Unless they are dismounted and remounted on their wheels to accommodate use on the other side of the vehicle, directional tires are to be used on one side of the vehicle and are intended to be rotated from the front axle to the rear axle. If different tire sizes are used on the front vs. rear axle, the tires become location-specific and prohibit tire rotation unless remounted.
Since variations based on options or vehicle manufacturer changes may determine the Original Equipment tire size on your vehicle, always verify the size you are purchasing matches the tire size for your vehicle (usually found in the door jamb, glove box lid or gas cap door) or in the Owner's Manual.
If you are unsure what size is installed on your vehicle, please confirm the size as listed on the tire sidewall before placing your order.
The Optional Tire Sizes featuring different rim diameters we list for many vehicles are based on over 30 years of experience we have with plus size wheel and tire combinations. However, it is important to note that these optional tire sizes are based on vehicle specific wheel sizes/offsets offered by Tire Rack.
When searching by vehicle, you can select the rating(s) based on your vehicle and intended use. When you choose "recommended" you will see the speed rating(s) appropriate for your vehicle. Numbers in parentheses indicate quantity of tires available and do not include winter or competition tire counts that are below your vehicle's recommended speed rating.
Also note that when you first change from a run-flat to a non-run-flat tire, the installer will need run-flat capable equipment to remove the original tire. Many of our Recommended Installers have this equipment.
When searching by vehicle, load ranges are shown in ascending alphabetical order. When you choose "recommended" you will see the load range(s) appropriate for your vehicle.
Leading automobile manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Nissan and Toyota recommend in their owner's manuals that you install four winter tires for winter driving. By installing four winter tires, you maintain the most balanced and controlled handling possible in all winter driving conditions. It is imperative to keep the same level of traction at all four corners of the car; otherwise, the full benefits of ABS or traction control systems will be lost.
We tested mixed vs. matched tires on vehicles in the winter. Here are the results.

Only tires specifically for the vehicle selected will be shown in search results. From there you can select an Original Equipment replacement or a performance upgrade per the results shown. You can refine your search by selecting certain criteria from various categories. For example, if you prefer a certain brand or require a specific performance category, only those search results will be shown. From there you can read complete product descriptions, test results, tire reviews, tire specs and warranty information.
Or, use our Tire Decision Guide.
Select your vehicle, answer a few questions about your driving style and the conditions in which you drive. We'll lead you to tire performance categories that are right for you.
The following parts will need to be replaced by your installer when reusing O.E. sensors:
The 2005+ Corvette, on the other hand, will cut engine horsepower (depending on the specific model) and not allow certain performance-oriented vehicle control settings to be accessed whenever the TPMS system is not functioning for any reason.
Check with your vehicle owner's manual for information regarding your vehicle.
If after following these instructions you cannot properly install your wheel covers, please call customer service at 888-541-1777, ext. 360. They will provide you with a return authorization number and answer any additional questions you may have regarding the product return/exchange procedure.
Sometimes, if a vehicle is brand new or is an exotic brand, we won't have immediate access to it for measuring purposes. Wheels won't be listed as a match until we can get the necessary measurements.
We set stringent guidelines for the wheels we offer so that you can be sure you are getting the right fit.
Keep a set of your original lug nuts or bolts in your glove box or trunk in case you need them to mount your spare wheel and tire in an emergency! The same is true for any adapter sockets, locking lug keys, or extenders we send with your new wheels.
Since the thickness of an alloy wheel can differ from Original Equipment wheels, also verify that the lug nuts or bolts will engage the threads. Refer to the chart here to determine the number of turns or the depth of engagement typical for your stud or bolt size.
Once you select your vehicle's make, model and year you will be able to see wheels specifically for your vehicle and to try different wheels on it in The Wheel Rack®.
Search results include a variety of finishes, including chrome wheels (where applicable), accurately-depicted sizes (including fitments with front/rear options and Plus Sizing options) and current pricing (including wheels on closeout or special). Links to view wheel images in detail at a larger screen size are also available.
When this is the case, it may be confusing since we take you directly to wheel search results without the option to see the wheels on the vehicle (and without any explanation). We know that's frustrating. Bear with us as we work toward an update that adds a message stating the functionality isn't available for that vehicle at that particular time and also work through the archives to add images as we can.
Sticking calipers or other components can also lead to overheating rotors and excessive wear of the brake pads.
The main symptom of warped rotors is a pulsation felt in the pedal when brakes are applied. If the vibration is felt in the steering wheel or in the dash of the vehicle, it's more likely a completely different problem: brake judder. A simple run-out measurement will confirm the diagnosis.
The only way to confirm a rotor is warped is to measure run-out with a dial indicator gauge. Most shops are equipped with this measuring tool and can check the bare rotor run-outs on the vehicle. If your installer says a rotor is warped, be sure to ask them for the run-out numbers on the rotor as well as the run-out numbers on the hub under the rotor. The new rotor should also be checked for excessive run-out using a dial indicator gauge once it is mounted and before the caliper and pads are installed. If a rotor has excessive run-out of over .004" (.10mm) it should be replaced.
All brake rotor manufacturers will require run-out numbers when processing a warranty claim.
Brake rotors are checked at the factory for machining flaws and excessive run-out before they are packaged and shipped. It is rare for a new rotor to have excessive run-out right out of the box.
If your new rotor does have excessive run-out, please contact our customer service department at 888-541-1777, ext. 360, for a replacement. Do not install or drive using the rotor! Rotor manufacturers will not warranty a used rotor for excessive run-out.
The recommended bed-in procedures vary for each manufacturer and can be found here: Pad Bed-In Procedures
Worn out springs, shocks, or struts can allow the vehicle weight distribution to shift faster and more dramatically, overloading the front brakes. This can result in premature front brake wear.
Sticking caliper pistons, caliper slides, or a damaged parking brake can also cause premature brake wear. When this happens, the caliper cannot retract the pad properly when you let off the brakes and it remains in contact with the rotor. In situations like this, it's typical for the inboard pads next to the caliper piston to wear out very quickly while the outer pad is hardly worn at all. This will generate excessive dust, noise, and heat. It will also wear out the inner surface of the rotor quickly. The tell-tale sign is one wheel with excessive, heavy dusting and noise.
This is not a defect in the pad or the rotor; it's a failure of the caliper and or the related components such as the piston, slides, or the parking brake assembly.
Keep in mind: the pads don't move by themselves! The caliper is what forces the pads into the rotor surface and if the caliper sticks, it can't retract the pads properly which causes excessive pad wear.
As the pads get hot, the heat and friction cause the metallic particles in the dust to statically charge as they are worn off the pad surface and that's what makes them stick to the surface of the wheels and other parts of the vehicle. The petroleum hydrocarbon binders also break down releasing an oily, greasy film that clings to the wheels and other components of the car. This is typically more noticeable on the front wheels since the front brakes normally do a higher percentage of the work compared to the rear.
The brake rotors are produced from cast iron. As they wear down, the iron particles wearing off of the rotor and drum surfaces also tend to statically charge and stick on surfaces. In extreme conditions, the hot iron particles can imbed and fuse in the clear coat surface of the wheels. When exposed to moisture, these iron particles will oxidize and the result is rust stains on the wheel surface.
