The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is Continental's Ultra High Performance All-Season tire developed for drivers of sports cars, sports coupes, performance sedans, SUVs and CUVs. Designed to improve upon key metrics compared to its predecessor, like braking in dry and wet, along with increased traction in snow and ice, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built to deliver skillful handling and high-speed capability with increased confidence for inclement weather, even in light snow.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus Callouts

Featuring an updated, performance-tuned all-season tread compound molded into an updated asymmetric tread design and utilizing SPORTPLUS+ Technology, the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS is built for enhanced handling and braking performance. Macro-Blocks and Chamfered block edges help improve ultimate dry road traction and provide increased cornering responsiveness. Generous high angle and circumferential grooves help evacuate water from the contact patch for increased hydroplaning resistance. 3D sipes help retain handling precision while increasing the number of biting edges for improved wet traction, while X-Sipes are utilized to improve lateral and longitudinal grip in inclement weather. Traction grooves within the circumferential channels further enhance winter weather traction by improving snow-to-snow traction.

ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS tires feature an Alignment Verification System to help identify vehicle misalignment concerns early in the tire's life before wear patterns form. The system also confirms suitability for different driving conditions through Tuned Performance Indicators. Tuned Performance Indicators are visible letters molded into the second rib from the outboard shoulder to alert drivers of the tire's performance levels. A visible "DWS" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions, as well as wet roads and snow. After the "S" has worn away, the remaining "DW" indicates the tire only has appropriate tread depth for dry and most wet road conditions. After the "W" and "S" have both worn away, the remaining "D" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions only.

The ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS incorporates a high strength, 2 ply sidewall construction for improved resistance to damage, along with a Sport Sidewall Insert for increased handling responsiveness. Continental's new high-strength, triple action, hybrid cap ply helps combine the positive attributes of a stiffer cord material for improved handling characteristics, while simultaneously retaining the benefits of a more flexible cord, helping maintain a smooth and quiet ride with an optimized contact patch for even wear and longer tread life.

...A couple field roads I drive during hunting season get some low wet and muddy spots. My stock tires would spin looking for traction, these tires pull me through without any issue. It was a very noticeable difference in traction.

I’ve had a great experience with these tires on my Tacoma. Keeping them rotated every 5k miles and running them at 34-35 PSI seems to have worked well. Pressures lower than that I noticed feathering on the outer lugs on all four tires. What little off pavement use I have on them has been positive. A couple field roads I drive during hunting season get some low wet and muddy spots. My stock tires would spin looking for traction, these tires pull me through without any issue. It was a very noticeable difference in traction.

...Wet(rain) and dry traction have been wonderful, and I don't drive my truck lightly...

Installed these tires at 5,000km, and currently have almost 14,000km on my truck. These tires have been absolutely amazing so far. Wet(rain) and dry traction have been wonderful, and I don't drive my truck lightly. As for the snow, we've only had a handful of snowfalls here in Toronto so far, and the tires have been alright. I definitely have to use 4wd as the tires do like to spin in the snow, even with very light throttle. I do carry about 400+lbs of weight in the back of the truck so that does help the back of the truck get some extra traction. But keep in mind these tires are all terrain tires, not dedicated snow tires, so there is a bit of a compromise there. I did have the tires siped a bit more and that definitely does seem to help with traction on the snow/ice, especially when braking. But lateral grip is still fair, again compared to dedicated winter tires, these act like m+s all season tires. All in all these tires absolutely amazing and you definitely won't regret buying them.
As for how it's wearing, so far everything seem alright. I will be doing a rotation in the spring, (around 10,000km of drive time) and see how they wear for another 10,000km.

My first set of Toyo's, plus my first Tacoma. Bought them for our winters that last from Nov-March. In the past 2 months, we've had slush, frozen sleet, ice, and 6" of wet snow. Plus I drove home on the interstate last week where I was in the fast lane, doing about 50mph, 4WD, passing everyone in 3"-4" of new falling snow. Did tremendously well, much like the DuraTracs I used to run on my Tundra. Love these tires, plus I don't hear road noise from them like most "snow" tires. Definitely recommend these!

After getting snow in southeast Texas I have tested every thing but mud/ sand. I love these tires in every way butt highway speed hydroplaning over 50mph it can get pretty bad. Don't know why I can
go 70mph in my passenger car. But I loose steering with theses tires at 50 mph

...I was especially impressed with their performance on slick Arizona rocks; I never had traction issues...

This is a fantastic all-around tire that is perfect for the person using their SUV or Truck as a daily driver and still wants solid offroad and winter performance. My only complaint is the relatively poor hydroplaning resistance of the tire whenever there is significant standing water on the road. Outside of that, I took these tires rock-crawling, overlanding, drove them through too many snow storms to count, and put lots of highway miles on them. They performed consistently and reliably in all other aspects. I was especially impressed with their performance on slick Arizona rocks; I never had traction issues. I would also rate them as very durable, at no point did they take any sidewall or lug damage. Even after 24k miles, I have only used 2 or 3 32nds of tread depth, so the tread life is extremely impressive for a winter compound AT tire.

...They gave absolutely amazing stopping power to the little truck and I had to basically make myself slide if I was going to slide from braking which was my biggest concern and they over exceeded my expectations greatly in that aspect...

Excellent tires I've taken them through maybe a little more than I should have a few times I have a locker and we made it up hill in bad mud, slush and snow with ZERO issues on our trip up to the Black hills in April. Honestly just as quiet on the highway which surprised me alot, they look very aggressive and that they wouldn't be so nimble and soft feeling to drive. They gave absolutely amazing stopping power to the little truck and I had to basically make myself slide of I was going to slide from braking which was my biggest concern and they over exceeded my expectations greatly in that aspect. Absolutely would recommend and I will be buying another set, if you drive a Crossover I would recommend the fallen wildpeak AT trails they are excellent for Crossovers but for EVERYONE ELSE these are the real deal.

I am pleasantly surprised that they are even quieter than my previous tires and the ride is so much smoother...

I replaced my 4 Michelin tires which had 40Kmiles even though the tread was still 5/32", within safe limits. But I wanted a better tire for the snowy weather here in Buffalo NY. These Toyo tires are much more aggressive in snow but I was worried that they would be noisy. I am pleasantly surprised that they are even quieter than my previous tires and the ride is so much smoother. Also I noticed easier cornering and steering in general. I love these new tires and looking forward to how they handle in the winter.

...My only complaint is that it's been 10k miles and the tires are already down to 9/32nds. Was hoping for better treadwear, considering I rotate often, but whatever.

Awesome tires for a Subie. People typically rave over the Falken Wildpeaks but I think these are a better option. Extremely capable and aggressive-looking, excellent traction in sand, snow and mud. My only complaint is that it's been 10k miles and the tires are already down to 9/32nds. Was hoping for a little better treadwear, considering I rotate often, but whatever.
