Max Performance Summer run-flat tires provide temporary self-supporting run-flat mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph, even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. They are designed for serious driving enthusiasts who want a combination of a performance appearance, competent handling and Z-speed rated (or higher) durability with enhanced dry and wet traction. Often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on powerful sports cars, performance coupes and high performance sedans, Max Performance Summer run-flat tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Goodyear's warranty states: "Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty."

O.E. Max Performance Summer run-flat tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. run-flat tires' performance category and specifications.

NOTE: Run-flat tires are only recommended for vehicles that are originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.

Goodyear Reviews

Customers think the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 RunOnFlat delivers excellent dry traction (scores 9-10) and very good wet grip, aligning with its Max Performance Summer design. Most praise its confident cornering and responsive handling in dry conditions, while wet performance earns 7-8 ratings with occasional lower scores in heavy rain. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback-some find it acceptable for a performance tire, though others note firmness and road noise. Treadwear is a common concern, with many reporting faster-than-expected wear. Ideal for drivers prioritizing dry and wet traction over long-term durability in summer conditions.

...I haven't had any tire spin in wet conditions even when I try from a stop! But these are performance tires with a lot of rubber touching the ground so why would you expect outstanding wet traction!...

These tires came stock on my 2016 Camaro SS. I've read the other reviews and I have to disagree with the negative feedback on them. In my opinion, they stick very well in dry conditions and I haven't had any tire spin in wet conditions even when I try from a stop! But these are performance tires with a lot of rubber touching the ground so why would you expect outstanding wet traction! As far as ride quality goes, the car does ride rough especially over potholes and bumps. But I honestly don't know how much of that can be attributed to the car itself or the tires. I have always been satisfied with Goodyear tires in general and so far these have not disappointed either.

...This tire isn't made for wet/cold days, but have had no issues in the rain or cold with them and no issues out of them what so ever with my aggressive driving style... This tire is GREAT for a summer tire, and would drive 1,500 miles across country while raining on them...

Other reviews say these tires are horrible in cold/wet situations. This tire isn't made for wet/cold days, but have had no issues in the rain or cold with them and no issues out of them what so ever with my aggressive driving style. I have even gapped a few drag radial'd 5.0's on them from a dig. They hook great for a street tire/run flat.. I drive my car daily, and would put another set on but am going with drag radials. Cold/Wet, who cares? This tire is GREAT for a summer tire, and would drive 1,500 miles across country while raining on them. Great job Goodyear!

...wet traction. No hydroplaning but easy to spin the tires...

Mostly freeway driving with about a dozen of track days at Laguna Seca and Thunderhill. Got almost 30,000 miles on the original set of tires. Amazing tread life for the performance! Tread was definitely worn down but would have kept driving if it wasn't for a nail.
Dry grip is awesome. Fast warmup and don't get greasy even on >100F days at the track. Camaro SS has a lot of torque and coming out of corners I wish it had more rear tire grip. I tried ZL1 wheel setup with 305/30/20 Michelin Cup2, saw only a few seconds improvement in lap times. That goes to show how good daily driver runflat Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 really is.
Only complaint is wet traction. No hydroplaning but easy to spin the tires. For California where temperatures stay above freezing and rain is minimal these tires are awesome.

Customers rate the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's dry traction as excellent, with most scoring 9s and 10s. High marks highlight responsive grip and precise handling, aligning perfectly with its Max Performance Summer design for confident dry-road driving. A few 7-8 scores suggest minor variability, but overall performance impresses.

...Unbelievable grip on dry pavement when outdoor temp > 70°. Never slid under extreme acceleration, braking & cornering. Next-level perfection during summer performance, truely...

Just finished my second set of these in my 2018 Camaro 2SS (non-1LE).

The good: Unbelievable grip on dry pavement when outdoor temp > 70°. Never slid under extreme acceleration, braking & cornering. Next-level perfection during summer performance, truely. Extremely precise steering feel in my Camaro 2SS. Would absolutely buy again. Treadwear was great too, I got 20,000 miles & 6 track days out of these. Also had a prior set of these which got hit with a nail & the run-flat functionality brought great peace-of-mind.

