The AVID Ascend GT is Yokohama's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a refined ride and noise comfort combined with long life and confident all-season traction. The AVID Ascend GT is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.

Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend GT tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.

The asymmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend GT helps optimize grip in all weather conditions, and the tread profile is specifically engineered to create a stable contact patch for improved traction and wear. The tread pitch variation and Outside Adaptive Shoulder Blocks are designed with a focus on noise attenuation for a quiet driving experience. Four deep, circumferential grooves utilize asymmetric widths to aid standing water evacuation through the footprint, while the inside shoulder features open notches to allow water to pass through. Yokohama's TriBLEND Compound Technology all-season compound utilizes a low-Tg polymer and high silica content for grip in inclement weather, and the Triple 3-D Sipes and notched tread blocks create the biting edges needed for light snow traction.

Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A full nylon cover works with the square profile shape to help resist deflection under cornering loads for more controlled, predictable handling in dry and wet conditions while also providing high-speed capability.

...These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration... But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire...

My quest to find a great wet weather all-season tire is done! These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration. But they are also very good in the dry, with a very comfortable ride, and only moderate noise, primarily at highway speeds, but as good or better than most at lower speeds - very quiet (which is usually typical for a new set of tires anyway.) So far, I really like these tires, the price is very reasonable for this level of quality, they were delivered the next day, and a rebate was a nice bonus.
But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire. I would definitely buy again.

...The tires are smooth, quiet, handle great in the dry and the wet...

Trie Rack has a good selection of tires from multiple brands, ordering is quick and easy. The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires are very good tires. This is the third set we have purchased, one set on a 1986 Honda Accord Hybrid, another set on a 2013 Honda Civic Touring and now this set for a 2021 Mustang 2.3 High Performance Package. The tires are smooth, quiet, handle great in the dry and the wet. We went with the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT for the Mustang for better tread life, the factory tires were another manufacture but only lasted 20,000 miles due to the tread compound. The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires have never disappointed us and is a good tire.

...These tires have provided very good traction in the winter and on wet surfaces. Braking is equally as good...

20,000 mostly highway miles bolted on to a full size Chevy Impala after on year. Live on dirt road in MN so needed traction but good tire wear needed as well for highway miles. These tires have performed very well! Treat depth is at 8.5 so right on schedule for 65K expectancy. These tires have provided very good traction in the winter and on wet surfaces. Braking is equally as good. Tires may be getting a little louder on the highway but not too bad. Treadwear is even on all 4 tires. They get rotated every oil change at around 7000 mile mark. Tire is performing as advertised. Very happy!

...I beat the -------- out of these tires, going like 60-70 around tight curves, accelerating quickly, stopping kind of hard in some instances etc and in dry/warm environments this tire really is a true blue...

For a tire in my particular situation - there aren't just a ton of good options for my 2015 Honda Fit - this, I have found to be the best of the best. I beat the -------- out of these tires, going like 60-70 around tight curves, accelerating quickly, stopping kind of hard in some instances etc and in dry/warm environments this tire really is a true blue.

So far as winter driving is concerned, I have truly driven through all different types of winter weather - rainy/icy, cold/blowing/dry, light snow, heavy snow and I trust these tires in those conditions as well. Obviously it's a Honda Fit - there will never really be a snowy day that I don't kind of dread driving in, in that car. However, out of all the different kind of tires I've driven in three different Fits, these are still the best. (*out of approximately 4-5 different tires).

In no category do these tires, I think, really earn a perfect 10 - but even so, I still think that out of the field of options for my particular car they still deserve a top rating and while there are a few that are actually a lot more expensive, they also get that expensive by way of having features that are totally inappropriate for the car e.g. V speed rating. Can I top out over the H rating? I guess - I would sincerely not recommend that in a Honda Fit to be honest.

I have some sort of Falken on there now for 2 of the tires after a sidewall hole left me stranded and I had no choices available except that tire. That was honestly one of the worst days of ownership I've had on this current vehicle. Every time I rotate them, I'm reminded - I have 2 good tires and 2 mid tires on my car. While normally fairly frugal, I really cannot wait until the day I get to replace all 4 with brand new set of these instead. Highly recommend (For a Honda Fit).

...traction for days with these, dry or wet. Significantly better steering also over previous (Hankook)...

These have significantly smoothed out the smaller bumps and cracks of city streets and interstates, and have made the car handle better over the big ones, even running the pressure a bit high for the vehicle to get better handling (34fr/33rr). And traction for days with these, dry or wet. Significantly better steering also over previous (Hankook). Only negative, which it probably won't be for everyone, is that the design of the tread where it meets the sidewall makes it not the most attractive tire on a car. I noticed it in the pictures but didn't think it would show so much when mounted. They do have this very visible x-like pattern near the sidewall. Small complaint though considering the performance on even an old vehicle.

These replaced a set of W speed rated tires that were noisy and rough riding, with a dangerously high road force rating in the 40s.

Comfort is very nice considering the tire is extra load and a 45 profile. The tire rounds off bumps well and does have an undesired spring back that most touring tires give back over bumps. The noise level is tolerable, but they are more communicative of differences in tread gradient over 60 mph. Under 55 these tires are pretty much silent on the road.

They corner well and feel like they have a varied spring rate where they are comfortable and composed over bumps while being solid and flat in corners. The Corolla is very light and prone to hydroplaning, but these grip very well in the various types of rain I’ve experienced so far.

They are already returning 3-4 mpg on average better per tank than the previous tires. They have low rolling resistance and it took me a minute to get used to compared to the prior “performance” set. I expect the tires to give even better fuel mileage as they wear in along with a nice even tread wear.

The steering feel is well communicated, despite some slight delay on initial input. It most likely is just a flaw in the electric steering, but they do communicate will through the wheel with a light input feel. They make my frequent long trips of 200 plus miles at a crack much less of a pain. Definitely a better option over the recommend performance tires for the Corolla with the 17 inch wheel.

Very comfortable and quiet with descent performance in the dry, wet and cold. Great touring tires on the highway.
These are only used as my non winter "summer" tires, so no experience in extreme winter weather.
Treadwear looks good so far (4k miles) and will likely purchase again.

This is my second set of these tires. First set lasted just over 60,000 miles. Excellent ride with little or no road noise but have to say the strongest points of these tires is durability and traction in all degrees of rain fall. Cost a bit more than other available options but well worth it.

I love this tire. It’s like magic; the tread lasts forever! The only reason I purchase new tires is when they show signs of dry rot. My car sits on stone outside in the Carolina sun which is the reason for the dry rot. Otherwise, I think they would be immortal! Thank you for the opportunity to leave a review.
