Pirelli pushes the performance envelope with the P6000. A totally innovative, freshly patented "new wave" tread design which incorporates an almost continuous, and therefore exceptionally stable, tread block running from the center to the shoulder of the tire, separated by elliptical water clearing channels running across the tread area. Born in CAD/CAM experiments, this unique tread design combines tread block stability with wet weather safety while minimizing noise generation. Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P6000, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
With the latest generation of silica based compounds, Pirelli technologists have solved the problem of mixing silica and black fillers with synthetic polymers to provide exceptional low rolling resistance and high wet grip.
The "unseen invention" of Pirelli, the P6000 casing has been specifically designed to reduce weight and to amplify the attributes of the new tread pattern and compound combination. Reduced unsprung masses, reduced rolling resistance, enhanced comfort and up to 186 mph (300 km/hr) performance in one technological package.

Owners report excellent dry traction with consistent 8-10 scores, highlighting confident handling and grip in summer conditions. Wet traction earns strong marks (7-9 range) for most drivers, though a few note reduced confidence in heavy rain. Comfort receives praise for responsive feel, but some mention harshness over rough surfaces. Treadwear shows mixed results-while a handful report satisfactory longevity, many express frustration with rapid wear, particularly under aggressive driving. As a high-performance summer tire, it delivers on core dry/wet capabilities, but buyers prioritizing extended tread life may find its durability disappointing compared to its traction strengths.

Replaced a set of Michelins with the P6000's amd found that the steering responsiveness was much better. My only gripe is that in the wet I tend to spin the tyres a bit but I can forgive that as the Audi 100 avant is not a a light car and a fair bit of power is being applied. Braking in the wet is excellent

...Initially, the Pirellis were great. I just could not beleive the amount of grip. Almost impossible to break loose... Good in the rain too.
I just replaced my OEM Pirelli P6000s with Goodyear F1 GS/D3s. My stock Pirellis had about 15,000 miles. Initially, the Pirellis were great. I just could not beleive the amount of grip. Almost impossible to break loose. And I drove them very hard. At very high speeds (up to 130 mph) the tires are quiet and very stable. Good in the rain too. I have snow tires, so never tried them in snow.
Tires went downhill after 10K miles or so. Noise became very bad, a very loud whooing sound especially worse at cruising speeds (65 mph), though it went away at higher speeds (80+). Ride felt much harder, with some vibration, and tires tramlined like crazy, following every unevenness in the road to the point of being dangerous.
Fortunately I havent had bubbling problems as others have reported. But the quick deterioration of these tires made me look elsewhere.

...They have very good grip, both in the dry and the wet, they have a firm comfortable feel to them, such that you always know what the tires are doing. These were the original tires that came on the car with the Sport package, and I love them. They have very good grip, both in the dry and the wet, they have a firm comfortable feel to them, such that you always know what the tires are doing. They're predictable at the limit, yet don't squeal loudly when you're about to pass that limit. I've taken them to the track twice nice and had no complaints, very perdictable on the high speed corners. And on top of that, they're very quiet and smooth on the road, both in the dry and wet. They're the best all around tires I've even owned.
Two little notes about them though.
1) They are useless in the snow. When I first got the car, the first week I had them there was still a little snow on the ground. I felt like I was on a sheet of ice. They are definitely not at all an All Season tire, but they don't pretend to be. Just wanted to warn you that they are very dangerous in the snow.
2) I track the mileage on each tank in all my cars, and I noticed recently that my mileage has been less than normal. I checked the tires and they were all around 30 psi. I pumped them back up to 45 psi this time (max is 51, so that leaves room for heat expansion) and suddenly my mileage shot back up. I'm now getting about 60 extra miles per tank. Morale of this: This tire seems to affect your mileage a lot when the pressure gets a little low more than most other tires. So I'm going to be checking my pressures once a month now.

...I corner on wet or dry roads much faster than any other tires I have ever owned. They also allow my car to stop on a dime; excellent grip.
This is my second set of these tires and I must say that thier preformance has always been excellent; I corner on wet or dry roads much faster than any oter tires I have ever owned. They also allow my car to stop on a dime; excellent grip. However they wear out twice as fast as any other tire I have owned.

...The rears wore down much faster than I anticipated...
Not the best tire for the money compared to others available. The rears wore down much faster than I anticipated. Two things that I find undesirable with this tire, the noise and tramlining. Even at low speeds (45mph) its noticable and more when turning. But the worse is tramlining, Ive tried various tire pressures but no matter what I do the car moves all over the road on any imperfection. Switching to Yokis AVS db2 this time.

...I have these on for 20k and need to replace them due to excessive tread wear and loud noise...
Terrible tires. I have these on for 20k and need to replace them due to excessive tread wear and loud noise. The ride comfort is terrible, like riding on cement. Plus, they dont track right. W/in 20k, I had to have 2-4wheel alignments on top of the tire/wheels balance. I thought these would be superior to the previous Conti Tour I had, but I was wrong.
Im going back to Michelin from now on.

Only have 12,000 miles on these tires and already tread wear is at 2/32", with average driving style?!?!? Would not pay for these tires again if they are going to wear that fast. In dry conditions they are excellent, with wet/snow conditions, they are like riding on sheets of bologna skin.
