We’ve tested Touring All-Season tires before, but never like this! Eight Touring tires, the best of the best, both 3PMSF branded [all-weather] and traditional all-season options, take to the street and the track to see how they stack up. Using our new Alfa Romeo Stelvio to represent the popular CUV segment, TJ and Brent put these eight contenders through the paces on the road, on the track, and in the winter elements to get a read on what to consider when comparing all-weather vs. all-season tires.

...They have good rain channels between the lugs so there's no highway hydroplaning even in rain downpours. Wet traction is great...

Even though these GEOLANDERS (for my Subaru Forester), are not true snow tires, they did great in the PA winter/snow. They have good rain channels between the lugs so there's no highway hydroplaning even in rain downpours. Wet traction is great. Aggressive tread design also gives good traction on muddy/grassy slopes. A very good all-season tire, but may not be good in sub-zero cold & ice covered roads. In those cases a true snow tire is best. Highly recommended as a good all season tire for Subaru Foresters and similar.

...I'm very pleased with how they are wearing and handling in dry, wet, and now the snow...

I like these tires very much! I purchased them from Cassidy tire in the suburban Chicago area in early October. This way I got dry, wet and snow driving before this review. The OEM Kumho tires are good in the dry and wet, as soon as they got cold, they are horrible, especially in snow. The Yokohamas are an all weather tire and they deliver very well!
Price was a big deciding factor, having an AWD SUV I have to plan on replacing all 4 depending on wear, so I don't damage the AWD system. Check the specs on your specific vehicle, very important to know and understand. Take it from me, a guy with 30 years of working in a dealership service department.
Bottom line, these tires have to be the best all around choice for anyone who has 4 seasons to drive in. Between price, wear, and handling, these tires have it all. I'm very pleased with how they are wearing and handling in dry, wet, and now the snow. I will say, compared to the OEM they are not as quiet but it is a very small difference. A difference that is not enough to worry about, in fact after just a couple weeks the difference wasn't even noticeable anymore.
I strongly recommend this tire if you value great traction, comfortable ride in all four seasons with the additional benefit of reasonable price. In all my years of driving, this has been the best tire I've ever owned.
Watch the video attachment from tire rack all the way, it will help you understand the importance of choosing the right tire, just because it is a high line tire doesn't always make it worthwhile.
On the track, they only made it to 3rd or 4th place. In real world driving conditions, it's my opinion that they are #1 in all the right places.

...Rain traction and stopping is superb as well...

After a couple of thousand miles, this new CV 4S from Yokohama seems to check the 'right boxes'. Haven't had them in snow nor can I attest to longevity, but for an 03 MDX that has had its fair share of top-of-the-line tires from Michelin and Bridgestone, this CV 4S rides very comfortably, handles well, and is unquestionably quiet - on par or BETTER than the others. Rain traction and stopping is superb as well. They look superb on the MDX, while gas mileage seems to be fine and unaffected. It's still early, but I'm quite pleased.

...No issues on icy, snowy forest service roads this winter...

As a true all purpose tire these are great. No issues on icy, snowy forest service roads this winter. The tread wear seems reasonable so far. Not quiet as refined as a dedicated all season tire but a good compromise if you want the extra trail capability.

...No slippage in ice. Stopped completely in packed snow in what temps in in the teens while turning around to park in my side if the street. Gunned it to see what would happen. The tires caught and turned me around perfectly...

Our Mercedes GL450 came with horrible tires for winter, Crosscontacts*. We got our tires right before this passed big Winter cold front they brought temperatures in Denver Colorado and I an average of 3 degrees. For three days. That mixed with snow ❄️🌨️ I wanted to get them out and test them. No slippage in ice. Stopped completely in packed snow in what temps in the teens while turning around to park in my side if the street. Gunned it to see what would happen. The tires caught and turned me around perfectly.
I would definitely recommend if you're looking for something keep you and your family safe.

...Grip and stability on wet and dry roads is good... Handling and response are excellent...

