The X-ICE SNOW SUV is Michelin's Light Truck/SUV Studless Ice & Snow winter tire developed for drivers of vans, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickups looking for confidence in winter's many different road conditions, throughout the life of the tire. Whether it's clear, cold winter roads; deep, heavy snow; or any icy condition in between, the X-ICE SNOW SUV is designed to deliver reassuring wintertime traction and stability.

The X-ICE SNOW SUV callouts

The FleX-Ice™ 2.0 compound of the X-ICE SNOW SUV utilizes inclusion technology, which generates micro-roughness on the tread surface, helping improve grip both in snow and on ice. The compound also contains a high silica content that ensures the tire maintains its flexibility, even in severe climates. This advanced compound is molded into a continuous V-Shape, directional tread pattern with increased groove widths compared to its predecessor, engineered to improve hydroplaning and slush performance, as well as increase the snow-to-snow traction needed for loose conditions. The X-ICE SNOW SUV's tread elements contain two types of full-depth sipes with complementary traction effects. Notched sipes provide numerous biting edges that help enhance traction in adverse conditions, along with variable thickness sipes that further aid traction while supporting the tread elements to maintain an efficient contact patch for control on packed snow and clear roads.

X-ICE SNOW SUV Light Truck/SUV Studless Ice & Snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Install Michelin X-ICE SNOW SUV tires in sets of four only.

Due to the traction capabilities of X-ICE SNOW SUV tires, Michelin recommends using them only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

...They are solid in the wet...

Fantastic tire! This is my third (3rd) set of Michelin X-Ice tires and they are fantastic. They are great in the deep snow. They are EXCELLENT in the light snow. They are as good as any other winter tire on the ice. They are solid in the wet. They are good enough in the dry. They last well if you drive reasonable. Highly recommend!

...They're also very good in wet...

Living in the steep hills of Vermont, we get to test lots of winter tires in ice, snow, rain, cold and dry, etc. on steep windy roads in various conditions. These are not super sporty tires in the dry such an H or V rated snow tire, but they're competent and grippy enough. They're also very good in wet. But in packed snow and ice, they are the best tires I've tried in 40 years of driving this stuff! The tur- in response is truly excellent, allowing me to generate mild oversteer even with AWD with a slight lift off throttle. They are stable and predictable in snow and ice, and when they do slide, it's easy to stay in control and guide the slide, allowing big confidence. They brake, accelerate and turn better in nice and packed snow than anything else I've tried. For a sportier car, I use H rated snows, but you give up a little grip in ice and snow. If you don't need a highly responsive tire in the dry for spirited driving, you can't go wrong with this tire. Would definitely buy again and again.

I have about 500 ft of gravel, which 300 ft is on a hill. Last year just before I purchased the tire from the Tire Rack, I started to drive up the snow cover driveway in 4 wheel drive with the stock tires that came with the truck. (7500 mi on the Tires) I got have way up the driveway when lost traction, and slid backwards down the driveway! Thankfully I kept the truck straight and didn’t hit anything. The driveway it lined with a lot of trees, scared me !!! The truck is a Beautiful 2019 GMC Sierra Denali Crew Cab in mint condition …

...On snow and ice, it has great traction, with predictable break-away limits and good braking performance...

Michelin X-Ice SUV is a reliable performer in all conditions. On the pavement, it is quiet and comfortable. Turn-in response is good for a snow-oriented tire. On snow and ice, it has great traction, with predictable break-away limits and good braking performance. There is a bit of wandering on deep slushy stuff, but it resists hydroplaning well. Wear has been negligible at 7500 miles, and it looks like they will go for another 1-2 seasons. Had Continental Winter Contacts before, and these don't have that glued down feeling, but they do have better turn-in, dry performance, and wear. I'd buy them again.

...Traction in the wet and dry is great hydroplaning is non existent at any speed and snow and ice traction is incredible...

