The AVID Ascend GT is Yokohama's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a refined ride and noise comfort combined with long life and confident all-season traction. The AVID Ascend GT is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.

Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend GT tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.

The asymmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend GT helps optimize grip in all weather conditions, and the tread profile is specifically engineered to create a stable contact patch for improved traction and wear. The tread pitch variation and Outside Adaptive Shoulder Blocks are designed with a focus on noise attenuation for a quiet driving experience. Four deep, circumferential grooves utilize asymmetric widths to aid standing water evacuation through the footprint, while the inside shoulder features open notches to allow water to pass through. Yokohama's TriBLEND Compound Technology all-season compound utilizes a low-Tg polymer and high silica content for grip in inclement weather, and the Triple 3-D Sipes and notched tread blocks create the biting edges needed for light snow traction.

Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A full nylon cover works with the square profile shape to help resist deflection under cornering loads for more controlled, predictable handling in dry and wet conditions while also providing high-speed capability.

...These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration... But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire...

My quest to find a great wet weather all-season tire is done! These are fantastic in the wet, and that was my primary consideration. But they are also very good in the dry, with a very comfortable ride, and only moderate noise, primarily at highway speeds, but as good or better than most at lower speeds - very quiet (which is usually typical for a new set of tires anyway.) So far, I really like these tires, the price is very reasonable for this level of quality, they were delivered the next day, and a rebate was a nice bonus.
But mainly, I love the wet traction and performance in the rain! Best I've ever found in an all-season tire. I would definitely buy again.

...Wet traction is superb, dry excellent as well. Confidence tires, simply. I'm not a tire engineer, but it's cool to look closely at the tread design - clearly made for rapid water evacuation while maintaining excellent road contact.

Do read Tire Racks Test Track reviews, folks, they were spot on this tire, I suspect they are on most. The Yokohomas are nearly a bargain at the price. Wet traction is superb, dry excellent as well. Confidence tires, simply. I'm not a tire engineer, but it's cool to look closely at the tread design - clearly made for rapid water evacuation while maintaining excellent road contact. I didn't wish to pay substantially more for Michelins, nor downgrade to something of lower quality. Only negative is that ride is a bit too firm for my tastes - so I just inflate at one or two PSI lower.

Drive safe and happy, everyone, especially now !

...The tires are smooth, quiet, handle great in the dry and the wet...

Trie Rack has a good selection of tires from multiple brands, ordering is quick and easy. The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires are very good tires. This is the third set we have purchased, one set on a 1986 Honda Accord Hybrid, another set on a 2013 Honda Civic Touring and now this set for a 2021 Mustang 2.3 High Performance Package. The tires are smooth, quiet, handle great in the dry and the wet. We went with the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT for the Mustang for better tread life, the factory tires were another manufacture but only lasted 20,000 miles due to the tread compound. The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires have never disappointed us and is a good tire.

The day after getting these on my car we got 5" of snow in the area and these tires performed very well. No issues whatsoever and traction was pretty good. Snow has since cleared and things are dry again and these tires are great on the pavement. I have given them some abuse and they stick very well. Only down side I have found is on newer asphalt there is a slight whine from them but very low and easily ignored with the music on in your car.

I am very impressed with this tire in the rain and the snow. I've pushed this tire in the rain and the hold is great. I just went through the 1st snow storm and they had excellent grip and control. On dry pavement, there is a little noise at highway speeds but nothing offensive. I am very happy with this tire and highly recommend it.

I bought these Yokohama tires to replace the factory Bridgestone tires. The original tires could be heard when driving and could fatigue me on long drives. The new Yokohama tires are practically silent. I've driven them now in hard rain, snow, freezing rain, and both in cold (27F) and warm (62F) conditions. They seem to be great wherever I point them. They've handled (1500 miles) everything well. Longest trip was 600 miles round trip from Maryland (rain) to New Jersey 3 inches of snow). No problems.

The one concern I had was gas mileage. My Prius C with the original tires got around 48 to 52 miles per gallon consistently. I'm pleased to say that the Yokohama tires are doing about the same gas mileage.

...The car handles very well with these tires and has a very good feel to the steering. They are in all regards superior to the 741's that came on the vehicle when new...

After reading many reviews I picked these tires based on handling which was important to me. Also, wet traction was a very high priority as our previous Firestone's were very poor in this regard. On a wet road it was very common for the Firestone 741's to lose traction on take off. I have never been able to make these Yokohama tires slip on a wet road take off no matter how hard I have tried.
The car handles very well with these tires and has a very good feel to the steering. They are in all regards superior to the 741's that came on the vehicle when new.
Some have complained of excessive noise from these tires. I have not experienced this at all. Of course these are on a Honda Fit which is not a super quiet car to begin with so its not an issue for me at all.
My priories were wet traction and general handling and this tire shines in both. I can not speak for snow performance yet but considering their excellent performance on wet roads I would expect them to do fine on the few light snows we get in our area.
Considering handling, traction and "feel" my little Fit drives like a sports car with these tires. Over all I am very well pleased with the tires and will likely put them on my Acura RDX when it needs new tires.

...These tires can handle New England winters: snow traction is decent, dry traction is good and wet traction is outstanding...

Vastly exceeded my expectations. I had Yokohamas years ago (different car) and I was unimpressed. This set, on the other hand, is right up there with the best Pirelli and Michelin tires I have had in the past. The ride is quiet and supple on all but the nastiest winter potholes, steering response is good. These tires can handle New England winters: snow traction is decent, dry traction is good and and wet traction is outstanding. Overall, at least on my Volvo s60, they are performing better than the tires I had before (Goodyear Assurance Comfortred and Altimax RT-43). After 12k miles, they drive better than new, noise level has not increased and I can barely notice any wear at all. We'll see how long they last...

The tire is super comfort with great driving experience. It is quieter/more comfortable/better turning experience than my previous OEM GoodYear Fuel Max. I wished I had replaced the OEM tire earlier. It is on the comfort side but it is also great in driving situations such as braking distance, turning and lane switching. I had only being able to drive in dry highway situations. I would prefer this tire in my future installation. It fills the hype(that failed) on Continental TrueContact Tour 54 tire on the tire replacement on another car earlier this year.

Tires are wearing great, just had first rotation and still look fairly new. Still can't get over the wet traction, they were a huge improvement over my previous tires. Have just seen some light snow so far and traction was great there also. Tires are still very quiet and comfortable and expect them to stay that way for a long time. These tires hit all the points for a grand touring all-season tire and I would recommend them to my friends anytime.

...Six months and about 5,000 miles later I checked the tread depth and it's just about like brand new...

After a lot of research I bought a set of Yokohama Ascend GT for my A6 2.0T Quattro. Six months and about 5,000 miles later I checked the tread depth and it's just about like brand new. The tires handle very well in just about every circumstance. How do they handle on ICE? Really, unless you have studs in your tires, nothing handles on ice. Downside is the noise. These tires replaced the OEM Pirelli at about 30,000 miles. I really wanted the Yokohama's to be quiet, but they're not. I'm not saying they are screaming loud, but their louder than the 30,000 miles Pirelli. On a smooth, dry road at 55+ mph they're a bit whiny.
