The Quatrac 5 is Vredestein's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, station wagons and crossover vehicles looking for confident performance in the dry and wet, plus premium light snow traction. The Quatrac 5 meets the industry's severe snow service requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol and, as an all-weather tire, is designed to be a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire.
The Quatrac 5 features a high-silica tread compound molded into a multiple condition-focused, asymmetric pattern. The outboard shoulder and circumferential groove are designed for traction, handling and steering precision in dry and wet conditions, with low void ratio and large, stiff tread blocks. The inboard rib and inside shoulder are tuned for confident performance in wet and wintry conditions, with wide, circumferential grooves and lateral notches to evacuate water and slush from the contact patch, along with high-density, winter-focused zigzag sipes that help deliver the traction needed to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Internal construction of the Quatrac 5 consists of a single-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement aids in handling performance and provides high-speed durability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Would recommend to anyone with a small wheel size looking for good grip in wet and snow as well as dry conditions.
Tires looked better than anything else available for stock 14" wheels for a Fiero. They definitely are meeting or exceeding my expectations. Would recommend to anyone with a small wheel size looking for good grip in wet and snow as well as dry conditions.

These are a great tire for the cost. Unfortunately, it did not snow last year to any extent, so I will have to wait for another month or two for those tests. Wet grip is substantially better than the General rt43 passenger car tires I had on there before, even when they were new. Dry grip and everything else seem comparable to or better. Controllable at or close to the limit in cornering and braking. I would buy them again. No real feel for wear yet as I do not drive this car too much.

The Vredestein Quatrac 5 delivers excellent winter grip, with most customers scoring snow and deep snow traction 8-10. Ice performance is strong (many 7-10 ratings), though a few note lower scores in severe ice conditions. Overall, it provides confident handling for all-season winter driving.

...They have functioned very well with no problems or complaints in all conditions, hot, dry, wet, icy, and snowy...
While I've used these tires only 3,000 miles in the past year they have been used on a variety of roads ranging from freeways to rocky camp trails. They have functioned very well with no problems or complaints in all conditions, hot, dry, wet, icy, and snowy. The sidewalls are stiffer than the Continentals I've previously used so there is better steering response. They tend to move around a lot on the grooved roads found on some Sierra Nevada freeways, which is not uncommon. My gas mileage has dropped roughly one mile per gallon but the tires are still fairly new. They do not lose air pressure as quickly as other tires I've used. Overall I'm very pleased with the tires and would not hesitate to purchase them again.

...Her previous (OEM brand) tires were unsatisfactory, especially in the snow and ice. I replaced them with these tires and she noted there was a very positive difference in control on snow/ice... these tires appear to perform admirably... They're a little bit "rougher" in the ride per her, but that is offset by the massive boost in winter control for her.
These actually went on my wife's Escape. Her previous (OEM brand) tires were unsatisfactory, especially in the snow and ice. I replaced them with these tires and she noted there was a very positive difference in control on snow/ice. We've also driven several thousand miles in various conditions (wet / dry - snow / ice - high heat) and these tires appear to perform admirably. Perfect? No. They're a little bit "rougher" in the ride per her, but that is offset by the massive boost in winter control for her.

...Switched from a set of awful Ohtsu tires to these, and the wet traction and dry handling is just about back to where it was when I was able to get premium sport/touring tires for this car...
There's not much out there in the way of 14" tires for a '97 VW Golf that are not designed to be cheap or save fuel. Switched from a set of awful Ohtsu tires to these, and the wet traction and dry handling is just about back to where it was when I was able to get premium sport/touring tires for this car. Can't speak to snow performance as this winter produced no snow, but of the current choices on the market, this is definitely the one I'd pick again.

Wanted a tire for year round driving on my car, it's a pleasure vehicle so I don't drive it a ton, but still enjoy going out in the snow. ...They are incredibly quiet, comfortable and make the car perform like it is intended... Also I live in a city where potholes are the norm and they can be barely felt in the cabin...
Honestly a good alternative for Michelin for classic cars with small rims. They are incredibly quiet, comfortable and make the car perform like it is intended. I drove my car today thru curvy mountains and it handled it like a champ. No squeaks, no roll, just glued to the pavement. Also I live in a city where potholes are the norm and they can be barely felt in the cabin. I don't know if this is because I own an older Mercedes or because the sidewall is pretty hefty, but you really do not feel anything wrong on the road.

Treadwear scores are overwhelmingly positive, with most customers awarding 9s and 10s for exceptional durability in all-season driving. High ratings emphasize long-lasting performance and even wear patterns, though a few lower scores indicate isolated concerns.

I bought these after two sets of Michelin tires wore out prematurely and so far, the tread wear seems to be wearing better than Michelin tires...
I can''''t recall what the new tread depth was, but I checked them today at 8,700 miles. The front tires are right at 7/32 and the rears are at 8/32. I have no complaints at all with these tires. The ride is smooth and there''''s no annoying noise that I can hear (nor my wife, who hears things I often don''''t hear).
I live in Durham, NC where we get all four seasons, but seldom see snow. I had these on light snow and don''''t recall any issues. I bought these after two sets of Michelin tires wore out prematurely and so far, the tread wear seems to be wearing better than Michelin tires. The price was good too.

...As to tread wear and others complaining, well this tire has a softness rating of 400. 40,000 miles is the warranty on the tire (at least for my size) and is standard for a 400 rated tire. If you are looking for longevity I would look elsewhere for a harder rubber...
My car was paralyzed from an inch of snow before these tires. My car is front wheel with turbo and plenty of torque so grip is usually an issue but not with the tires. They might be better in the rain than my car due to tire dimensions and car weight etc. The car wasn't good in rain before these tires. As to tread wear and others complaining, well this tire has a softness rating of 400. 40,000 miles is the warranty on the tire (at least for my size) and is standard for a 400 rated tire. If you are looking for longevity I would look elsewhere for a "harder" rubber. I have 60,000 miles because I'm on my second set and getting ready to buy my third before winter. I had a set of DWS Continental that lasted 15,000 miles with a rating of 560.

...Given the 45K tread life I wasn't expecting much. Now at 33K the winter weather handing is down a bit, not terrible...
Switched from MIch A/S to these. Given the 45K tread life I wasn't expecting much. Now at 33K the winter weather handing is down a bit, not terrible. The noise level is much higher than new. In general, they are pretty good substitutes for the price. The main issue for me was from the start they would not ride smoothly, as if unbalanced. They were rotated and re balanced but it didn't completely solve the issue. Eventually they settled, as if the tread needed to wear into what the vehicle wanted. They are wearing evenly so who knows. The mileage is comparable to the A/S, maybe slightly better with Quad. Overall, the A/S is better from my experience.
Let's look at the numbers between the two today: Mich A/S: $850 delivered, averaged 52K on two sets = 1.63 cents/mile VL Quad: $630 delivered, 40K (estimate on this set) = 1.56 cents/mile
There ya go, the Quads aren't really cheaper ($30 less) than the A/S looking at lifetime cost. You'll need to cough up the extra $220 upfront to play in Mich. The A/S is superior over tire lifetime. Most will be pleased with the Quads though.
