The Kinergy GT is Hankook's Grand Touring All-Season tire originally developed for Original Equipment use on vehicles from Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen. It is designed to provide a quiet and comfortable driving experience combined with traction in all weather conditions, even light snow.

The Kinergy GT molds a silica-infused, all-season compound into a symmetric, five-rib tread pattern. The rigid center rib aids traction for acceleration and braking performance, and the high-modulus bead filler increases sidewall stiffness for responsive steering. The high-grip silica tread compound delivers wet traction, while wide lateral notches and four circumferential grooves evacuate water from beneath the contact patch for increased hydroplaning resistance. Multiple tread sipes feature chamfered edges to maximize contact area on slippery surfaces, providing confident all-season traction.

Internal construction of the Kinergy GT features two wide, steel belts with a full-width nylon reinforcement (in most sizes) for improved handling, durability and high-speed stability. A body casing made from polyester cord helps manage the trade-off between handling and comfort, while the strong, jointless bead wire enhances uniformity for a smoother ride.

Customers Say

User feedback reveals the Hankook Kinergy GT delivers strong dry traction (scores 8-10), with many praising its confident handling in dry conditions. However, comfort receives mixed reactions, with some noting excessive road noise and inconsistent ride smoothness. Treadwear is a frequent concern, with multiple reports of rapid wear even under moderate use. Winter traction shows limitations, particularly on ice (scores 0-4), though some find it adequate in light snow. Wet performance is generally acceptable for all-season use (scores 5-8), but hydroplaning resistance draws occasional criticism in heavy rain. Dry-road capability remains the standout feature for this grand touring tire.

...Yes, it doesn't have the responsiveness like a sport tire, and I was hesitated to throw it into corners in the beginning. However, after some yellow-light turning situations ( fast turning at light), their performance along with the sonata's actually impressed me much more than the feeling. I was anticipating some sliding, but it just holds the ground very well...

I don't know why so many people under-rate this tire. These are the original tires that came with my 17 sonata hybrid, and so far I have driven 15k miles on them. I'd have to say that I'm pretty impressed on its performance.
My driving style: most of the time I drive like what a hybrid should be, but I still drive faster than most of the cars on road.
My environment: living in south GA, we have super hot days, heavy rains, and hurricanes. But we rarely see any snow.

I have been using several different kinds of tires on different vehicles, from extreme performance summer tire/race tire to off-road All-Terrain tires. And I know that same good tire might not perform the same if they were put onto a different vehicle, such as the Pirelli P Zero that I had good experience with on my mustangs but don't perform as good on my wife's Ford Escape due to the excessive grip the tire has which upsets the suspension.
Given these being ECO focused tire (you have to keep that in mind), its performance actually exceeds my expectation. Yes, it doesn't have the responsiveness like a sport tire, and I was hesitated to throw it into corners in the beginning. However, after some yellow-light turning situations (fast turning at light), their performance along with the sonata's actually impressed me much more than the feeling. I was anticipating some sliding, but it just holds the ground very well. On loose surface tho, like getting onto country road from a small dirt road, the lateral grip is not as good as others. Don't have snow so cannot say anything. Wet traction not bad but has hydroplaning, not as bad as the gdyr F1 on my ST.
Although it doesn't give you too much feel, the ride comfort is awesome. Noise is okay, maybe on the louder side on interstates, but it could be the other noises are so low on the hybrid. Fuel economy is also good. I get near 40 mpg in city, given I drives faster than most others. Cannot comment on treadwear since I only have 15k, but still looks new now.

Tires down to 4/32 after 41.5k miles. On dry pavement the tires perform well. In snow they are okay - not great, but i didnt have any issues when driving carefully. Treadlife shorter than i was expecting, but not horrible.

These came on my 2020 Accord and I figured I would be good through the snow season... Well, 1st snow and I am sliding all over. Horrible traction and feels like a death trap. DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES! I have 12000 miles on a 70K mile rated tired and it is insane how bad they are.

These are the OE tires on my 2024 Honda Accord EX-L Hybrid. They're decently well behaved on dry roads but less so in the rain - I've had to slow down a bit more than I thought should be necessary to prevent hydroplaning. The ride quality and road noise levels could both be better for a Grand Touring tire, but they're not terrible. Where they really fall down is snow traction. These may be the worst tires for even light snow that I've encountered in 15+ years. Rounding a gentle curve at 10 MPH in well under an inch of wet snow, I may as well have been driving on solid ice. The car began to understeer, and the most gentle application of the brakes resulted in the ABS kicking in without much in the way of deceleration. The tires are also wearing such that they'll be down to 4/32" by around 20k miles, but the poor wear hardly matters - given my experience in the snow, they're getting replaced ASAP.

These tires came oem on my GLI and this is the second time I have had a car with these from factory. I am not exaggerating when I say that these are the most dangerous tires you could put on a car with a focus on performance. They are useless in the snow and any aggressiveness you need to merge or beat a light could be a traction loss if there is even a morning dew on the street. Stay the heck away and buy ANYTHING else. Preferably the Continental DWS06 or Michelins.

These are the OEM tires on my GLI and they just ruin the overall experience. They are very, very loud at any speed or on any highway above 50 mph! I have to to turn up the radio very loud to hear conversations. They also are very firm tire, so potholes reverberate throughout the entire car, even when I have the set up on "comfort". Hankook is also impossible to deal with. Their customer service was completely indifferent to my concerns or needs. I will NEVER willingly by Hankook tires based on this experience. Avoid this tire at all costs.

...For the last decade I have had nothing but sports cars with aggressive compound tires on them and these tires are by far and away the most noisy things I have ever driven on. Initially, I thought it might just be me, maybe I'm hyper sensitive...

I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry XLE and these were the original equipment tires that came on the car. The car and tires had 28,500 miles on them when I took delivery of it 3 days ago and, while they seem to have worn evenly and have plenty of life left, they are absolutely intolerable. For the last decade I have had nothing but sports cars with aggressive compound tires on them and these tires are by far and away the most noisy things I have ever driven on. Initially, I thought it might just be me, maybe I'm hyper sensitive. I come to Tire Rack to read reviews to find out it is rated 53rd out of 58 tires in the category and every single person reviewing it has said the same, or worse, about the tire. I cannot believe that Toyota would decide this is an appropriate tire for the country's best selling mid-size sedan. Maybe I could understand putting them on the L or the LE trim levels to help save customers a few dollars. But there is no way this should be the factory tire on an XLE with an MSRP of nearly $36,000. After some consideration, and the help of an active rebate from Michelin, I've purchased a set of Primacy Tour A/S's and feel like Hankook should be ashamed of themselves for this tire. I have spend nearly 2 decades working in environmental waste and it truly pains me to discard a perfectly usable set of tires, but these honestly deserve to be in the trash, because that's what they are. Hot. Garbage.

...Noise and comfort are only average during dry conditions...

OEM tires on our 2021 Honda CRV EXL. These Hankook Kinergy GT tires are not very good at all. Noise and comfort are only average during dry conditions. Wet traction is abysmal. At 15,000 miles and on the highway during a light rain, they repeatedly hydroplaned enough at 65 MPH to disengage the cruise control. At 21.000 miles they are almost down to the wear bars. We also picked up a small nail that is almost impossible to plug without an interior patch. I have plugged many tires but none so resistant to repair as this one.
Snow performance is below average.

Horrible Tires!!! Original to the car and rated at 60,000+ Tires are worn out at 22,000. Hankook will not rebate for tire failure. They sell for around $185ea new. Hankook should be ashamed as a company to provide such a horrible tire to consumers, not make good on it's bad performance and then expect people to buy from them again.
