The Wintrac Pro is Vredestein's Performance Winter / Snow tire developed for drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans and high-powered crossovers and SUVs. Designed to provide confident control and maximum grip in cold, dry and wet conditions plus sure-footed traction in snow and on ice, the Wintrac Pro combines advanced technology with an attractive, Giugiaro-styled design.
The directional tread pattern of the Wintrac Pro is molded from a resin- and silica-enhanced compound that improves traction for increased handling and braking performance on wet, snow-covered and icy roads. Broad shoulders help maximize lateral grip and high-speed cornering in cold, dry and wet conditions. The footprint shape is engineered to provide direct response to steering inputs while also efficiently evacuating water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. High-angle sipes in the shoulders optimize handling in snowy or icy conditions, while horizontal sipes in the center of the tread enhance longitudinal traction for maximum braking and acceleration.
Wintrac Pro winter / snow tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

These set of Vredestein Wintrac Pro's grip through water easily, haven't tested in snow yet. Purchased and installed in Reno, NV, drove across country to Virginia, very quiet and comfortable ride. Tested in a recent rain storm and the tires maintained an excellent grip. Had one issue on I-64 at 60 mph, went through a deep puddle on a left turn and the left front tire lost grip for a very brief moment but didn't lose control. I might be able to test the snow capabilities next week in New York. Dry stability is excellent, very dependable cornering with no loss of traction at moderate speeds.

These tires were purchased in Dec and have seen several snow falls. 2000 miles have been put on them driving along the NorthEast Corridor. These are my first performance winter tires, but have used Bridgestone ws80 on a BRZ and Focus ST.
The Wintrac Pros handle well while also providing confidence in snow, rain and icy weather. The WRX STi does overpower the them easily in light snow when not "warmed up" but still remained composed. After a bit of driving the traction is noticeably better and i've yet to feel unsure during spirited drives. In unplowed snow they exhibit a bit of wandering if you try pushing them too hard or irresponsibly.
They have seen several 55+ degree temps and do not feel soft or gummy at these temps, unlike the bridgestone which feel uncomposed at any temp above 50.
Tread noise can't be heard in the cabin and the tires do not diminish the handling noticeably , regardless of temps.

Customers overwhelmingly rate the Vredestein Wintrac Pro's winter traction as excellent, with most scoring 9s and 10s for snow and deep snow grip. Ice traction also impresses, though a few ratings dip to 7-8, still reflecting strong cold-weather confidence.

...They perform well on dry snow, packed snow and slush. They track well. Come to a complete stop on a hill and they take right off...
I live at Lake Tahoe but I still put on some freeway miles so I looked around for the ideal combination of driving winter snow conditions and dry highway. I'm really glad I made this choice. I've driven them on dry, twisty two lane in the foothills and they corner very nicely. On open highway they ride quiet. They perform well on dry snow, packed snow and slush. They track well. Come to a complete stop on a hill and they take right off. These can be a year round tire and I would highly recommend it for those who travel city to high country frequently during winter.

...Roads were covered (probably about 2-3") when I went out in the morning for my commute and I couldn't believe how well these stuck to the ground. Driving carefully I never noticed any slipping at all. None. It was as if there was no snow on the ground at all...
Had very little information on these tires before purchasing them this fall to be prepared for winter. Had them on for about 10 days before any snow and first noticed that stoping distances were much longer than my regular tires—but that's to be expected. Surprised that they were not much nosier than my regular tires too. Then we got the 10" of snow last week so I could really try them out. Amazing traction. Roads were covered (probably about 2-3") when I went out in the morning for my commute and I couldn't believe how well these stuck to the ground. Driving carefully I never noticed any slipping at all. None. It was as if there was no snow on the ground at all. Took them to a totally empty mall parking lot to test them out a bit more aggressively and still was amazed. Saved a bunch of $$ from the usual brands that you see/hear so much about for winter tires. I'd buy these again without question.

...I usually only about top 10% in speed on Chicago highways, but in the winter with snow on the road, I was blowing by SUV's like they were driving on banana peels. These are certainly current state of the art for winter driving in a performance car and not bad in the dry/transitional temps. Litttle of the squishiness and terrible wet/dry performance you get with all out "snow tire" like Michelin X3's, but almost the ability even in deeper snow --my main limitation was ride height!...
Lived up to all expectations, which were high! Determined to make tires as good as the engine on this Tesla. After one winter, lost 1-2mm in front, 2-3 in rear. Happy camper, can't recommend highly enough. So cheap as to make MANDATORY that anyone that cares will rotate winter and summer in 4 season clime.