I am a firm believer of a designated winter tire and on my cars I would choose a stud less snow tire over a performance winter tire, gladly give up handling for traction.
Now that I switched to a SUV with 20" wheels the choices were limited.
When I changed the original wheels with Pirelli's P zero performance summer only tires I immediately noticed the noise difference these runs so quietly compare to the almost new Pirelli's that I can't wait to replace them.
Traction in the wet and dry is great hydroplaning is non existent at any speed and snow and ice traction is incredible, drove my car through 2 feet of snow without any problems (once back on a treated road I had a balance problem due to the snow build up inside the wheel) but my car plowed through that snow without an issue.
On my cars (Audi A6 Quattro and S4) I usually had Bridgestone Blizzak, I honestly think these perform better.
The rubber is pretty soft and pliable so steering response suffers, don't need that when roads are slick.
When my wife's Audi Q5's Blizzaks DMV need replacing these Michelins are the tire of choice.
Not a big one for doing reviews or surveys, but these definitely deserve 10 stars on a 5 star scale

...The Michelins are quiet and good handling in dry and wet conditions!...

Very happy with our winter tires and wheels! The new wheels have a tad more offset than the stock wheels, but are still under the fenders! The Michelins are quiet and good handling in dry and wet conditions! Thinking they will do fine if we get some ice and snow this winter!

...It is a little noisy on dry roads.

I swap tires in summer and winter. All-season means not good for any season, IMO. This is a good snow tire up to 6" deep. It has good traction on ice. The steering response is a little slower than you would expect compared to summer tires, but that's not what I use this tire for. It is a little noisy on dry roads.

...I'm very happy with them, it feels very safe and comfortable on snowpacked, roads, can handle slushy icy roads, with proper handling, speed and considering a longer break distance...

I was driven this tires on a different car for about 40.000 miles in Wyoming/ Idaho /Utah area with all kind off road conditions during a long winter season. I had never an issue, feel very confident driving on wet, snow packed or icy roads. On icy roads speed is everything. Few times I experienced with this tires driving on icy roads break failure, longer break way, sliding and turning involuntary. But this doesn't stop me from choosing the Michelin over a different brand. I'm very happy with them, it feels very safe and comfortable on snowpacked, roads, can handle slushy icy roads, with proper handling, speed and considering a longer break distance. Would buy them again.

...They are quiet!!!! ( Quiet is very important to me and they might be quieter than my summer tires!)... these keep my family safe and meet my desire for comfortable, quiet highway driving as well...

I really like these tires. The tread is good and reasonably aggressive. They hold the snow packed roads well. They are quiet!!!! (Quiet is very important to me and they might be quieter than my summer tires!) I live in Vermont and am often on snow-covered dirt roads. A quality snow tire is a must and these keep my family safe and meet my desire for comfortable, quiet highway driving as well. This is the second pair I've owned (I owned a set with my last vehicle) and I know they last well. I will buy these again when these tires wear out or if I replace this car.

...I would also add that the tires do last a very long time. My last set lasted through 7 winter seasons and 2 Honda pilots...

This is my third set of Michelin X-ice tiers over 6 years, 3 vehicles and well over 150,000 miles. They are literally life savers. I have lost track of the number of times that having the Michelin x-ice tires have allowed me to to avoid an accident. I am able to successfully avoid other out of control vehicles spinning out and crashing into surrounding vehicles. At one point I found myself in the midst of a 100+ car highway pile up in Sheboygan Wisconsin and was able to avoid any contact with another vehicle as well as to safely proceed 40 miles home. If you live in an area that has snow and ice, do not hesitate to make the investment. I would also add that the tires do last a very long time. My last set lasted through 7 winter seasons and 2 Honda pilots. They perform equally excellent on my Volvo XC40. Get the peace of mind that comes with knowing your car will behave predictably in the most challenging conditions. I would recommend going with a tire and wheel package and working with a Tire rack Advisor to figure out what the tallest and narrowest wheel and tire combination is. That was a -2" setup for me. This means that my wheel is 2 inches smaller than the stock wheel and the tire is also more narrow. The narrow and tall tire will cut through the snow incredibly well. Be safe.

...If they hold up well I'll definitely buy them again.

Great tires! Live near Aspen, CO put them on a Land Rover Defender… Only have about a 1000 miles on them so far but have been very impressed. They’re light snow 3”-5” performance is fantastic… It goes wherever you point it… No slipping or sliding & no wheel spin whatsoever… Only had them in snow over 8” one time and they were great. Stopping on ice… No problem! I’ve had Blizzak’s before (different truck) and I believe these are even better. If they hold up well I’ll definitely buy them again.
