based on a comparison with GSD3.

First impression was that the side walls was softer. The tire grip was still there, but give me the lack of confidence as there will be a bit of under steer.

Comfort wise, it is better. Going over bumps is smoother and quieter. I guess michelin does this best.

In really wet conditions, it will still aquaplane more. The difference is definitely noticeable, but will still feel in control. Wet braking is good.

Overall, this tire sacrifices a bit of performance for comfort. But no doubt, this is one of the best tires in this price range!

...I'm so glad I went this way and with a 330 tread wear, they should last at least 20,000 which with my driving style is perfectly acceptable...

With 18,500 miles on OEM Pirelli P Zeros (on my '09 CLS550 with AMG Sport Package and factory performance package), I'd had enough wandering steering and generally rough ride. So I bit the dollar bullet and got these Michelin Pilot Sport 3s which I'm told were made for Mercedes and a few other makes. With only drive home miles from the mounting store, I can't believe how great these tires are. I'm so glad I went this way and with a 330 tread wear, they should last at least 20,000 which with my driving style is perfectly acceptable. SHH