...Cold weather traction (wet and dry) is excellent and much better than the OEM Bridgestone all-seasons. My stopping distances are very good...
Purchased for use in Michigan winters with 2020 VW GTI. Lately, our winters have seen much more cold and wet than snow, so this tire is perfect. Cold weather traction (wet and dry) is excellent and much better than the OEM Bridgestone all-seasons. My stopping distances are very good. The only thing that's not great is deep snow traction, mostly because I bought pretty wide (45-series) tires and this is a low-clearance car. I'd say for most winter driving, this is an excellent performance tire at much lower cost than Blizzaks.

I found these tires to be very grippy with dry and wet pavement performance very similar to the OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx RTs. The tires were installed 06 Dec 21 and were removed 15 Mar 22 for 3,034 miles, mostly on dry or wet pavement. The tread lost was 2.5/32" on the rear tires and 3/32" on the front tires (out of 10/32" when new), so figure around 9000 miles (3 winters) before requiring replacement. Great traction on snow, though we didn't get all that much in the Pittsburgh, PA area last winter. Great performing tires that I will definitely get again the next time...

...Tire is also pretty comfortable and not terribly loud on the highway which is a plus!
So far, so good. This seems to be a very capable snow/ ice tire. Options were limited for the size of tire on our Range Rover Sport Autobiography. The all season were far from ready for the task of winter driving, the Vredestein’s have made it so that I am confident that we can go anywhere, any day, for the rest of the season. Wear is a big question with any snow and ice tire, this one will be no different as you can measure a change in tread depth with barely 1000 miles on them. Tire is also pretty comfortable and not terribly loud on the highway which is a plus!

...quiet they were compared to the Pilot Sports. It was an amazing and dramatic difference in road noise likely because of the softer rubber and sipes...
I took a chance and purchased these based on a lot of test data at Tirerack and other sites, and also because it's harder to find performance winter tires for my tire size. For example, Michellin Pilot Alpin or Goodyear winter performance tires weren't available in my size. I switched to these from Michellin Pilot Sport AS/3+ all season tires for winter driving as I go to the ski resorts often when there are snow storms, and many of the lots aren't plowed or can get pretty hairy especially on a heavy snow day. My first impression of these was how quiet they were compared to the Pilot Sports. It was an amazing and dramatic difference in road noise likely because of the softer rubber and sipes. The tires handle very well on dry pavement, cornering especially, and dry braking. For wet performance 45 degrees and below I really experienced no noticeable difference in performance, except possibly with braking or doing a fast start (just a tad more slippage). Wet cornering was great. Driving in slush/ice the tire did excellent, although thick slush proved challenging although probably would for any car. Where the tire really shines is snow and ice, where I had outstanding grip, cornering, and ability to stop/start without spinning out. Yes, there is some sacrifice for wet handling above 45 degrees, but in the winter those days are more rare and worth the sacrifice for having the grip in the mountain passes. For being a winter tire, it does exceedingly well on dry/wet pavement, and is very quiet. The two drawbacks I'd say are a decrease in handling feedback (softer rubber/sipes), and rolling resistance. If you live in a milder climate where you travel to snowy areas often this is a perfect tire that doesn't sacrifice performance.

...I am particularly impressed with the treadwear performance, and the dry performance of these tires...
Fantastic set of winter tires! I am particularly impressed with the treadwear performance, and the dry performance of these tires. They have better steering feel than the stock Michelin Primacy HPs that came on my BRZ. I was able to plow through all conditions we experienced here in Buffalo this past winter with ease, as well as many trips into Canada. Ride comfort was hardly a compromise, however road noise was a bit louder than I'd like. As far as snow tires go, though, they're pretty quiet. I am shocked at how well-rounded these tires are, especially compared to Continental VikingContact7s, Blizzaks, and General Altimax Arctic Ices, all of which I have tried. Blizzaks are more comfortable and quiet, but sacrifice dry performance. VikingContact7s are similarly well-rounded, but are slightly squishier. Generals are just as well-rounded, but are much harsher. When pushed in a corner, these tires deliver a very surprising amount of grip, and break traction in the dry very progressively. Hadn't heard of Vredestein tires before trying these, and I am absolutely sold.

With only 1200 miles, I've already driven through enough winter conditions with these tires, except for deep snow, to give an initial review. These are probably the best overall winter tire I've ever used, they easily handle light snow, slush, cold rain, temps down to 10F, but they don't give up when the temps move to around 60F. Very good traction overall, they let you know gradually when you're getting to their limits. Gone is the typical "squish" of dedicated studless ice and snow tires, especially when braking or during quick steering inputs. In most driving, these tires feel more like ultra-high performance all season tires. We've had some ice already, and combined with the AWD and manual transmission of the Golf R, these tires enable a very high degree of control. The excellent rolling smoothness and lack of impact harshness were pleasant surprises. There is some rumble and unusual sounds at certain speeds, but these are in the background, seldom heard and rarely felt. Compared against my experience with the PA4 Alpins (in a different car), the Wintrac Pro is a solid, excellent value with better than expected performance. I'd buy these tires again.
