Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The AVID Ascend LX is Yokohama's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of sedans, coupes, crossovers and minivans who want a quiet ride and confident wet performance combined with dependable winter traction and long tread life. The AVID Ascend LX is designed to deliver grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in light snow.

Yokohama BluEarth branding is used to identify an ecologically friendly series of tires that are designed to deliver environmentally, human and socially friendly solutions for drivers and their vehicles. AVID Ascend LX tires branded with the BluEarth symbol are identified on their Sizes and Specs pages.

The symmetric pattern of the AVID Ascend LX features an offset design and a five-block pitch sequence to help reduce pattern and road noise for a comfortable, quiet ride. The tread is molded from Yokohama's L-2 all-season compound that features a unique polymer blend designed to enhance wear resistance, and the wider, flatter tread contour helps to evenly distribute pressure within the footprint to combat uneven wear and improve tire longevity. The wide, circumferential and lateral grooves evacuate water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning, and wavy 3D sipes in the shoulders plus notches in the intermediate ribs create biting edges for traction in light snow and on ice.

Internally, a polyester casing aids ride comfort and supports two wide, steel belts. A nylon reinforcement provides high-speed capability and enhances handling and durability.

Breaking Down Tire Performance Categories - 2024 Special Test With Winter Update (26:05)

We understand that tire performance categories can be confusing. You want an all-season tire, but there are several all-season categories; how do you know which one is right for you? You want a summer tire, but again, which summer category? In this special demonstration, we took six all-season tires from three all-season categories and three summer tires from two summer categories to lay it out for you. Category-leading tires from the Standard Touring All-Season, Grand Touring All-Season, Ultra High Performance All-Season, Max Performance Summer, and Extreme Performance Summer categories are tested so you can see exactly what each "step up" gets you as a driver and what trade-offs were made along the way.

...I like their dry & wet traction... I do like their grip...

These tires came as OEM on my 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback SE.
I like their dry & wet traction. I only have 1,000 miles on them, so the jury is out on longevity & snow performance. I do like their grip.
I have a while, but am considering Pirelli 4 Season +
as a replacement when the time comes.

...But there has been a lot of rain since getting the car and these feel extremely secure, handling remains agile making me feel very confident on wet rainy roads...

This is the stock tire on my new Subaru Legacy Limited XT and I was very pleasantly surprised. I've come to not expect the best from an OEM tire but these are excellent in every condition I've driven on. It will be a while before there's any snow here to make any assessment on snow handling. But there has been a lot of rain since getting the car and these feel extremely secure, handling remains agile making me feel very confident on wet rainy roads. Dry handling has also been excellent with very good steering response and secure footing on twisty curving sections. In addition, perhaps not as important, these are very good looking tires. I'm proud to have them on my car and would definitely buy them again unless they prove horrible on snowy roads which I wouldn't expect.

I have the Yokohama Avid-GT 18" tires on my 2020 Outback. They seem to be very quiet and in rain (we do not have snow in South Florida)
no slippage.... I was concerned since the traction rating is B ... I went to Subaru to find out why they would put a B TRACTION rated tire on what is purported to be the safest car you can buy.... I was told that Yokohama makes this tire specifically for Subaru ... they are considered very safe. SO we will find out as the miles and heavy rains are experienced, but so far they seem to be good.

These tires are crap in cold weather. They are literally dangerous on snow, slush, and ice. I drive my Outback very conservatively by the way.

If you never, and I mean never, see temperatures below freezing these tires might be ok.

I did not purchase these tires off tire rack, however they came on a used 2024 outback xt(which is what subaru puts on all new subarus)...if you live in an area with snow do not purchase these, barely manageable in light snow let alone heavy snow, there is zero confidence with these tires in the snow (braking, turning, accelerating) none of it, which is annoying after spending 35k on an awd vehicle that "what makes a subaru a subaru" and now spending more money on better all seasons....there are much better tires out there do your research, cant believe Subaru would go with these other than Yokohama being a Japanese company as well, do better Subaru

...Dry weather cornering has been very satisfactory...

These came stock on my car and overall they've been good to me. Dry weather cornering has been very satisfactory and I haven't noticed any issues in wet weather.

I did take these into 3 inch thick slushy snow and they started spinning almost immediately on incline, did not make me feel safe so I turned around.

...Excellent grip and comfort... Stays grippy when pushed to its limits which are further than expected with this vehicle combo...

These are being compared to my defacto race tire michelin pilot sports. And the very comfortable riding General R43 which has great all around attributes price/cost/comfort/wear ratio.
The Yoko Avids are Factory tires on Rav4 prime xse. Excellent grip and comfort. A bit jittery when inflated to 38/38 and warmer temps push it to mid40’s psi while driving but no means uncomfortable. Stays grippy when pushed to its limits which are further than expected with this vehicle combo. I was pleasantly surprised that a factory tire from Toyota would actually be enjoyable and comfortable. Have not been able to review wear characteristics. Have not tested in ice/snow here in sunny Unicornia.
Just watch the inflation pressures and

...Certainly quiet and comfortable highway tires, good dry dry traction...

Original equipment tires on the Subaru Outback XT.
Certainly quiet and comfortable highway tires, good dry dry traction. Used these up and down the California coast during the pandemic, and we had very little precipitation to base any kind of judgment on, but these were fine when it did get wet.
Picked up 3 nails and screws in that time, but these resulted in slow leaks, not immediate flats.
We live in the mountains, so lots of twisty-road driving. These are not really suitable for that when pushed, as they lose their line easily and break into a squeal when pushed past 6/10.
The shoulders wore out first, because of all the cornering, and the set was replaced at 34,000 miles.
Replaced these with Vredesteins at 30% less cost.

Extremely poor treadwear rating... I had this tire also on my Mazda 6 sedan and they only lasted about 20K. Not acceptible.

Extremely noisy. Even on a hybrid vehicle. Responsive wet and dry. Extremely poor treadwear rating. I scratch my head wondering why a company who manufactures quality vehicles- Toyota, would even consider putting this tire on any of its vehicles. Overpriced. I had this tire also on my Mazda 6 sedan and they only lasted about 20K. Not acceptible.

These were the OEM tires on my 2022 Outback. At 36k the front tires are completely bald and the rear tires are at the point of mandatory replacement as well. I should have replaced them about 3-4k miles ago. I had these tires rotated at every scheduled oil change (~6k) and drive like someone who is trying to preserve their tires at all times. Granted, I do live in an area with rods that have a lot of twists, turns, and hills. Aside from the tread ware, they became extremely loud after about 18k miles. They performed fine when they still had tread, but the only way I'd ever consider buying them again is if they were $50/tire with free installation... that's about what they're valued at for me.