Could not be happier with these tires!
Just got back from a road trip from S Carolina to Colorado and back. Grip and stability on wet and dry roads is good. Grip on gravel and loose dirt getting to the trailheads is very good. Got up a challenging dirt hill with no problem where a couple 2wd vehicles with all-seasons couldn’t make it. These tires gave us a lot of confidence driving on gravel and dirt roads. Ride is surprisingly smooth and quiet on the highway considering the more aggressive tread design. Handling and response are excellent. MPG seems the same as the all-seasons these replaced. Plus I think they look great on our Explorer.

...They provide solid, no-nonsense grip on dry roads. However, It took less than the length of a football field to realize how much more steering wheel is needed to turn this softer compound tire...

I logged hours of Tire Rack time researching a new set of tires for my RAV 4 AWD. I live in Portland, and by default, I zeroed in on tires that excelled in wet weather performance, and also included a marginally aggressive tread pattern that would perform reasonably well in snow. My non-professional tire report - the Geolander CV 4s performance on the RAV reflect TR video test results. They provide solid, no-nonsense grip on dry roads. However, It took less than the length of a football field to realize how much more steering wheel is needed to turn this softer compound tire. Since softer tires create greater road friction, it took less than a day to see the MPG of the RAV’s 4-cylinder engine take a noticeable hit – especially in-town. It simply takes more work for the RAV’s 4 cylinders to move heavier, softer tires. I presume the CV 4s wouldn't impact the MPG on a 6-cylinder as much. Rain? The tires perform like a champ on wet streets, curvy hill roads and highways - simply excellent wet weather performance. Snow? I took a run up to Mt. Hood following a recent snow storm, and tested like I drive in town when it snows - gently and deliberately. The CV 4s provided excellent traction and grip in snow depths ranging from 2”- 8” in both 2WD and AWD. Goodbye - Toyota installed a set of Michelin Primacy A/S tires as this RAV's OEM, a tire clearly designed for dry, warm weather use, minimal road friction, maximum MPG numbers and little else.

...They do feel more responsive and comfortable/softer ride than the original Krugen tires the car came with...

Great experience ordering through tire rack, and tires shipped directly to installer. Tires feel great and look great. I don’t have much driving miles on these, so I can’t make a judgement on certain questions of this survey yet. They do feel more responsive and comfortable/softer ride than the original Krugen tires the car came with. Lost 2-3mpg highway , but that’s to be expected as these tires are a bit heavier than the OEM tires that also had 50k miles on them. Website very informative and easy to navigate. The option to Apply my cars make/model/year/trim level makes it even easier. Will be purchasing through tire rack again.

...They are super smooth and quiet. Very peaceful on long trips...

I have zero complaints about these so far. They are super smooth and quiet. Very peaceful on long trips. I've driven on them in heavy rain and they keep my vehicle planted solidly to the road. The tread blocks are rather big, so you might experience a little bit of tread squirm if you ask for too much in the dry, but nothing to be unexpected. So far, they also exhibit no real signs of wear. I decided between these or Michelin CrossClimates (which were my old tires), and have no regrets going with these at a cheaper price than the Michelins. They may last longer, too. I look forward to trying them in the snow if I get a chance.

...Not ' 70K mile' tires, 40K was when I changed, although the old tires might have gone another 5-6K miles...

Had the older version of this tire. Not "70K" mile tires, 40K was when I changed, although the old tires might have gone another 5-6K miles. Both times, I got such DEALS on the Yokohama's I couldn't consider Michy's. I don't put THAT many miles per year, that "aging-out" tires isn't a factor. My truck is heavy and I have towed a small RV trailer. For more than double the installed price, 60K mile Michy's don't make sense for me. The Yokohamas are incredibly QUIET, SMOOTH, grippy on cornering, and "Readable" aka: excellent "feedback" from the tires. BFG's are the closest price/performance, but they ride much "firmer" and are quite noisy on some road surfaces. Pays yer money and makes yer choices. The "ULTRA-PREMIUM" Michelin Blu-Lines ($800 EACH!!!) my local dealer has might be "the best of everything" but they BETTER BE!

Nice performing tire. I live in the country with unpaved roads, and this tire is great for that. Shortly after installing them I was caught out in a snow storm and had to drive 35 miles in fairly deep snow, and they really impressed me with the traction they have.
