The VikingContact 7 is Continental's Studless Ice & Snow winter tire developed for drivers of sedans, crossovers, coupes and minivans looking for enhanced winter confidence through advanced technology. Designed to deliver excellent traction in wintertime slush, snow and ice plus reliable wet performance and secure dry-road handling, the VikingContact 7 is optimized for a variety of winter weather.
The specialized Nordic compound of the VikingContact 7 utilizes canola oil to remain flexible and adapt to snowy or icy conditions, and active grip silica enhances wet performance and braking. The compound is molded into an intelligent pattern with a groove network designed to create a direct path to evacuate water and slush from beneath the contact patch. The optimized void ratio ensures there is always a high volume of rubber on the road for confident tracking and high-speed control. Solid linkages and special interlocked block bridges stabilize the tread pattern while also keeping grooves open for water and slush drainage. The VikingContact 7's 3D sipes feature varying thicknesses. While all the sipes create biting edges for grip in slippery conditions, the wider sipes form snow pockets that collect snow from the surface and hold it in the pattern, creating snow-to-snow traction for improved performance. Grip Edges on the outside of the tread blocks grab into snow and effectively increase the contact area of the tire, further enhancing traction on snow- and ice-covered roads.
VikingContact 7 Studless Ice & Snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Owners report excellent dry traction with scores of 9-10, praising confident grip and responsive handling in summer conditions. Wet traction earns consistent 8-10 ratings, with strong hydroplaning resistance and reliable performance in rain. Comfort stands out for its smooth and quiet ride, backed by high marks for noise reduction. Treadwear receives widespread approval, with many noting long-lasting durability even under spirited driving. While a few lower scores in treadwear (5-7) suggest variability, most feedback aligns with the tire’s ultra-high-performance summer focus, emphasizing dry and wet capabilities as key strengths. Overall satisfaction highlights its suitability for drivers prioritizing summer-focused performance.

Great tire for the $-predictable in rain with good traction. Drove the Tail of the Dragon in TN in light drizzle on these tires-very satisfied as the car never slipped once. Quiet on hwy. Reasonable breakaway on dry riads-Dry traction as expected, not as good as a dedicated Summer tire-but I bought these as the “Winter” tire for the occasional driving vacation down south. Fairly slippery on snow but this is a Mustang not intended for that-made it through the local neighborhood though and it can be navigated with some care. Very happy with these. So far not showing wear at 5K.

...Very quiet (especially on a car with not much sound insulation), noticeably softer construction for a smooth ride (as well as being noticeably lighter), and great traction in dry and wet conditions...
Purchased these to replace Michelin Supersports on my daily driver and am very happy with the results. Very quiet (especially on a car with not much sound insulation), noticeably softer construction for a smooth ride (as well as being noticeably lighter), and great traction in dry and wet conditions. I am a very spirited driver that enjoys taking empty backroads or twisty on-ramps quite hard and am an experienced racer/trackday goer that is very nerdy about my tire selections. Overall, for a daily driven street car, these are as good as you'll ever need and also make for a very comfortable cruiser on the highway. Compared to the Supersports, they do not provide as much cornering grip and seem to flex a bit more (more sips along the outer edges compared to a semi-slick design on the Supersports) which equates to a little less feedback and feeling when really pushing them hard. However, I'm not fighting 1/2 second times when I'm driving for fun and most drivers are not experienced or skilled enough to notice the differences under heavy cornering loads. For my driving they are still good enough to give me a smile and not leave me wanting more. Can't comment on tire wear so far but that has never concerned me much; the car isn't driven much and they usually dry-rot before needing replacing.
Overall I am happy that I traded a little performance for comfort, as well as a bit cheaper than other comparable choices. When you rarely drive 80%+ of the car's capability, especially on a daily driver where you're cruising most of the time, then a tire like this makes more sense.

I drive in Southern California so I drive the majority of the miles on dry highway roads. The tires handle and respond very well...
I bought these tires to replace the OEM Michelins. These tires have 40K and 6mm of tread left. I rotate my tires regularly every 5K and the wear has been even on all the tires. The ride quality is pretty good and the noise level is more than acceptable. I drive in Southern California so I drive the majority of the miles on dry highway roads. The tires handle and respond very well. I will definitely buy another set, when these tires wear out.

...They are less prone to spin from a jump or aggressive cornering and lasted longer as a result. Very hard to break loose...
These are the best all around tire for my vehicle. I like them better then the michilen pss as they are a slightly softer compound 260 compared to 300. They are less prone to spin from a jump or aggressive cornering and lasted longer as a result. Very hard to break loose. The sidewalls are not as stiff which makes for a better ride but you loose a little in cornering stiffness as a result. First summer compound tire I will be purchasing again after over 4 years and 60,000 miles driven with the car. Noise is almost absent. And they perform from a jump or a roll with tenasions grip and corner very well. I truly love this tire.

...The P7's were instantly quieter and rolled over most road blemishes like they were not even there. I'm driving a little faster now, because of the handling is so superior and smooth.
Upgraded my OEM's with less than 20,000 miles on the OEM Bridgestones. The OEM's were horrible, noisy and you felt every seam or divot on the road. The P7's were instantly quieter and rolled over most road blemishes like they were not even there. I'm driving a little faster now, because of the handling is so superior and smooth. My mileage has improved when using the cruise control vs the OEM's. Very nice tires.

Sept 2018 bought the P7s and I have 47k on them. They measure about 5 or 6 with my gauge so that's pretty good wear. The old p7s went about 70K. I do 90% highway driving. They are starting to get noisy but I think all tires do after they wear. But new they are very quiet. Still i wish they were quiet until the bitter end.
They are still good for full speed in the rain on the highway even with 47K. Truly amazing tires. I think that's why people wreck in the rain. They have bad tires. Of course in dry they are phenomenal. PA hasn't gotten too much snow in the past year but I feel confident in a freshly fallen snow as long as you are going a reasonable speed. I regularly rotate them and check the pressure and that's important with any tire. Between these and conti extremes I get the one that's cheaper and im happy with both.

I have had these tires on my daily commuter car, a 2013 Nissan Leaf, for three years and just under 22,500 miles and love them. A Nissan Leaf is not a sports car, but being electric (meaning all of your torque is available from the moment you put your foot down on the accelerator) it does put some grind to the tires (even when on city streets and in traffic). These have held up very nicely. The tread wear is minimal giving the mileage. The tires are very quiet, which is very important given that road noise is about all I hear since the car is electric. They track well, give good grip starting and stopping, and do well in rain. I have only driven on them in very light snow and they did fine, but as a summer tire you wouldn't want to go out in real snow with them. Living in the Southeast means I don't have to worry about snow very often. Although not an "eco focused" tire, they seem to give slightly better range per charge than the OE tires that came with the car. Considering the price, these have been a great purchase. Since I put so few miles on every year, it will be a long time before I need new tires, but I would purchase these again.
