Tire is Available for Your Vehicle

Your 2007 Lexus RX400h came from the factory with more than one possible size. This tire may fit depending on the size you need.

The Pilot Super Sport is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire initially introduced as Original Equipment on several of the world's most sophisticated performance vehicles, including the exclusive, limited-edition Ferrari 599 GTO, Ferrari's fastest road car ever. Developed for drivers who care about how tire technology enhances their vehicle's performance and safety, Pilot Super Sport tires expand the Max Performance Summer tire performance envelope by delivering durability, handling and traction while increasing tread life.

Building on the development of racing tires designed to carry Prototype and GT class cars to endurance race victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring and Road Atlanta's Petit Lemans, Pilot Super Sport tires are designed to deliver consistent performance and longevity by blending Max Performance driving characteristics with extended tread wear.

While the importance of tire treadwear in endurance racing may not be immediately apparent, Michelin tires set records during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. One of the 2010 LMP Class leaders completed 46 consecutive laps on one set of tires with an average pace just 1% off of the pole position qualifying time. That's almost 400 racing miles on one set of tires at an average speed of 150 mph.

Additionally the overall winner used just 11 sets of tires to cover a record 3,362 miles, averaging nearly 140 mph and almost 300 racing miles per set of tires. That represented almost a 25% wear improvement compared to just one year earlier where the overall winner needed 14 sets of tires to cover 3,235 miles. By developing longer wearing racing tires without sacrificing performance, Michelin tires allowed the teams to run record race paces while converting some of the time previously spent changing tires in the pits into productive time covering more miles on the track.

While Pilot Super Sport tires are designed to allow sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans and supercars to achieve their full potential in dry and wet conditions, like all summer tires they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Pilot Super Sport features an asymmetric design molded of Michelin's Bi-Compound tread rubber featuring a Le Mans-inspired dry compound outboard side-by-side with their latest generation of wet compound inboard. The low-void outboard shoulder features a track-type compound to withstand the stresses of high performance cornering while the notched center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a compound designed for superior performance at very high speeds and in wet conditions.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound Twaron cord. Twaron is a polyamide cord that offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Michelin FAZ Technology (Filament At Zero degrees) winds the Twaron cord around the tire circumference much the same way fishing line is wound onto fishing reels to allow Michelin engineers to tune tension and strength. The Pilot Super Sport features a polyester casing to promote a comfortable ride and responsive handling.

Pilot Super Sport tires are comparatively light, with weight savings of up to 10% compared to other tires of similar dimensions. This reduces unsprung weight to improve handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results

The stand out feature of these tires in my mind is the wet weather performance. I signed up for a track day and it turned out to be a downpour. I almost canceled but I'm so glad i didn't. these tires inspired tons of confidence in the wet and i ended up moving around a bunch of much faster cars.

...These tires provide all around excellent performance and I cannot make them slide or squeal, even when pushing them quite hard!...

Expensive, but such an excellent tire. I run the same type on my 2003 SL500 (staggered) and love them…leading to me putting them on the E350 also. These tires provide all around excellent performance and I cannot make them slide or squeal, even when pushing them quite hard! Just a great product.

...Amazing on dry and wet surfaces, even the best of all tires I've installed on my car!...

The best sport tire you can find. Almost the same grip as the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup but with amazing performance on wet and especially on resistance to hydroplaning. This is by far the best tire I've put on my car and I am very demanding. Amazing on dry and wet surfaces, even the treadwear is the best of all tires I've installed on my car!
Highly recommended.

These Michelin's are far superior to my OE Goodyear's. The ride comfort is amazing and the road noise is much reduced. I can actually hear my engine! My car handles and tracks much better than with the OE tires. I didn't rate the treadwear because I've only had the tires for a short time. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for new tires for their vehicle.

Replaced my P-Zero after 4K militate.. Really cannot tolerate the noise and hard ride of the PZero... These Michelin PSS instantly improve ride qualify and comfort, because it is softer tires, when cornering on undulated road, it much more forgiving and hence better grip thru out. The wet weather condition is much improved. No aqua planning. I regularly cruising at highway speed exceed 180kph. On many occasions, PZero is unsafe on wet pouring rain, I often reduce my speed down to below 80kph and need to avoid puddles of water.

...I like how sharp the steering feels while maintaining a comfortable ride, a very impressive feat...

Now that I have 20,000 miles on these tires, I have experienced them through two full years of spirited driving through Pittsburgh's hilly roads and combined highway driving. I use my car mainly for a fun commute towork and the occasional track day when I have time (1-2 times per year). I do not have any experience driving these in snow but I have driven them in cold weather conditions below freezing. When I was looking for a tire to replace BF Goodrich Eagle summer tires (Not impressed with those tires), I wanted to find a tire that can combine sporty driving in dry and wet conditions, provide a semi-comfortable ride on my daily commute, can provide the responsive and sharp steering response while at the track and can provide at least 30,000 miles of tread life with my lead foot. It was a lot to ask so I figured if I get 75% of what I'm asking for it would be good enough. Well I can say this, this tire exceeded my expectations in most of the those categories, I like how sharp the steering feels while maintaining a comfortable ride, a very impressive feat. I cannot speak for the tread life getting me to 30,000 miles as I see that my rear tires are wearing considerably and may not get me to that goal with my driving style on the rear wheel drive M3 (I guess thats expected). My front tires have enough tread to likely last approx. 2 rear tire cycles so that probably gives you an idea of the wear on the tire without the heavy acceleration. There is lots to talk about these tires, so the reviews gave me the info I needed to make the right decision. Overall I summarize this tire as a good fit for sport oriented vehicles that are on the road for three season driving (except winter), it combines high cornering traction, steering confidence, good tread life with spirited driving even on the odd track day, confidence inspiring wet traction on rainy days and more. Can't speak highly enough of this tire for achieving these goals, I believe Michelin really raised the bar here

...For the performance capability of the tire, The treadwear is fantastic and I fully expect to get 30,000 miles out of a set of tires.

One of the best performance tires available and I wouldnt hesitate to take these onto a wet race course as the Wet traction is even more amazing to me than the dry traction. I replaced the OEM runflats with these and have never been happier! The traction - wet and dry - is significantly better than the OEMs! Road noise and ride comfort are extremely improved. Treadwear is noticeable - these are not 60,000 mile tires by any stretch of the imagination - but not objectionable given the grip, comfort, and respose they give. I ran these in an autocross - my first ever - and finished in the middle of my class on these tires. The car went where I intended it to and were very predictable.

I recommend these for any performance driving!
