Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Premier LTX is Michelin's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season light truck tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, sport utility vehicles, light-duty vans and pickup trucks looking for tires that deliver category-leading wet grip when new and when worn. And even when worn, Premier LTX tires are designed to stop shorter on wet roads than leading competitors' brand-new tires, as well as provide all-season traction on wintry roads, even in light snow.

The Premier LTX is a Michelin Total Performance tire that utilizes innovative technologies to bring multiple performances together. Combining stopping power, driving control, promised weather appropriateness and enhanced fuel efficiency, Michelin Total Performance tires reduce the influence of traditional trade-offs normally associated with tires. Michelin Total Performance is a promise of Michelin tire excellence.

Premier LTX tires use an extreme silica and sunflower oil enhanced tread compound to increase traction in wet and cold temperatures. This compound is molded into a light-truck-size-tuned symmetric tread design featuring a continuous center rib flanked by notched intermediate ribs and linked shoulder blocks to combine straight-line tracking with responsive dry-road handling. Michelin EverGrip Technology adds Expanding Rain Grooves around the tire's circumference and Emerging Grooves across its shoulders. As the tire wears, the Expanding Rain Grooves widen while Emerging Grooves open up across each shoulder block to help retain more traction in wet and wintry conditions.

Premier LTX tires marked "DT" feature an updated compound and additional molded tread depth to help improve wear life. These tires are identified in search results and on the Specs page, and "DT" is branded on the sidewall of the tire.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord on top of a polyester casing ply to blend handling and durability with ride uniformity and comfort.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Customers Say

Drivers consistently rate the Michelin Premier LTX highly for comfort, with many praising its smooth, quiet ride and scoring 9-10 in this category. However, treadwear scores show significant concerns, with frequent 0-3 ratings indicating rapid wear and disappointing tread life. Winter traction earns positive feedback for confident performance in snow (7-10 range), though ice traction scores dip to 3-5, suggesting limitations in extreme cold. Wet traction receives strong 8-10 ratings for reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance, while dry traction consistently impresses with 8-10 scores for responsive handling. Ideal for crossover/SUV drivers prioritizing comfort and all-season versatility, but those seeking long-term tread durability may find results mixed.

...3rd Party tests confirm the excellent wet performance, and I haven't had any issues which is the only way I can confirm the excellent wet traction they provide...

Huge improvement over the stock Bridgestone Ecopia's. Ride quality is worlds better. 3rd Party tests confirm the excellent wet performance, and I haven't had any issues which is the only way I can confirm the excellent wet traction they provide.

When you're buying, make sure you're buying the improved version which has a callout on the sidewall as "DT". These are the newer ones listed on Michelin's web page (part number is different too). I once found a comparison between this DT with the older one, and seems the dry traction was better on the new one.

I don't know how long they're going to last, and I honestly don't care. I will happily trade some longevity with more safety and comfort. In the end, these rubbers are the only thing that the vehicle and the road meet each other.

...They offer great traction, wet & dry. I'm amazed at how well they disperse water. I can barely detect puddles as I drive through them...

I bought these for my 2011 Toyota 4Runner Limited. It has 20 inch wheels that are only 7 inches wide (a bad decision by Toyota, but it is what it is) and this significantly limits the number of tires and tire brands one can safely choose from. Thankfully the Michelin Premier LTX's are now available in the 245/60/R20 size that fits the 4Runner Limited's 20x7 inch stock wheels. I'm 100% certain that these are the very best all-season tires one can buy in the 245/60/R20 size. If you are searching for tires for your 4Runner Limited with 7-inch wide rims, look no further! Yes, they cost more, but the safety and comfort are well worth the extra money. They'll also last a heck of a lot longer than the OEM Bridgestone Dueller H/T D684 II's that come with the 4Runner. The Premiere LTX's are the best tires I've ever owned. They are incredibly smooth and quiet. They offer great traction, wet & dry. I'm amazed at how well they disperse water. I can barely detect puddles as I drive through them. I'm hoping the snow performance is acceptable for an A/S tire and initial reviews suggest it will be. The only criticism I have is that I've noticed a slight drop in gas mileage. I'm fine with that considering all the benefits these tires yield. Assuming the tread life is satisfactory, I would definitely buy again!

