The Quatrac 5 is Vredestein's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, station wagons and crossover vehicles looking for confident performance in the dry and wet, plus premium light snow traction. The Quatrac 5 meets the industry's severe snow service requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol and, as an all-weather tire, is designed to be a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire.
The Quatrac 5 features a high-silica tread compound molded into a multiple condition-focused, asymmetric pattern. The outboard shoulder and circumferential groove are designed for traction, handling and steering precision in dry and wet conditions, with low void ratio and large, stiff tread blocks. The inboard rib and inside shoulder are tuned for confident performance in wet and wintry conditions, with wide, circumferential grooves and lateral notches to evacuate water and slush from the contact patch, along with high-density, winter-focused zigzag sipes that help deliver the traction needed to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Internal construction of the Quatrac 5 consists of a single-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement aids in handling performance and provides high-speed durability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Some drivers can be successful with a single tire solution for their year-round mobility needs. To see how three new three-peak mountain snowflake-branded tires perform and what, if any, tradeoffs come along with this enhanced snow traction, we did a Real World Road Ride and Performance Track Drive.
Will these premium Grand Touring All-Season tires be the way of the future?
Customer surveys indicate the Vredestein Quatrac 5 delivers excellent comfort with a smooth, quiet ride, earning consistent 8-10 scores for noise levels and cushioning. Treadwear receives positive feedback overall, though some note concerns about rapid wear in certain conditions. Winter traction stands out with strong 8-10 ratings for confident handling in snow and slush. Wet performance is praised for reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance, with most scores in the 8-10 range. Dry traction earns high marks for responsive handling and stability, aligning with its grand touring focus. While most categories show strong satisfaction, a minority report lower tread life expectations, suggesting variability in long-term use.

...Wet driving is fairly good concerning stopping and acceleration...
Decent tire, my batch was Hungarian made with recent production stamps. Tires look well made with decent tread. These have an inner and outer sidewall that is clearly marked on one side of the tire. Unfortunately my installer missed one, definitely check before you leave the installer. Tires ride fair to good with a touch of resonance at 65 even after re balance that was not present with previous tire. Good feedback on long turns and sharp turns. Wet driving is fairly good concerning stopping and acceleration. Satisfied but not ecstatic with this tire.

...Dry condition performance is quite good, as is wet pavement. I have never felt the vehicle hydroplane with these tires...
This is our first set of Vredesteins. We live in IA and have had two full sets of Blizzaks on two different FWD vehicles through the years. These Quatrac 5s have been a very acceptable year round tire on our 2012 Outback at 44 months and 20k miles. I am surprised to read about how many people think these are very noisy tires. It may be that the ambient noise level of the rear cabin area of the Outback is such that the tire noise just isn't as intrusive to us. Dry condition performance is quite good, as is wet pavement. I have never felt the vehicle hydroplane with these tires. Snow pack performance in reviews is what sealed the deal for this purchase. I have been very satisfied with their traction in both light and heavy snow conditions. Ice performance and firmly packed snow surface performance is more a function of ABS capability than anything else. In my opinion, the Quatrac 5s probably do as well as any other "three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol" all season tire on ice. Tire wear will be the final determining factor for purchasing again. They appear to have roughly 7-8/32" of tread left. These tires have been rotated f to r every 7.5k per Subaru recommendations. I don't think that they'll go to 40k miles before I replace them, but time will tell. I don't try to squeeze out every last mile on tires. These tires have a fairly soft tread compound, so ultimate wear characteristics will, understandably, be on the low side. That said, the overall performance of the tires at 20k miles would certainly have them at least being compared to another tire option when it comes time to replace. Would I buy them again? Yes, somewhere between probably and definitely.

