The AVID Ascend LX is Yokohama's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a quiet ride and confident wet performance combined with dependable winter traction and long tread life. The AVID Ascend LX is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in light snow.
Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend LX tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.
The symmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend LX features an offset design and a five-block pitch sequence to help reduce pattern and road noise for a comfortable, quiet ride. The tread is molded from Yokohama's L-2 all-season compound that features a unique polymer blend designed to enhance wear resistance, and the wider, flatter tread contour helps to evenly distribute pressure within the footprint to combat uneven wear and improve tire longevity. The wide, circumferential and lateral grooves evacuate water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning, and wavy 3D sipes in the shoulders plus notches in the intermediate ribs create biting edges for traction in light snow and on ice.
Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A nylon reinforcement provides high-speed capability and enhances handling and durability.

Breaking Down Tire Performance Categories - 2024 Special Test With Winter Update (26:05)
We understand that tire performance categories can be confusing. You want an all-season tire, but there are several all-season categories; how do you know which one is right for you? You want a summer tire, but again, which summer category? In this special demonstration, we took six all-season tires from three all-season categories and three summer tires from two summer categories to lay it out for you. Category-leading tires from the Standard Touring All-Season, Grand Touring All-Season, Ultra High Performance All-Season, Max Performance Summer, and Extreme Performance Summer categories are tested so you can see exactly what each "step up" gets you as a driver and what trade-offs were made along the way.
Customer surveys indicate the Yokohama AVID Ascend LX excels in dry traction (9-10 scores) and wet performance, with strong hydroplaning resistance (7-10 range). Winter traction earns praise for snow capability (7-10), though ice performance shows occasional lower scores (0-7). Treadwear receives consistent praise (8-10), suggesting long-term value for all-season use. Ride comfort and noise levels (7-10) are highlighted as smooth and quiet, aligning with touring expectations. A few outliers note reduced ice grip, but most drivers report confidence in typical conditions. Overall, it delivers balanced performance for drivers prioritizing year-round reliability and comfort in a standard touring tire.

...The tires I had on before these tires would break traction in the rear, in wet weather on a cambered curve if I had a little too much speed. With these tires the rear tires I have not broken traction on the same curves going the same speeds...
This seems like a good overall tire. The tires aren't too noisy and I feel pretty confident in wet weather. My Merc has standard rear wheel drive so, if I get on it too much in the wet weather it will spin the rear tire. The tires I had on before these tires would break traction in the rear, in wet weather on a cambered curve if I had a little too much speed. With these tires the rear tires I have not broken traction on the same curves going the same speeds. I install winter tires for the winter so, I have no input about how they handle in snow. Have had the tires for a year and so far, they have been a good purchase.

...I had to drive several hours in a recent snow storm and they did surprisingly well! While other cars around me were slipping, I had nice traction with a Prius that had only FWD and these all-season tires!...
After some research on tires that have a low-rolling resistance and provide good MPG, I decided to go with these based on other reviews. So far after over 12,000 miles, these tires are doing great! They get slightly better MPG than my previous Cooper tires that came with my used Prius and are overall much better. They have nice traction and handling for a standard-touring tire on both dry and wet roads. I had to drive several hours in a recent snow storm and they did surprisingly well! While other cars around me were slipping, I had nice traction with a Prius that had only FWD and these all-season tires! It looks like there is barely any tread wear yet, so they look promising for lasting many more miles! Overall, I would recommend these tires to anyone who is look for a basic, yet very reliable tire!

...Since then we've put on another 20K in all driving conditions, highway, city, wet, dry, and snow, and the tires have performed well...
We purchased our 2016 Forester in 2020, about 55K miles on it, and it still had the origional Yokohama Avid Ascend tires on. Since then we've put on another 20K in all driving conditions, highway, city, wet, dry, and snow, and the tires have performed well. We havn't noticed a reduction of handeling or an increase in road noise. These tires have been relatively quite, even at 74K + miles.
I recently put on new tires at 74,500 miles, and went with the same Avid Ascend.
If you're looking for great performance and longevity, these are the tires for you!

...Wet and dry traction is very good...
I have bought many sets of Yokohama tires over the years and haven't been disappointed yet. They get good life out of them and are quiet and ride great. These are no exception. We haven't had a ton of snow this year, but the tires have handled what we did get with no problems. Wet and dry tractions is very good. Nothing really to complain about, these are just good tires.

...They're also extremely good on dry roads, don't make much road noise, and ride extremely smoothly...
Got these to replace the factory tires that had become worn out. I wanted something with a high treadlife that was also quiet, comfortable, and capable of handling Indiana winters. This turned out to be perfect for that. We got a fairly brutal snow storm not too long ago, and these tires handled it like champs. I haven't felt this stable on snow in a long time. They're also extremely good on both wet and dry roads, don't make much road noise, and ride extremely smoothly. I used to have a bit of steering vibration on my old tires when getting to 60-70 MPH on the interstate, but that's completely gone with these.

I only have installed this tires on my vehicle for almost 2 months now. So far, I'm satisfied with purchasing this tires. It has a good dry and weather traction, but pretty much quiet and absorbs road bumps well.

Most customers rate comfort as excellent, with ride quality and noise levels scoring predominantly 9s and 10s. High marks highlight a smooth, quiet driving experience ideal for all-season touring. A few lower noise scores (5-7) don't overshadow the overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Vehicle: 2009 Toyota RAV4 Base Model 4wd 4 Cylinder Miles Driven on Tires: 250 Driving Conditions: Combined Highway/City Location: BOISE, ID Driving Style: Easy Going
Very quiet and smooth riding. I previously had Goodyear maxlife tires and after 30k miles they became extremely noisy and had mild cupping, even though I rotated them every 7500 miles and alignment was perfect and religiously kept pressure at 35psi. I've had Yokohama in the past and they were great, expect the same with these. Another nice thing is that these tires are manufactured in the US. I will never buy Goodyear's again. Only Michelin or Yokohama from now on. Michelin are probably the best tires but they are expensive and I'm not sure how long I'm keeping this car and that's the main reason I bought Yokohama as they are inexpensive compared to Michelin.
