Customers Say

Customer surveys indicate the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 RFT excels in winter traction, with outstanding snow performance (9-10 scores) and very good ice grip (7-10 range). Wet traction receives strong praise (8-10) for reliable hydroplaning resistance. Dry handling is consistently rated very good (7-9), while comfort scores highlight a smooth ride (7-10) despite occasional mentions of road noise. This tire really makes a difference for winter driving. Provides near wet road traction in all snowy or icy conditions and provides lots of confidence that you're going to make it to where you're going. The thick rubber tread also provides for smooth driving on dry roads. I'll buy them again!

Hands down best snow tire on the market! I buy Blizzaks for our entire fleet of taxi cabs every winter. Being in western South Dakota, our winters can be very unforgiving, but I trust these tires among all others to keep both my cars and passengers safe. The only complaint I had about them was how fast they wear on dry pavement, but I'm not going to complain too much, especially seeing how hard these cars are driven, snow or not. I never anticipated that a Prius could be such a reliable car in +6" of snow, but these tires prove it!

...Certainly, with very limited time to evaluate, these tires are much better than the OE summer tire and I am sure they are the best tires to have during Winter weather months.

I really do not have much experience with these tires yet. I had winter tires (from Tire Rack) on my previous Miata and they were very good under most Winter conditions (had to be careful as THAT Miata did not have a limited slip diferential) These new tires seem to "squirm" more as though ther is a LOT of rubber on them - it gives the car a feeling of "wandering" from side to side at Interstate speeds. It is pretty hard to quantify ("rate") because it gets to be "as compared to what". Certainly, with very limited time to evaluate, these tires are much better than the OE summer tire and I am sure they are the best tires to have on my Miata during Winter weather months.

...You do give up a tiny bit of responsiveness on dry roads on warmer days but nothing drastic. Set your expectations correctly, no winter tire is going to give you the same performance as your summer/all-seasons...

Purchased these along with a set of wheels for my 2012 MINI Cooper S (went down a size to 16" as was recommended). Got them on in time for the latest nor'easter that just came through our area. I have to say that I'd never imagined how secure the car would feel on the road in conditions ranging from freezing rain to about 4 inches of snow on the ground. These tires are all that you read about and more. I've had all wheel drive cars (still do) with all seasons on and the handling in bad wet/snowy conditions doesn't come close in comparison to the Blizzaks. You do give up a tiny bit of responsiveness on dry roads on warmer days but nothing drastic. Set your expectations correctly, no winter tire is going to give you the same performance as your summer/all-seasons. Definitely would recommend these to anyone looking for a set of winters. Also, dealing with TireRack was a pleasure. Would not go anyplace else.

...Going around bends feels a bit squirmy on dry warm days...

Got these from The Tire Rack in January 2011 for my 2007 Cooper S R56 which had 17 OE rims. Was advised to go 16" with a reasonable price set of MSW as "Winter" Rims. I live north of Toronto in an area that gets hit regularly by snow squalls. I also travel to the Detroit area on a regular basis and need to be confident that I will get there and back regardless of the weather. The winter performace on this set up is great. The ride is also significantly smoother due to the 16". These tires make the car so much fun to drive in the winter. The OE Continental all seasons were really scary in the winter. I got stuck a couple of times with less than 4" of snow and white knuckle syndrome was the norm on snow and ice covered on highways. The Blizzaks give a great deal of confidence in the snow and ice with significantly improved stopping distance and cornering performance. Going around bends feels a bit squirmy on dry warm days. I would reccomend these to any MINI owner who needs winter tires. The advice to drop down to 16" is also recommended. Cannot comment on wear yet as I have just ended my second winter season and they still look like new. I'm guessing they will be good for another 3 seasons (approximately 25,000 to 30,000 winter miles)

...So, during the brief drive I tried many spirited maneuvers and was surprised by well these winter/ice tires responded... The harsh ride and high noise of the Potenzas disappeared without sacrifice to responsiveness in corning, braking and straight-line handling...

I just had this tire/wheel combination installed and then drove a few miles to put my car in storage. Tire/wheels these replaced are Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position on factory rims, so my comparison here is to "summer" non-RFT tires on "staggered" factory rims. So, during the brief drive I tried many "spirited" maneuvers and was surprised by well these "winter/ice" tires responded. The harsh ride and high noise of the Potenzas disappeared without sacrifice to responsiveness in corning, braking and straight-line handling. I've use Blizzaks on every car I've owned for the past 20 years, so I'm biased, but this is my first very low profile application and I am once mort surprised by how these tires keep improving. The Potenzas are going into storage and I'm going to run these Blizzaks year-around. What a great tire!

I will update this review when I've racked up some serious miles. Stay tuned!

I run winter tires from October through April each year. The Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 RFT provides a good balance of wear and performance. The all-around performance of this tire obliterates the other "soft compound" winter tires I have used on this car; Continental ContiContact, and Pirelli Winter Sottozero. I also used non-runflat Michelin winter tires, which only lasted about 18000, with limited improvements in ride quality. I only get 15000-20000 miles on each set of runflat tires, but I think these are the best runflat winter tire available for the MINI Cooper S.

The first winter season with these tires threw everything at them - wet snow, dry snow, slush, heavy rain, and hard-pack. These tires replaced a set of Dunlop WinterSports and the improvement is remarkable. The Dunlops were OK, the Blizzaks are incredible. Tread seems to be holding up well. There is a sacrfice in performance, but hey, these are winter tires and they do the job very well. Highly recommend...

...I have used them for 2 winters so far, and have over 8,000 miles on them. Still probably have another 2 winters before I will need to replace them. So obviously the tread life is good, and as is the depth of the treads/grooves...

This was the first (and only so far) set of snow tires I've purchased for my Mini Cooper S. Living in upstate NY, I usually put them on the first week of December and take them off in mid March. I have used them for 2 winters so far, and have over 8,000 miles on them. Still probably have another 2 winters before I will need to replace them. So obviously the tread life is good, and as is the depth of the treads/grooves.

These aren't the greatest when the roads are completely dry, but what winter tires are? At least they are still predictable and you can easily tell what the tires will do, and they definitely give you enough feedback/warning when you will break loose in dry conditions.

As for the snow? It does quite well in the white stuff. Obviously much better than the all-seasons that I have. It is quite predictable in snow, and almost acts as if in rails. Allows driving through all times of snow with ease and confidence. I love passing cars on the highway that have their flashers on, while I breeze by them. Obviously slush can pose a problem as with any tire.

I haven't tried any other snow tire on my car to compare these to, but honestly, I see no need to. For one who loves driving in the snow, and still tries to get the top performance out of my car even in the snowiest conditions...these tires allow me to do so.

...Plus, wear rate, noise levels, and handling on dry roads are all better than expected.

After the abysmal winter performance of my Mini's stock all weather tires, these Blizzaks exceeded my expectations. Coupled with my car's limited slip front end (which was no help at all with the all weathers), I no longer worry about getting up my snow covered 300' inclined driveway. Plus, wear rate, noise levels, and handling on dry roads are all better than expected.

great traction tire for snow, ice and dirt offroad. Good tread wear and pretty good handling on dry roads. Although these are winter tires, I leave them on year round in Seattle to handle our rain and the dirt roads in the mountains. One of the very few run-flat snow tires.