...Driving about in pouring rain with occasional standing water, the Vredesteins tracked straight & true with zero hydroplaning...
I bought my 2-owner '04 BMW 325Ci convertible a few months ago from a caring owner (engineer) who treated it right. Unfortunately, at some point he had equipped the car with a mixed set of Kumhos (front) and made-in-Turkey Goodyears (rear). I say unfortunate, because those tires made my little Bimmer ride hard as a buckboard on rough pavement (which is just about everywhere these days). I thought the harsh ride might be caused by the sport package option (bigger 17" wheels, firmer suspension), but I wouldn't know for sure until taking a chance on a new set of Vredestein Quatrac 5's. I'm so glad I did.
Shipping from Tire Rack to a highly rated local installer took a quick 2 days; after the install this morning, I couldn't be happier. The difference with the Vredesteins is like night & day. There's a small bit of tradeoff in steering response, but the ride is so much more comfortable. Driving about 60 miles today in pouring rain with occasional standing water, the Vredesteins tracked straight & true with zero hydroplaning. The Quatrac 5's are a super value in a quality European-designed & manufactured tire - easily a win-win choice.

Customers praise the Quatrac 5's winter traction, with most scoring 9s and 10s in snow and deep snow. Ice performance is strong (7-8 range), though a few note occasional challenges on ice.

I live in southern MN and we just got hit with about 13" of snow in the last 2 days, My Kia drove like a beast through messy, snow covered streets, through all the sandy, salty slop, and over the icy roads. The hill I live at the top of, I never would've been able to drive up it last winter. Last winter, I had an awful time and couldn't drive it safely anywhere....changed out my old tires to these in November and I can drive right up that hill without thinking about it, and just about any where else with very little problems. My husbands' care struggles and slides around but not the Kia. I owe it all to the tires. They are just great!

These tires are very good in snow of all types: a dusting, inches of fresh snow, and packed snow. Keep in mind that these are not Bridgestones Blizzak WS-80's ( the best winter tires in my opinion) but they are better on snow than any other all-weather tire I have driven. If you push these tires on snow they will let go...
These Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires may be the best "all weather" tires I have owned. It may be the car, but traction is different cornering vs. accelerating. These tires corner superbly on both wet and dry pavement. It is like driving a slot car. I have pushed these tires hard in turns and they have yet to let go. Launching off the line the tires will skid a bit, even on dry pavement. This straight-line behavior seems to be only on hard acceleration as the tires grip very well in braking. But it is not every day that one needs to beat the kid in the rally-modified Honda Civic off the line to get past the utility vehicle up ahead.
ONE NOTE: I HAD TO PLUS SIZE FROM 205-65-16 TO 215-60-16 IN ORDER TO PURCHASE THESE FOR MY 2012 CAMRY. One wonders why Vredestein would not make a direct size replacement tire for one of the most driven cars on the road.
The Vredestein Quatrac 5 bears the Alpine symbol on its sidewall, so I did not swap summer for winter this season to test its capabilities. These tires are very good in snow of all types: a dusting, inches of fresh snow, and packed snow. Keep in mind that these are not Bridgestones Blizzak WS-80's (the best winter tires in my opinion) but they are better on snow than any other all-weather tire I have driven. If you push these tires on snow they will let go. You do have to push them though. And, performing a FWD reverse spin in a snow-covered parking lot is difficult because the tires grip so well. I really had to punch it to get the front end to swing around and the donut stopped immediately when I let off the accelerator.
I will continue to swap Blizzaks onto my wife's 2013 Camry each winter. However, my Continental Winter Contacts will stay in the garage for the rest of this winter. Maybe they won't be as good with 20,000 miles' wear on them next winter. If I can I will update this review at that time.

...The response is linear and there's good steering feel... Every month or so I autocross and I'm pleased with the grip and response...
Got these for a newly acquired '85 MR2. I wanted the stock size from wayback days. I'm very happy with them. The response is linear and there's good steering feel. Most of my driving is in Northern New Hampshire on two lanes. Every month or so I autocross and I'm pleased with the grip and response. Not unusual for someone to mention it would be good to get a bigger footprint, but I wanted the stock experience. And, I'm too lazy to buy bigger wheels and stickier tires and swap them around. I would be interested in a higher performance, stickier tire in the same size and wouldn't care about the wear. Not like I'm putting 10,000 miles on it each year. No idea about the performance in the wet. Previous owners worked hard to keep the MR2 out of the rain and I've try to do the same.