P.S.) You will read about some people putting 275/55/R20's on their 20x7 inch 4Runner Limited wheels. Don't follow their advice; it's foolish. You need at least a 7.5 inch wheel for a 275/55/R20 tire. Although the wider 275/55/R20 tires look much nicer than the 245/60/R20 tires and they are easier to find at a local tire shop with a wider selection of tire brands to choose from, if there was ever an issue (accident, blowout, etc.) insurance could blame it on the non-compliant tire size (even if it wasn't the real cause). In addition, you are putting other people (passengers, pedestrians, other drivers) at risk.

As the winter season comes to an end, it is time for an update. These were actually surprisingly good in cold, snowy days. They actually gave me more confidence than I had expected of them. When comparing them to the previous set, which was a off/on road tire, they showed better starting, cornering and braking, is up to 2" of snow on the road. Compacted snow made the car work a little harder than normal, to gain speed, but, they kept very predictable and were driving at higher speed than traffic was going. Icy roads were handled with caution, and I found these Michelin to be giving me confidence in steering and stopping. All in all, a very good experience.

Let's see what next winter has in store for us.

...What surprised me most was light snow and ice traction: Shortly after getting these tires we had a light snow storm followed by freezing conditions, and I got around when others with 4WD and winter tires were stuck on our hilly street...

It's almost time for new tires, and I will be replacing my current Premier LTX's with another set. I live in the Sierra Nevada, hence most of my driving is on winding roads in all sorts of weather. These tires have proven to be the best all-around for me. While the dry traction isn't as good as a high performance summer tire, it is superior to other all season tires I have had. Steering response is not race-tire sharp, but it is quite good, consistent and predictable making these tires enjoyable on mountain roads. Wet traction is top notch. What surprised me most was light snow and ice traction: Shortly after getting these tires we had a light snow storm followed by freezing conditions, and I got around when others with 4WD and winter tires were stuck on our hilly street. OK, part of that is probably due to the Mercedes "4Matic" system, but the tires have to be a big factor. Riding comfort and noise are also excellent.
The only disappointment has been tread life: Caveat, I had a rear alignment issue that I didn't notice which wiped out the outer tread bands on the rear tires before I woke up. The other two tires have enough tread I estimate they would have probably made it to 38 - 40,000 miles, but that is still short of the UTOQ rating expected tread life. On the other hand, it is similar to what I have experienced with other tires in this category. Bottom line, I have been happier with these tires than with competitors, I recommend them and I will be buying another set in the near future.

Customers rate the Michelin Premier LTX's dry traction highly, with most scores between 9-10. A few ratings in the 7-8 range suggest minor variability, but overall performance excels for intended use.

...The dry traction is great, but I expected a little bit more traction when going up my steep driveway, it tends to skid a little bit sometimes when there are branches on my driveway, but I still can drive up my driveway with ease, and much smoother than my previous tires...

These are great tires, only had 3500 miles on them, and they are the best tires I have ever had. The emphasis of these tires is wet traction, as well as short stopping distances, and much better compared to the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 that I had before, which are absolutely horrific. It delivers a comfortable ride as well as low tread noises. The dry traction is also great, but I expected a little bit more traction when going up my steep driveway, it tends to skid a little bit sometimes when there are branches on my driveway, but I still can drive up my driveway with ease, and much smoother than my previous tires. No major problems with these tires yet, but there are a couple of minor issues. One is going up my driveway when dry (no problem when wet for some reason), and also I personally don't like the softness of the tires. Yes, I know the Michelin people did that because they wanted to increase wet and light snow traction, but I find it really sticky which makes the cornering and nimble maneuvering not as responsive. Did not drive on snow yet, but will do an update this winter on these tires when going through snow.

Exceptional tires. Installed on my Euro-spec (and driven) Q5. Mixed driving on Autobahn and little European villages/towns. These have handled dry, unlimited speed highway and slow-go rainy and muddy village paths with equal aplomb. Routine and effortless comfort and handling at speeds in excess of 170km/hr. I have no info on snow/ice because I take these off to save them for 3 season driving.

I bought these based on TireRack reviews. We replaced a set of Yoko's we really liked. These are better. These might be the best tires I've ever purchased. They run quiet, they are GREAT on rainy highways at speed, and they're nice on dry pavement. I haven't driven off road with these and we haven't encountered snow yet, but so far so great. I am buying a second set for my other car. Massive wet traction upgrade and I expect same in snow/ice.