The bad: Horrific wet grip, hydroplanes very easily. I remember having to drive snail-pace slow in the right-most lane whenever it rained any meaningful amount, it was embarrassing. Sometimes I just wouldn't drive. Hard as rocks beneath 70°. A punishing (and hurtful to the vehicle?) experience on imperfect roads.

Summary: They aren't kidding. During summer & under extreme track conditions, these tires kick -------. I'm running the stock wheels 245front/275rear and smoked people running roadcourses (Summit Point, Pocono, NJMP) with 305s or greater. BUT! outside of the racetrack and the height of summer, the drop-off in performance is very noticable. It hurts me knowing how incredible these are, and only getting to feel that peak performance for a short period of time each year. I live in SouthEast PA, and for 3 seasons, these just don't cut it in most standard driving situations.

I am generally happy with them EXCEPT the ride can be very harsh if the road surface isn't smooth... every encounter with a pothole, crack, or expansion joint makes my teeth clench with these tires...

I have front and rears and this review applies to both. This is my second set so I now have a combined 40K miles running these tires. I am generally happy with them EXCEPT the ride can be very harsh if the road surface isn't smooth. The roads around me are pretty well maintained but with my first set I had a small sidewall bubble appear after hitting a deep pothole on my driver's side front that didn't impact performance. When a second small bubble developed a year or two later after another harsh impact, a noticeable vibration developed at speeds above 60mph. That's when I replaced the set and they were near the end of their lives at that time anyway. I developed an very small, almost unnoticeable sidewall bubble on the passenger front of the new set just a few weeks after mounting but I don't notice vibration at any speed and the bubble isn't getting worse. This is all to say that I would not recommend these tires where roads aren't well maintained. They were a good option for me and the price was right at the time. I would consider the next generation at the right price, but would also give more consideration to a non runflat because every encounter with a pothole, crack, or expansion joint makes my teeth clench with these tires. I will add that I have not (fingers crossed) had a catastrophic sidewall failure in all my time with these tires.

Treadwear receives mixed scores, with many 0-6 ratings indicating disappointed customers. Reports of rapid wear, premature tread loss, and needing replacement early despite some 7-10 scores. Unimpressive for a Max Performance Summer tire.

...The tread ware has been bad. With only 2700 miles on the car the tire both front and rear are showing substantial signs of wear... I'll be lucky to get 6000 miles out of these...

Spirited driving but nothing crazy. Noticed that the tires were very loud from the day I picked up the car with a very annoying slapping noise over bumps. Almost sounded like the tires was flat. Driving in the rain on a hot 90F summer day was sketchy. Ran into the same situation on a cooler 55F day and it was down right scary. Grip goes away suddenly with these tires with no warning. One second you're stuck the next you're sideways with no warning. They make no noise at the limit before letting go.

Tread ware has been bad. With only 2700 miles on the car the tire both front and rear are showing substantial signs of wear. I've had the alignment checked but the dealer said everything is ok. I'll be lucky to get 6000 miles out of these.

There are much better tires on the market. Skip these and look elsewhere for pretty much anything..

...Customers report: "I have been driving with them almost 11,000 miles and they are already done."...

These are the worst tires i ever had. I have been driving with them almost 11,000 miles and they are already done. Please do not get these run flat tires. I do not know why bmw choose them. I rather own pirelli or michelin tires. At least they would not be loud as these. If you have 20 inch rims you should definetly not get run flats.

In addition to Highway and City driving I do use them for Track days, this was my second set of tires and the car only had 2900 miles at the time. Ideally I would use the Michelin S4's for the Track but as I am not independently wealthy they have to serve double duty and the Michelin's do not have run flats. My next set (which will be required on my next Track day) I will try out the Pirelli Zero Run flats.