...After I had driven these new Vredesteins a few hundred miles, I started putting them through their paces and was absolutely stunned at the dry traction and polite warning behavior they exhibited at the limits...
These are the finest all-around daily driver on-road tires I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch since I got my learner's permit back in 1964. I spent many active years in the Kansas City Regional SCCA, and I still enjoy getting places swiftly and safely in my Jetta TDI Sportwagen. These tires replaced a set of major brand sticky compound summer performance tires that were great on dry pavement and absolutely awful on everything else and a set of snow tires that were good on snow and barely adequate on everything else. After I had driven these new Vredesteins a few hundred miles, I started putting them through their paces and was absolutely stunned at the dry traction and polite warning behavior they exhibited at the limits. The same held true for wet traction where some tires let go with little cornering force and virtually no warning. Kansas City winters offer plenty of everything, and when I got to drive these in light snow, deep snow, packed snow, and even in the occasional freezing rain ice storm, I was similarly impressed. Treadwear has been even and modest and it's only after 10,000 miles, nearly all in the hammer lane, that I'm considering my first front to rear rotation as the front tires are just beginning to show signs of some wear. I'm giving these tires 9s in the major performance categories only because I know an S-compound summer tire approaches a 10 in the dry, a tungsten studded rally tire approaches a 10 on glare ice, etc. etc. but what makes those 9 ratings so remarkable is that the same tire is earning them in every category road conditions can throw at them. Noise is low for such an open, aggressive tread design. Factor in their modest cost and these tires are almost in a class by themselves. My daughter's Kia Sportage and my wife's Kia Niro will be the next vehicles in our family to wear these magic shoes. These Vredesteins are the best daily driver tires I've ever owned.

...The ride is smooth, but not overly soft... The tires are remarkably quiet and there is little feedback from the road...
When I was looking for a new set of tires and wheels for my 2010 Subaru Forester, I knew that I really needed a tire that could perform well in 4 seasons. Living in the mid-atlantic, we don't get snow often, but when we do, it's a lot. My OEM Bridgestone Dueler H/L D687 was never great in any kind of wet weather and didn't corner really well either on wet or dry roads. The car simply underperformed for a SUV. After 19,000, the sidewalls were showing age and cracking. It was time for replacement.
In addition to the worn out tires, the steel wheels that came with plastic wheel covers were all rusted out, so I knew I needed a complete wheel package. Low and behold, Tire Rack to the rescue. I researched thinking I would probably end up buying a set of Michelin Premier LTX, since they are highly rated, but the one area where that tire is deficient is the tread wear. So, I did all of my reading and research and came across these Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires made in the Netherlands. Every review seemed too good to be true, but the price was over $30 less than the Michelins and the reviews were higher. So, I called Tire Rack and place an order for new wheels and tires.
After driving on them in less than ideal weather, I must say I am impressed. First off, the tires look great on the Forester. The tread is very aggressive and it looks like a tire made exclusively for a SUV. The ride is smooth, but not overly soft. The Forester drives like a totally new vehicle. In the rain, the car grips the road and you can drive in it with confidence knowing you aren't going to lose control sliding all over the place. The tires are remarkably quiet and there is little feedback from the road. Gas mileage is good and even though the tires are not advertised as being green, they are classified as green in Europe. The tires have the 3 peak mountain symbol which certifies that this tire can handle snowy conditions. I am looking forward to driving this vehicle again.

235/55R-18 Vredestein Quatrac 5 SL tyres offer a significantly more comfortable ride than prior Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season, as well as being quieter. Wear has been minimal and not noticeable, unlike my prior tyre. I have a greater sense of confidence driving in wet or snowy conditions - one of the major factors prompting my purchase so close to Christmas (Colorado Traction Law). Have not had any issues, gas mileage has not diminished, and I couldn't be happier with the value. A quality tyre at affordable price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend for your vehicle. I don't drive crazy, tough do like to enjoy a spirited driving experience.
