The Pilot Super Sport is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire initially introduced as Original Equipment on several of the world's most sophisticated performance vehicles, including the exclusive, limited-edition Ferrari 599 GTO, Ferrari's fastest road car ever. Developed for drivers who care about how tire technology enhances their vehicle's performance and safety, Pilot Super Sport tires expand the Max Performance Summer tire performance envelope by delivering durability, handling and traction while increasing tread life.

Building on the development of racing tires designed to carry Prototype and GT class cars to endurance race victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring and Road Atlanta's Petit Lemans, Pilot Super Sport tires are designed to deliver consistent performance and longevity by blending Max Performance driving characteristics with extended tread wear.

While the importance of tire treadwear in endurance racing may not be immediately apparent, Michelin tires set records during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. One of the 2010 LMP Class leaders completed 46 consecutive laps on one set of tires with an average pace just 1% off of the pole position qualifying time. That's almost 400 racing miles on one set of tires at an average speed of 150 mph.

Additionally the overall winner used just 11 sets of tires to cover a record 3,362 miles, averaging nearly 140 mph and almost 300 racing miles per set of tires. That represented almost a 25% wear improvement compared to just one year earlier where the overall winner needed 14 sets of tires to cover 3,235 miles. By developing longer wearing racing tires without sacrificing performance, Michelin tires allowed the teams to run record race paces while converting some of the time previously spent changing tires in the pits into productive time covering more miles on the track.

While Pilot Super Sport tires are designed to allow sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans and supercars to achieve their full potential in dry and wet conditions, like all summer tires they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Pilot Super Sport features an asymmetric design molded of Michelin's Bi-Compound tread rubber featuring a Le Mans-inspired dry compound outboard side-by-side with their latest generation of wet compound inboard. The low-void outboard shoulder features a track-type compound to withstand the stresses of high performance cornering while the notched center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a compound designed for superior performance at very high speeds and in wet conditions.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound Twaron cord. Twaron is a polyamide cord that offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Michelin FAZ Technology (Filament At Zero degrees) winds the Twaron cord around the tire circumference much the same way fishing line is wound onto fishing reels to allow Michelin engineers to tune tension and strength. The Pilot Super Sport features a polyester casing to promote a comfortable ride and responsive handling.

Pilot Super Sport tires are comparatively light, with weight savings of up to 10% compared to other tires of similar dimensions. This reduces unsprung weight to improve handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results

Wet traction is great. Confident in rain. Quiet. Definitely a preferred tire for in climate weather short of switching to an actual snow tire.

...Quiet ride, great handling in all conditions, great traction in wet, light snow and deeper snow conditions...

These are great tires. After reading reviews and watching the Tire Track video review for SUVs, we purchased these tires aha have been thrilled. We had one of the worst winters here in NJ in over 10 years and the tires were true to the review. Quiet ride, great handling in all conditions, great traction in wet, light snow and deeper snow conditions. Highly recommend for SUV with AWD.

...Whether wet, dry or snowy, these tires are quite good...

I purchased these tires to replace the Bridgestone Alenza tires that came with the car. The OEM tires were nearly shot at 26,000 miles and were basically horrible to begin with. The 2023 Rogue is a comfortable riding CUV but is not particularly "tossable." The Pirelli tires have helped significantly in the handling department. Handling is far more secure and the CUV feels more planted while underway. Steering response is much better and the tires track nicely and now the CUV goes where you point it without any delay. Handling in curves is better but the soft suspension still gets in the way. On the road the tires ride quire smoothly and are fairly quiet over expansion joints. On certain surfaces there is a noticeable hum but that comes with the tread design. Whether wet, dry or snowy, these tires are quite good. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

...I could climb hills fine but couldn't steer or stop on flat or mild inclines, under power or coasting... Now the Jeep can handle pretty much whatever winter throws at it just like I expected. I can jam on the brakes going downhill in 6 inches of snow and the ABS slows quickly to a stop; hard turns in snow-covered parking lots, up and down snowy hills, no issues.

Buying Pirelli Scorpions kept me from getting rid of my 2022 Jeep. The Friday evening before I ordered these from Tire Rack, I had a hair-raising drive through wet snow storm dropping 6- to 8-inch in an hour on OEM Bridgestone tires. This was more a failure of those tires than anything. I could climb hills fine but couldn't steer or stop on flat or mild inclines, under power or coasting. Had Jeep check the ABS brakes out, no issues. Never had a Tahoe act this way. Anyway, I ordered the Scorpions after researching them at Tire Rack seeing the great test ratings and feedback.
I've been running them through their paces in the snow and rain ever since. Now the Jeep can handle pretty much whatever winter throws at it just like I expected. I can jam on the brakes going downhill in 6 inches of snow and the ABS slows quickly to a stop; hard turns in snow-covered parking lots, up and down snowy hills, no issues. Only once did I slip taking a bend in the snow on some ice. Still have the Jeep, don't worry about snow or rain anymore.

...This year, we had 2 feet of snow and icy roads due to sub zero temps for several weeks in a row. Had ZERO issues with traction... Drove through 6 inches of unplowed snow with no problems...

Had this tire for over 2 years on my 2015 BMW X5 with aftermarket rims. I live in New York City so the roads are not great after rough winters with plenty of snow. This year, we had 2 feet of snow and icy roads due to sub zero temps for several weeks in a row. Had ZERO issues with traction. The four wheel drive helps of course. And assuming you are completely flooring it in snow and ice, these tires are amazing for all-seasons. Drove through 6 inches of unplowed snow with no problems. In the rain, they are equally as great. My wheels are a little louder than most simply because of my aftermarket rims. But these tires are good with noise and would likely be much better if I went back to my 18s. Overall, I am very pleased. Perform like good summers and winters. Best all-seasons you can find.

This tire is very good in the snow, as I have driven in two separate storms in Upstate New York. They build confidence in slushy conditions and are fantastic on dry pavement. They are not noisy, and I recommend them for anyone not wanting to worry about swapping snow tires in the winter and all seasons in the summer.

I’m very pleased with the Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive. Ride comfort is excellent, with firm grip and sure handling. Today I revved up and slammed on the brakes on a completely iced-over parking lot, and the tires gripped well and brought the Q5 to a stop quickly, with no yawing or loss of control. Overall, I think the tires are as good as advertised.

Comfortable ride, grips the road well in snow, rain or dry conditions...

Comfortable ride , grips the road well in snow, rain or dry conditions. I've been driving 40+ years, many different types of vehicles, and varied weather conditions. My driving habits average, and mileage definitely above average. When buying tires, I've always looked for an expected level of safety, comfort and durability. I spent time researching various brands/tires that would seem a good fit for the 4-season road conditions I drive in. I found the information and ratings provided by Tire Rack very helpful. My purchase was handled very smooth and professionally and delivery was quick and as promised. I have purchased from you in the past as well. I will reach out to Tire Rack again in the future. Thank You

This is my first set of Pirelli's. I bought them because I thought they would work well on my '23 Tiguan with 4Motion. And they are awesome!! I've had them rotated twice and the treadwear still looks really good. It's nice to find a tire that you can be confident with when the weather gets bad. I live in west central Wisconsin and we get it all here! I'm not sure about 2 wheel drive with these but I have seen other non AWD with these on so they must do good as well.
