What brand of tires does Subaru use?
Subaru tires vary based on year, model, wheel size, and trim level. No matter your desired tire specifications, Tire Rack offers a wide selection from trusted brands including Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli, and BFGoodrich
What are the best tires for my Subaru?
Whether you’re commuting daily, tackling rain and snow, planning your next road trip, or looking for improved track performance, Tire Rack offer tires specifically designed for your Subaru, regional climate, and driving habits. For most Subaru SUVs, crossovers, and everyday drivers, all-season touring tires are reliable all-around performers, including longevity when considering tread life. If you regularly navigate gravel roads and light trails, a more durable all-terrain tire can add the traction needed to navigate unfinished roads, mud, and loose rocks. For drivers in regions that experience sustained cold, snow, or ice, dedicated winter tires are a smart seasonal option. For drivers of the WRX and BRZ, performance-focused tires like High Performance Summer Tires or Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires provide the advanced grip, cornering, and handling needed to turn in improved times on track days and in autocross events.
My AWD Subaru has a flat on just one tire, do I need to replace all four at once?
If your Subaru has just one flat tire that needs replacing, the key factor is how worn your other three tires are, because Subaru's AWD system is sensitive to mismatched tire diameters. Subaru recommends keeping all four tires within about 1/4 inch of each other in circumference, roughly a 2/32" difference in tread depth.
If your other three tires are nearly new, a single matching replacement is usually fine; if they're moderately or heavily worn, adding one brand-new tire can exceed that tolerance. In that case you have two options: replace all four tires, or shave the new tire down to match the tread depth of the existing three. Tire Rack offers tire shaving for $25–$35 per tire: a fraction of the cost of buying three additional tires. The smartest first step is to measure the tread depth on all four tires, which tells you definitively which situation you're in rather than guessing.
How long do Subaru tires last?
We suggest that Subaru tires generally last from 30,000-60,000 miles depending on your regional weather climate, driving style, and road conditions. If you drive the all-electric Solterra, it’s also important to note that EV tires commonly wear quicker than non-EV vehicles. Generally, it’s recommended to replace your Subaru tires every six years regardless of mileage.
